With my love of candy, Halloween provides me with a great way to buy candy without feeling the guilt. Of course, I always buy too much. There is nothing like the thrill of coming home on Trick-or-Treat to set down and go through your stash to see what you got. Here are some fun facts about candy for Halloween:

Tootsie Rolls were the first wrapped penny candy in America.

Halloween candy sales average about 2 billion dollars annually in the United States.

Chocolate candy bars top the list as the most popular candy for trick-or-treaters with Snickers #1.

Candy corn was invented in the 1880s by George Renninger of the Wunderlee Candy and is produced today by the Jelly Belly Candy Company.

M&Ms were introduced to American GIs during WWII in 1941.

Snickers bars have topped the charts for years as the #1 Halloween candy bar.

76% percent of households will include bite-size chocolate candies in their Halloween activities and 26% percent will go for full-size candy (chocolate and non-chocolate).

One cup of Candy Corn has fewer calories than that of a cup of raisins.
