My Food Blog

For a little fun today, I thought I would do a food blog. I look at other food blogs and am so impressed with the elegant dishes, the fancy names of the dishes and the amazing layout of the photo shoot for the dishes.

Since I am a picky eater and a lazy cook, I had to laugh at myself for some of the "meals" I fix. I was discussing this with someone the other day. They suggested I do a food blog entitled "What Real People Eat." I thought that was cute so here I go, sharing some of my real-life meals that real people eat.

Being in the south, we don't always eat healthy (well, I'm not sure I EVER do.) But we sure love our pork sausage and fried bacon. In an iron skillet but in a pinch we will do it in the oven.

Biscuits. Most definitely biscuits. And for me, it's from a can. NEVER EVER from scratch. Wouldn't even know where to begin.

Homemade beef cabbage veggie soup. This one does take some effort because you have cut up the cabbage. But it is so delicious.

I will occasionally make homemade spaghetti sauce from scratch with a pinch of this and a pinch of that. I love it, but it would probably never be found in an Italian restaurant.

Oh and homemade biscuit gravy. A once a week thing when I have the time. I love bacon gravy instead of sausage gravy. Oh great, now I'm hungry.

And homemade pizza bread. The best in the land. I make these 2 or 3 times a month. So simple and so good.

I also buy what is called barbecue buns which are top sliced hot dog buns and grill the sides for delicious hot dogs.

I also make a pizza cheese sandwich quiet frequently. I just make a grilled cheese but the inside is pizza sauce, pork sausage (cooked) and colby-jack cheese. A creation my grandson, Caleb, came up with when he was 8 that is now a family favorite.

And the one meal every grown up will fix for supper in a pinch but never admit to....cereal and buttered toast. I always have apple butter on the side.

There you have it my food blog. The simple meals for a simple life for a simple person. I am what I am.
