Pressing Onward....
Philippians 3:12-14 (NKJV)
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
For the past day or so, I've noticed on TV where so many shows are looking at "the year in review". They are reliving the most memorable moments...good and bad...of news stories. They look at the top 100 songs of the year, the best movies, etc.
To me, the past is exactly that...the past. Why do we waste so much of our lives with the "what was" and "what could have beens". What is done is done. And while I hope we can learn from our mistakes, it is counterproductive to dwell on them.
My wish for each of you today is that you each press onward to your goals and dreams. Paul wrote to the Philippians urging them to forget about the past. To reach forward to the future. A future that God has waiting for each of us.
My New Year's wish for you is that you will continue to press onward. Don't look back, but set your eyes on God and allow Him to lead you where He wants you to go.
