It's the little things....

Yesterday was a long, hard day at work. I got a lot accomplished but I was just really tired when I got off work. When I came home, I had a bag by my door. My friend Georgeanna loves to craft and I usually get a little gift for every holiday. I was so thrilled to open the bag and find this.

I had brought one of my grandson's home with me to teach him how to bake cookies for his 4-H Class at school. I was very honored that he asked me to help. I found out they were actually going to judge them and award a blue ribbon. He said he wants a good great but doesn't want to win because he doesn't want to be in the cook-off. His mom said if he is going to start baking, he needs a "man"lier apron. I loved how he was so relaxed with it all and just kept whistling while he worked.

He did all the measuring and all the mixing himself. Papaw was impressed that I let Caleb use the Pyrex bowl for his flower. Papaw only has certain bowls he uses himself because he is afraid of the consequences if he breaks one.

All I did was supervise. He loved flouring everything and rolling the dough out. There were a couple of times, I think he rolled the dough too thin on purpose because he just wanted to make it back in a ball so he could roll it out again.

I love how intense his face got when he was cutting them out. The rules stated they had to be plain sugar cookies, with no sprinkles of frosting and just using round cutter. So we used my vintage biscuit cutter.

All in all we had a great time and I was so proud of him for doing all the work himself. They turned out really good, but I forgot to get a picture of the finished product. Can't wait to see what his grade is.
