For over a year you have all been so patient and tolerant of my continuous posts of "I'm making a change on my craft/office room" or "Working on finishing/organizing my craft/office room." I got this shelf last September and was making it into a vintage craft room.
But then I decided I wasn't really a vintage craft room person, just vintage kitchen person. So the shelf got moved into the kitchen and the red basket sold. So next it was going to be a beach theme but I could never quite pull it off. Then recently I realized that I don't craft a lot so I don't need as much stuff as I used to so I sold off a bunch and gave some away. Then I reorganized what was left and put them in bins or baskets and inside shoe bags on the bag of the door. But I still wasn't happy. Since the grandbabies are getting too long to sleep on the couches and since I never use my craft table since I started crafting on the kitchen table, I realized something. The reason I have a hard time with redoing the office/craft room is because I don't USE and office craft room. But I do NEED and would USE a spare bedroom. Well, guess what? Here I am two days later with a new trundle bed and a beach bedroom which I have always wanted. It is still lacking a few things but here is the finished product. Some of my favorite beach memories. You will see a pop of pink in the pic because it is a bucket full of pens and pencils that has a pink flamingo on it.
Yes, I had to keep my little desk area because I do spent a lot of time on my computer. Check out the pictures of my grandsons. I "borrowed" them from my bedroom until I can get the girls to send me family beach pics of each set of grandkids to hang in the beach room. And just another touch of pink because this vase and these flowers has a special meaning to me so they always set on my desk.
And here is the big premier of the day bed with the pull out trundle mattress. I couldn't be happier with it. I need some more throw pillows and I have an amazing picture of the sun rise at the ocean that I am going to have made into a canvas for over the bed.
One of my happiest beach memories was that every trip hubby would fly his kite. We spent many hours on the beach and have many stories about his kite. So my old raggedy bear (who is not that old) sports a kite sweater for the beach room. The kids like to take turns sleeping with him. His name is Ted E. Bear.
And here is how is has ended up. I still need a beach type small throw to put on the quilt rack and a couple of other small decor items. But it is getting there.
I couldn't be happier. I hope the grandkids like it. I have to pick up a small TV next week for it, but I am loving this room. After all, the beach is my happy place so since I can't go to the beach, I will bring the feel of the beach to me.
