My blog for the past 6 days was written in advance so I could enjoy a well deserved vacation at Myrtle Beach. I had such an amazing trip. Breathtaking sunrises, beautiful sunsets, walks on the beach, reading and watching the waves and even managed to get in a few shopping trips where I got some great bargains which I'll share another day. But today is for the show God put on for us every day at the beach. Here are some highlights in no particular order.
I loved the sea turtle sand art.
There is nothing as relaxing as waves washing up on your feet and ankles. Could have stood there during the tide coming in all evening.
Tried to get a good pic of it coming on my feet but feet look hideous when sand and waves wash up on them.
The sunrise was beautiful every day. We didn't have a drop of rain or overcast skies any day.
I must have snapped over 500 morning sky pics.
My favorites were the rays starting to break through the early morning. We got up around 6:00 a.m. every day. I don't do sleeping in, especially on vacation.
The glow on the ocean every morning was breathtaking.
And when it broke completely through and rose all the way up in the sky so you say it was morning, oh how beautiful it looking shining down on the ocean.
It was fun seeing the different ways it came up each morning. And we oooh'd and aaah'd every morning like it was something we had never seen before.
And some mornings before it got fully up, we were shown some awesome cloud shapes.
I had a visit from a pigeon for over 20 minutes who refused to let me outside. Every time I tried to go out, he got down on our balcony and tried to walk in. So I just stayed inside till he left.
And at night, we would set on the balcony and watch the moon come up. I didn't get nearly as many good pictures of that simply because it was really dark and I don't know how to work the camera to get better night shots. But you can still see the beauty of the moon shining through the clouds and casting a glow across the ocean.
It was a full moon while we were there so we got to see it and it moved from full to waning gibbous phase.
And one night there were some clouds that kept passing over it and making it really eerie. It was so neat.
Yes, I took a ton of pictures of the whole week. Even took a selfie of myself which I rarely ever do unless a grandchild makes me get in one with them. But I was actually happy with the way my hair did that day so I thought what the heck. It was rare enough that I took it and then I actually posted it here and made it my profile picture on Facebook. I just don't normally do that.
Yes, I loved the pics of morning and night. But most of all I loved those moments when I just sat in my chair, watching the ocean, listening to waves crash against the shore and reading a good book.
We just got home Thursday and I'm already ready to go back again.
