Donut Day

Decided to try out my mini donut maker today. Except I used brownie mix and made brownie Donuts. Then I dipped some of them in a chocolate icing glaze. They were delicious both ways.

An upcoming project.

I am making a box from beachy seashell design into a Steampunk design. These are the colors of paint that will be involved from the .50 cent paint colors at Walmart.

Some decorative Steampunk items to put on it.

And some unique items that were in a jewelry box of broken and unknown things that I just never pitched.

Stay tuned. I am getting the room finished so I have a place to work and then starting on this and a couple of other projects. Life is fun. Have a great Saturday.

Friday Funnies

Happy Anniversary to Mommy & Daddy

Happy anniversary to my Mom & Dad, Helen and Luke. Daddy has been in heaven for 21 years later this month and mom will be 90 in June but thank God she is still with us.

This past Thursday would have been their 67th wedding anniversary.

They were blessed with four children. Two girls, followed by two boys. We are all still as close as we were growing up. (I am 2nd from the right)

We all grew up and got married. My brother Andy (back L) had 3 kids, Jack (back R) had 3, and Rachel (front R) had 3. I only had 2 kids and with my usual flair for the unexpected, I had twins so only had one pregnancy.

Over the years the family has grown from just mom and dad and four kids to 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Three of the grandchildren haven't gotten started on kids yet. And you don't want to know how many grand and great-grand dogs and cats they have had over the year.

All because two people fell in love.

Tuesday & Wednesday's highlights from this week....

Tuesday was a great day spent with two of my friends. We went to the Ford v Ferrarri movie. Oh my goodness. It was amazing. We went out to eat afterwards. It is always fun hanging with your friends. No matter how old you get.

On Wednesday, I went antique and thrift shopping with another friend starting with breakfast at Cracker Barrel. I found this little vintage salt dip at one shop.

This little watering can with a cat at a thrift booth.

And a sandwich glass creamer at another one. All three finds together was just $6.00.

After shopping, my friend wanted to introduce me to the therapeutic effect of going to the Humane Society and taking a kitten in to spend time with it. Oh my gosh, the one she got was a bundle of energy. But the one I fell in love with was so sweet and cuddly. She didn't like getting off my lap. I am happy to say though that she had been adopted and was being picked up the next day. It was still hard to leave her though. She was so precious.

Not in coloring, but her personality and facial features reminded me of my K.C. that I had for 17 years.

When I got home that night, I vegged on the couch and ate some Kay's Sea Salt Caramel ice cream. The best ice cream ever created in my opinion.

It was a great two days.

This past weekend....

Last weekend was some Mamaw time for the three youngest grands. I hated waking the two littlest ones up so I tried to be real quite. Colby was going to play in two basketball games Saturday so I let him rest.

His team won both of the ballgames. He plays his heart out in every game. I know he had to be exhausted.

We took the easy way and had a Pizza Hut pizza party with everybody getting to have some of their favorites.

The next morning, we had pancakes before we went to church. You can tell they all look worn out.

We ended our day with going to the movies where we enjoyed popcorn, candy and a drink. Then I delivered everybody back to their houses and went home and crashed.

It was a great three day weekend. Can't wait to do it again soon.

A little project......

A few weeks ago I posted the following picture on Facebook. I had seen it on Pinterest and thought I would like to do something similar. The pitcher is a little fancier than what I have. I'm a little a more country theme in my kitchen.

But I did decide to give it a try. I cut my twigs and bought some glitter hearts at the Dollar Tree. I already had a pitcher I wanted to use.

Probably one of the easiest craft project I ever did in my life. I may have to do it again at Easter and use some little Easter egg stickers.

And I didn't bother looking for the x-and-o because I love my true love story sign. I could not be any happier with the results.

Not happening...

A friend recently commented all the tea sets and teapots I have in my house. He said you must really love tea. The funny thing is I have tea sets in teapots and just about every room in the house. But I absolutely despise T I have tried it a couple of times in my life and several different ways and I can't stand it. But after that remark I thought maybe since it's been fifty years since I tried T I should try it again. Now I didn't do hot tea because all I had was some pre-made sweet tea so it is cold tea but I had to have it in one of my tea cups because it defeated the purpose drinking tea if I didn't use one of the teacups.

So I loaded it with lemon, which I love. And I sat down to give it a try. My granddaughter Alexis had the camera ready to snap my face at the first taste of the tea. I've been trying a lot of new food this year and I've liked it so I figured I would like tea now.

Obviously, I did not like it at all. Well at least I tried. It is a beautiful day going to be up in the seventies. We are supposed to have rain and storms from 4:00 pm and through the night. I am wearing flip-flops today so I am a happy girl, despite the upcoming storms.

Have a happy Saturday.

It's been a busy week

Our Christmas season at work has ended and we are closed for the next two weeks. I have been enjoying getting my house back in shape to normal decor and getting the Christmas decor put away. I celebrating getting everything done by making brownie cookies yesterday. Which are always delicious.

I moved the wine rack into the dining room. I put all my blues on there because my decor for the dining room is going to be blue and purple.

I had seen a thing on Pinterest with vases and wanted to recreate it. I had the flowers, some vases and only had to purchase one vase at Dollar Tree. I got the heart picture at Target for $3.00. It was something I had seen on Pinterest and thought about making but it was cheaper to buy it when I saw it.

I moved the red shelf over to where the wine rack was and it really gave me a lot more room to maneuver around in the kitchen.

My Baker's rack is still where it was and is the place of glory for all my non-blue Pyrex. I love the new pieces of the Americana pattern on the left and in the middle.

My shelf in the living room is back to normal with the comfort of some of my beach memories.

I was thinking I would have to go buy a blue tablecloth and then I remember some blue placemats I bought a few years ago.

So I put them on the dining room table and set a floral arrangement I made in the center.

I am very happy with the results.

When I was getting the placemats out, I found my old quilt that my grandmother made from pieces of old clothing. So I moved my quilt rack back into the bedroom. Daddy made the quilt rack, my grandmother the quilt and my mom crocheted the afghan. Lots of memories in this one little corner.

That's my changes and now I am back to normal. It is supposed to be in the 60's today and 70's tomorrow outside. I have the three youngest grands for the weekend so I am super excited. Have a blessed day!

Thursday's thoughts...

Last night we had our end of year work party. Had a great time. Of course anytime I spend with my dear friend Amanda is always a good time.

I woke up wanting to bake. So I made my famous brownie cookies. I love these things and they are so easy I can make them every day of the week and I know people that wish I did.

Next week I am going to start doing some of my craft projects. The first one is taking this little cardboard box that looks like this...

And turning it into something that looks similar to this for my steampunk

That's all my updates for . I will share other things as I get more organized.

Where did I go wrong?

It started out Sunday afternoon. I finally had a chance to take my Christmas decorations down. I got the tree ornaments packed away and the tree dismantled and somehow from there I got sidetracked. I ended up moving my wine rack into the dining room and redecorating it with all my blue Pyrex. Needless to say, the Christmas stuff was left for another day.

Hobby Lobby top 10

I stopped briefly at Hobby Lobby yesterday on my way to work. These were the top 10 things that I want to look at a little better when I go back today on my shopping expedition. They have some porcelain pots and pans that I fell in love with. I just have to investigate to see if you can cook in them or if they are just decorative.

If they are not decorative I want the vegetable one for vegetable soup and the potato one for beef stew.

I love these little hearts. Especially the one that says I love my friends. Great gift ideas to let somebody know you're thinking about them on Valentine's Day.

They have some adorable wooden hearts.

Since I love everything that has to do with tea, I think this little towel is definitely going to be something I pick up today.

I am a sucker for anything that says love on it. These were really cute.

My daughter will fall in love with the red trucks and so will my sister Rachel.

This black and white plaid is Garland that the little hearts are wood and they're strung with jute. Super adorable.

But the thing that completely stole my heart is a Hershey's Kisses pie plate. They have a whole line of baking products that is Hershey Kisses.

Then when I saw the quote in the bottom of the pie pan, it makes me really want it.

My daughter and I are heading out on a long-overdue trip to shop at Turkey Creek today. Hobby Lobby is on the top of our list of places to shop. Come back on Monday and I will be posting any good deals I find.
