Life's Unexpected Moments

I was heading to the store yesterday, when I was on the phone with my friend, Clara. She was telling that her neighbor was having a yard sale and she had some pretty good buys. Since it was just about 1/2 mile from the store, I decided to pop over to see what I could find. Oh wow! One of those times you are so glad you follow your instincts. Here are my bargains...

First off, the lady holding the sale goes to shows in Atlanta and had tons of these bags. It is what she put my goodies in instead of white plastic bags. So getting a freebie right off the bat was cool.

I got these metal candle rings. I want to use them at Christmas to put a candle in and surround the candle with holly.

These little metal trays are cute. I bought 4 of them to use for .... something. Just don't know what yet.

I liked these so well that I bought 8 of them. They will be used around the house to set candles in or to put in goody bags on holidays.

Speaking of holidays...I am seeing a lot of Christmas decor at the yard sales. I love the Santa on this plate and just had to have it.

I bought this to put on my front porch for the 4th of July. Not sure how I will decorate with it, but I wanted something patriotic to decorate out front.

I have been looking for a thermal pitcher to put water in and keep it on my desk. I don't drink nearly enough water. I have a little table in my office and I was trying to find a vintage tray that I could put a thermal pitcher on with cold water so I didn't have to go all the way to the kitchen for a drink while I am working. In the winter, I can fill it with hot chocolate. This was one of my great bargains of the day.  She had $2.00 on them and they look brand new...inside and out. I said "I want one but I don't know which one I want." She said "You can have them for $1.00 each if you take both of them." SOLD! I am thinking Sis might want one for her office desk for her coffee. She might, might not. But I am sure she will let me know if she does.

But my find of the day, the deal of the century leaves me breathless. I found these 1950's Boscul Peanut Butter glasses in the flower pattern. My cost.....just .50 cents each! They were down in a box under a table and I almost walked right by them. I have been looking for these for a while, but they are sometimes as much as $8 - $12 for one glass at the antique stores. The Shasta Daisy one is rare and is $37 on Ebay. So to nab it for .50 cents made my day. I am mad at myself though because she had about 12 of them. I should have bought the whole set. Don't know what I was thinking. I am going to go by there again in the morning and if they are yard selling again, I will stop and by whatever she has left.
