Getting excited....

I always find things I love on Pinterest, but either forget to do them or think they are beyond my expertise. I cannot paint. I'm no artist at all. But I really, really loved this that I posted the other day.

I have a friend who is part Cherokee and has an amazing artistic talent from face painting all the way to wall murals in local attractions. So I asked her if she could possibly do this for me. She said drop off the jar I wanted to use and she would do it. She suggested these colors: turquoise, black, brown , coral, Indian rose, white and maybe a silver metallic. So I took her this jar minus the lid. And all she is charging me is a batch of my peanut butter candy. I love to barter.

I also saw this pretty dream catcher on Pinterest. I bet it would be easy to make. I'm going to Google how to make a dream catcher to see if I can do this.

I also liked this little thing somebody made called a sun catcher. It's adorable.

But what I saw that I absolutely fell in love with was this......

Talk about talented.

Well that's it for today. Have a great weekend.

Friday Foto Friends

I know that bloggers tend to get a little excited about clouds and skies and sunrise and sunset. So when you see a sunrise like this, it is very hard to NOT grab our camera. These were Thursday morning around 6:30 a.m. at my house.

Thanks Ms. Debbie for Friday Foto Friends and a chance to share our pics.

Felt a little crafty...

As I used the last of the peanut butter, I went to start a grocery list for those "out of" items I don't want to forget. I normally write them on a piece of paper and then forget they are written down. As I was turning off the kitchen light, I thought "I need something to hang by the light switch for these HAVE to remember items. And I remembered I have a little chalk board (I love chalk boards). A light bulb went off in my head and I knew I wouldn't be happy with just hanging a plain chalkboard. So I gathered some items together and got to work.

First I opened a pack of jewelry wire I had never used. It is brown and is sturdy so I thought it would work perfect.

I dug in my tool drawer and found two tiny tack nails.

I made a loop in the wire so it would fit around the head of the nail.

Once I hammered the little tacks in with the wire under the head, I then shot some glue gun on it to make sure it didn't slide off.

Next, I glued a red button in each corner.

I tore a strip of the fabric and tied it in a bow around a wire so I could hook it on easier. I like to tear the cloth instead of cutting and hemming so it looks more rustic.

Here's the finished product.

And there it hangs over the kitchen light by one of my favorite kitchen pictures.

Oh, and I did this at 9:45 at night just because that is when I was inspired to do it.

Words for Wednesday

Saw these on Pinterest the other day. They just spoke to me. I would love to start a wall with framed art of these inspirational quotes.

I love, love, love this one. What a beautiful thought. It is so great to know that even when we can't find the words, He still knows what we are saying.

I have always said that God is not always that soft sweet voice that speaks peace to our soul. He sometimes has to knock me upside the head with a 2 x 4 to get my attention. I remember vividly one time when I was whining to Him with the "Why me?" attitude that I had one of those 2 x 4 moments and could hear Him say "Not everything that you go through is about you. Some of your tribulations are to bring others closer to me." So I shut up and decided that my faith needed to be stronger and have strived for that ever since that day. That's why I like this so much.

Have a blessed Wednesday!

Top 10 Tuesday

Top 10 things I am loving today.

1. Round beach towels.

2. Initial door hangings.

3. This little basket to have some dishtowels handy.

4. Purses with laser cut patterns.

5. Pipe cleaner flowers for Children's Church craft for Mother's Day.

6. Cards with cutout hearts and fill the back with strips of magazine photos for color. These are also great for the kids at church to make for Mother's Day.

7. This idea for pictures of The Grands.

8. This manicure. I am so into whales right now (don't know why). I may do this for the beach.

9. I love this. I have a friend who is a great artist. I am going to see if she could do this for me.

10. And last but not least, more painted rock ideas.

Happy Tuesday!

Weekend wrap up...

It's been a rainy weekend here in East Tennessee. Flood warnings are out this morning as the creeks and rivers are rising.

Friday night, Colby stayed all night with me all by himself. He loves his sister Alexis and cousin Shelby to stay when he comes over. Always has stayed with one or two of the other grandchildren.

But Friday it was just me and him. We had a blast. I love this little boy to pieces. When I was taking him home, I said "So how did you like staying by yourself? Will you do it again one day?" His response was "I loved it. I'm going to stay by myself again only this time with Alexis and Shelby. LOL. Gotta love the mind of a 6 year old.

Worked both days this weekend. Saturday my group greeting partner, Alan, had a wedding to preach at so I had to greet 11 groups. Close to 800 guests arrived on those 11 groups and some of them had 2 or 3 buses to greet. Did this during a lot of rain as well so I wasn't feeling to good when I got home. I did get a good pic of Alan and my friend Kendra who is one of our beautiful Southern Belles at Dixie.

Then Sunday, we all somehow got to talking about breakfast for supper and it made me so hungry that when I got off work I decided to go to Waffle House for supper. It was only 8:00. Called my daughter to see if she had heard if school was called off for the flooding. When I asked what she was doing, she said "We are heading to Waffle House for supper." So I ended up having supper with her family since we arrived about 2 minutes apart. Had a great time and it was delicious.

I have brownies in the oven this morning and going to put the Milky Way Peanut Butter frosting on them like the pan I made a few weeks ago.

I don't usually go to work until afternoon, so my plan was to sleep in this morning and listen to the rain. It turned out that the rain stopped overnight and I woke up at 5:40 and could not go back to sleep. Laid there tossing and turning until 7:00. I finally just got up. I got this week's schedule out to copy to my calendar only to realize they changed things up and I have to be there two hours earlier than I thought. So I had a mad rush to get the brownies made and do everything I need to do before I head to work. Ugh. I hate when that happens. Makes me crazy. Maybe if I misbehave a little today they will give me a time out.

I hope everybody has a good start to the new week. Have a great day.

It's Saturday!

Even though I am working today, I still love Saturdays. I don't go in until later in the day and today I get off an hour earlier than I normally do. Yesterday morning, I was working on pulling some more of my yard sale stuff and found something that I had forgotten about. It was some fabric I bought when I went to the beach last year. I was going to do a craft for the patriotic holidays but somehow the fabric ended up in my giant craft storage box and I had forgotten all about it. I am going to try to make something cute with this.

I'm going to put this in my beach bathroom as a little doily or a wall hanging or something. I need to look for ideas. I had forgotten I bought this. And it is really funny because I have recently become obsessed with things with whales on it. I can't await to find something to do with it.

For the flag stars and stripe fabric, I could do something like this.

Or perhaps the stripes as the cross and do a yo yo with the star fabric for the center.

With any leftover fabric, I could make little prayer flags. I just love prayer flags.

Well, that's it for today. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Things I like.

I was on Pinterest this morning and this wreath caught my eye. I love to craft, but for some reason cannot do well with wreaths. But this is beautiful.

Since I was on Pinterest anyway, I decided to look up some ideas to decorate patriotic themed. I want to make some things to leave up for May (for Memorial Day), June (for Flag Day) and through July (for Independence Day). I got some great ideas. I’m glad I saw this one so I can get some red and white flowers when I go in a couple of weeks to get my flowers.

This would be a cute project for Children’s Church. I think they would like to do this.

I want to print this out and get me an old frame and paint it the color of blue that is in the picture.

Remember my painted rock post recently? Well this falls right in well with that post. I love these.

I love making pinwheels from scrapbook paper. They are so much fun to make and very cute if you arrange them in a flower vase.

This next one isn’t so much a decoration as a great idea. I may see if they will let me put this out in the foyer at church. It is so neat.

What a cute and easy tablecloth. Walmart sells these Bandanas for $1 each.

I love this. Not sure if those are Styrofoam or foam art, but I do love the stars.

This would be very easy to make with the colored plastic clothespins. I have tried to dye clothes pins and never been able to get the desired color result.

Too cute and so easy to do. I’m sure you could go to any construction site and ask for a few scraps of wood.

I like this idea but not the end result. I would actually prefer to make the stars from patriot fabric and make them a little bigger so you don’t see the white of that wreath. But I like the theory behind it.

That's it for today. Heading back to work after three days off. Two weeks ago, I was sick for three days. Last week I had two days off but had to take a third one to go to the doctor so it was a four day week. This week is just going to be a four day week as well. Can't wait to get back in my groove and get my schedule straightened back out.
