Too funny not to share....

With all the new cell phones, Facebook, Twitter, etc, we as a nation have developed our own language. We know that TTYL is "talk to you later" and LOL is "laughing out loud" and our teens and youth have taught us many more slang shortcuts to say what we mean by simply using letters. However, some of us old foggies are just not "hip" to the new fangled texting. A friend of mine was kind enough to share on Facebook a list of the current slang letters for us with Senior Moments to use when we are texting. I thought you could use a good laugh to start your weekend so I thought I would share.

MIDDLE AGE TEXTING CODES:

ATD: At The Doctor.
BFF: Best Friend Fell.
BTW: Bring the Wheelchair.
BYOT: Bring Your Own Teeth.
FWIW: Forgot Where I Was.
GGPBL: Gotta Go Pacemaker Battery Low.
GHA: Got Heartburn Again.
IMHO: Is My Hearing-Aid On?
LMDO: Laughing My Dentures Out.
OMMR: On My Massage Recliner.
OMSG: Oh My! Sorry, Gas!
ROFLACGU: Rolling On Floor Laughing And Can't Get Up.
TTYL: Talk To You Louder

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Remember to live well, laugh often and love much!

Who was Annie Armstrong? Each year, we honor the life and work of Annie Walker Armstrong (1850-1938) when we give to the annual offering for North American missions named after her. But until last night, I did not understand the magnitude and impact that this spirit-filled individual left as her legacy.

As a tireless servant of God and a contagious advocate and supporter of mission efforts throughout the world, Annie Armstrong led women to unite in mission endeavors that ultimately led to the formation of Woman's Missionary Union (WMU).

From http://www.anniearmstrong.com/. Annie believed in Christ with all her heart, but it was her hands that expressed that belief in tangible ways. She spent a great amount of time typing and handwriting letters in support of missions. Many of these letters were quite lengthy and all were filled with conviction that more could and should be done in our mission efforts. In 1893 alone, she wrote almost 18,000 letters! Annie also never hesitated to use her hands to reach out to hug a child or distribute food and clothing and the Word of God to those in need. Her hands held her own Bible as she studied to know how best to share Gods love with others. And, most important, Annie was a woman of prayer, folding her hands in prayer to intercede for the missionaries and for those they were helping discover Christ.

Annie rallied churches to give more, pray more, and do more for reaching people for Christ. As we continue to unite to make her vision a reality in North America today, we can be confident that her legacy will also be ours.

Each year, during the month of Easter, Souther Baptist Missionary Churches participate in the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering®

The offering is much more than an offering envelope and an annual missions-giving emphasis. When people give to the offering, 100 percent of their gift will be transformed into missionary salaries and ministry supplies. Those missionaries and supplies will help others hear the message of Christ and respond in faith to His offer of salvation. Time and again our missionaries relate how the offering is their lifeblood. They know that behind each penny given, there is a Southern Baptist who believes in what they do and are affirming the need to equip them to share the gospel with those who need a Savior.

Our pastor shared this with us last night at prayer meeting. We also saw a short video that you can view by visiting Dreamer in Action. In the clip, Annie states "We MUST go foward."  At the time of her passing, her pastor called her ...a woman of great faith...a dreamer in action.

It made me very humble to imagine the hours and hours that this ONE individual lady spent to make a difference in the lives of others. With our busy lives today, it is hard for us to comprehend sitting down and writing letter after letter in an effort to spread the Gospel. We fall short so many times. In Annie's day, travel was not always easy or speedy. Yet, she managed to travel across the continent sharing the message of God, helping the needy, providing a hug and comfort to many.

But how many times during the altar call do we stand silently, watching someone sitting close by struggle with need and we do nothing about it. Do we daily tell people about Christ and share His love? Do we dig deep in our bible and share His words, His plan of salvation? Or do we simply donate a small item here; a dollar or two there and justify it with "Well, I've done my part." Annie believed we needed to do more, pray more and give more. Not everyone has the means to give back and God understands. But how much more could we pray. When someone says pray for me or my loved one, do you say "I will" then go on and forget about your committment. Do you say "Dear Lord take care of this situation. Amen" and go on your merry way? Or do you drop to your knees and have a deep heartfelt talk with God asking for His help in the situation.

Annie Armstrong should be a reminder to woman and men everywhere. God blesses us daily. Spread His word and teach others how to be blessed as well.

Mid week madness.....

It is Wednesday. That wonderful day of the week that can bring on the "blahs" or can cause you to start looking forward to the weekend. My week has been a week of wild and crazy things. Business exploded for me on Monday and I put in a 11 hour day at the computer and on the phones before I came up for air. Tuesday consisted of putting the finalizing touches on a couple of projects, working a registration table for a couple of hours, running to the store, bank and post office. Then I spent an enjoyable evening with hubby for his birthday. Now it's Wednesday. What will my day bring today? I've been up 30 minutes and already made a quick sweep through the house doing any picking up or straightening that needed done. I've got a ton of emails to get through today and several client appointments. It's a good thing I love a fast pace.

On the brighter side, by Wednesday afternoon, I start looking forward to church. A time of peace and comfort. Once evening arrives, that means we just have two more days until the weekend. Which is a curse and a blessing. We get to start feeling that excitement of time off. We start planning what we will do, giving us something to look forward to. We think, "Just two more days until the weekend." Which is immediately followed by the thought "Oh no! Only two more days until the weekend. I have to get this done and that done; etc."

But I know that God will bring me through the week, just as He brings through everything else. I trust that each of you are having a great week and looking forward to an even greater weekend.

I want to leave you with a little chuckle to get you through the day today. My cousin posted this on Facebook and it gave me a good laugh...

A real woman always has a clean house, empty laundry basket, is well made-up, smells good, slim, healthy, eloquent and is perfectly well-behaved. Copy this status if you are beginning to suspect that you are a man.

Reasons why.....

Here is the reason you should check to make sure a restaurant has kid's cups before ordering a toddler a   small milkshake.....

She stayed all night with us while her Mommy was out of town Saturday and I did not think this through.
It is simple math......

1 two year + one chocolate shake = very late bedtime

And to think, I wondered why I was so exhausted on Sunday.

Deals of the day...

I found some good deals Saturday in my shopping. I needed some 8.5 x 11 scrapbook paper for a Children's Church project and some for a Vacation Bible School craft. So I headed to the Scrapbook Store 50% Off store. I love this place. It is a division of the Scrapbook Store, but the wonderful part is most items are marked down anyway; but when they total your purchase an additional 50% is taking off your total order. Normally, this size paper is 4 for $1.00, making it ring up at 4 for .50 cents. Well, yesterday was apparently "let's get rid of old stuff" day. I walked up to the paper and the sign said "25 sheets for .99 cents." So I bought 50 sheets. It rang up at $1.98 and after the 50% off button was hit, I paid .99 cents total for all 50 sheets. I was so excited.

Before the scrapbook store, I stopped at a local community yard sales. I love to scour yard sales. I am always on the lookout for teapots, tea cups or tea for one sets at a good deal. I have found a few but they are hard to come by. Normally, when I find them the prices is $5 or $10 because the owner knows they are collectibles. Imagine my joy yesterday when I found this little set for only $1.00. It was a perfect addition to the new spring look in my kitchen.

Over the years, I have tried to "copy" many decorating styles I saw in older homes. I tried Americana, rustic, early American, many different things. But my absolute love for flowers always got in the way. I could never find things I really liked but when something had to do with flowers, birdhouses or butterflies, I would fall in love with it. I finally decided I could admire others decor, but I was sticking with my love of flowers. One of my bathrooms is floral, butterflies and birdhouses in the whole room. It's one of my favorite rooms in the house. It has all the colors of spring in it. So you can imagine how I had to snatch this little bargain up for the bathroom at only .50 cents.

Am I on the right road?

Yesterday was a beautiful day and I had several places I wanted to go. Before the day was out, I had traveled through three counties and logged many miles. But it was a beautiful day and I love to drive. As I was going to my final destination of the day, I was traveling along a road I have only been on a few times in my life. I'm just beebopping along when it hit me...am I on the right road? My granddaughter was asleep in the backseat and Greater Vision was blasting on the radio. This was the beautiful view out my front window. Blue sky, green grass, not a car in sight. That's when it hit me. "I don't know where I'm going!" So I picked up the phone and dialed a dear friend and called to ask "How do I get from HERE to THERE?" Am I going the right way? Did I go to far? I was getting into a little of a panic mode. But she gave me good directions and I got to my destiny without mishap. I thank her for her guidance.

Is there a point to all this? Yes, there is. God works in mysterious ways. This was just another of life's little lessons.

I was going to do my blog this morning as Down an open road, BUT GOD, as my dear friend likes to say, had other plans. As I posted the photo, the words Am I on the right road? came to my mind. As I started typing, I began to realize that yesterday was just one more of those God moments. So often in life, we get lost in the effort of day to day struggles that we sometimes forget which road we are supposed to be traveling. Should I turn left? Should I turn right? Or should I just turn around and start all over again? Is the correct road right around the next corner or did I pass by my turn by being too cautious and missing the road sign? Do you struggle with what you should be doing? Which road you should be taking? Does God often put your turn signal on, but you hit your brakes to decide if you want to turn? When you are on the road of life, do you face each curve in the road, riding your breaks and expecting it to be one of those hairpin curves that puts butterflies in your tummy? We shouldn't. Instead, we should face those curves with our feet on the gas, full speed ahead and know that God is in control, He directs are paths and all we have to do is keep our hands on the wheel and follow His roadmap for us. If you do, I guarantee you will be in for the ride of your life
