That sweet baby boy....

....is now a teenager.

I have a teenage grandson. Unbelievable. Thirteen years ago today, my son and his wife gave me my very first grandchild. I wish I had the words to convey how it felt to hold that tiny little baby in my arms the very first time. I thought my heart was going to burst with the love that filled it up.

You love your children and they mean the world to you and that never changes. But a grandchild! Be still my heart. There isn't anything in the world that compares to seeing little bits of your own child show up in your grandchild.

Christian Garret. My first grandchild. I can't believe it has been 13 years.  13 years of birthday parties.

Thirteen years of smiles.

Thirteen years of fun.

Thirteen years of sparkle.

Thirteen years of mischief.

Thirteen years of laughter.

Thirteen years of love.

Happy birthday, Garret. We love you.

Fun Friday

My mind is in one of those random modes today. That means this is one of those posts that is just going to hop from topic to topic.

I can't believe tomorrow is already St. Patrick's day and that Easter is just around the corner. If you are looking for ideas for a centerpiece for your table, check out these cute ideas shared by my niece Amy. She has created some adorable centerpieces. I love the idea of using jelly beans for this one.

But this one is my favorite. I forgot to ask her where she got the egg placemat. Maybe she will leave a comment and let us know. The flowers look so real, I wonder where she found those as well. Guess next time I need to ask more questions.

How cute is this little bowl? I saw it on Etsy one day. Isn't it just adorable.

Wouldn't you just love to set down to this table for breakfast.

I am absolutely infatuated with this crystal and pearl necklace charm.

Another table setting that makes me want to pull up a chair and make myself comfortable.

I want to share something with you that I have been checking out. It is called Listia.com. It is a site similar to E-Bay, except you can't make any profit. The purpose is to post things you want to get rid of for free and let the buyer pay the shipping. You earn credits to bid on auctions of items you would like to have. Just by signing up and adding an item to sale, I started out with over 600 credits. There are all kinds of items on there. You bid like you do on E-bay. I am going to show you a few things I'm bidding on in the hopes that no one goes on and outbids me when they see it on here. :)

This was just too beautiful not to "bid" on. The cost will be whatever the exact shipping is. It should run around $5.00. Wouldn't be a bad price for this.

I have looked and looked for a crumb brush for years. But I haven't been able to find one I like. I really like this one and the shipping would be $3.00

I am looking for some milk glass vases and this set of three comes with a cute little napkin holder as well. The cost would be whatever the exact shipping is on these.

This next item is not one I am bidding on because I don't have enough credits yet. I need to list some more of my items. You get 100 credits for each item you list for auction and then you get the number of credits that the winning bidder had bid. This item is at over 600 credits right now. The cost of this one would is FREE shipping so if I were to bid and win, I would just get it. I love those kind of bargains.

Check out this set of three Sherbet cups. They are going for over 1200 credits right now and whoever wins them will only pay $6.00 for shipping and the seller will have 1200 credits she can spend.

People even place brand name items such as Coach purses on Listia.com. This one has 41 people bidding on it and the bid is currently in the 40,000 area. Shipping is free. But imagine what the person who listed it can get for 40,000 credits.

These are from Crate and Barrel. Right now, the bid is only 100 credits and the shipping is free. This would be a great buy for anyone!

I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Anyone can sign up for Listia.com, but if I send you an invite, you can get 100 extra credits for signing up. You can sign up to get the free 100 extra credits if you use this link http://www.listia.com/signup/1138442.  Registration is free and easy. If you would like me to send you an invite, just comment with your email address or send me a request to my email at mamawsplace@gmail.com and I'll send you an invite to get you on your way.

I am LOVING my bath decor....

...I have decided on the color scheme and decor for my master bath. I know, you are probably saying "thank goodness!"  It has taken me long enough. I have went from beach to peach and everything in between. I have tossed the lavender/lilac idea back and forth. I am happy to announce that yesterday, I just decided...THIS IS IT. Hubby hung my new curtains (I had hesitated hanging them since I was not sure what I was doing in there so we have just had blinds.)

I scouted around the house and found everything I needed to get the change in progress. I can always add to it as I go along, but FINALLY I have a bath I am happy in. I am going with lavender/lilac shades along with some green. I plan to use things that go with flowers and gardens, hence the little garden scene in the curtains. I love wicker baskets so I use a lot of those as well. I still need to paint the walls white, but hubby's work schedule hasn't allowed time for that yet so we will get to it soon.

Time for the unveiling....

I had purchased this little dish for $1 at a local antique store. I am on a kick about using cute dishes for soap. So this became a soap dish on one of the sink counters.

I have this basket box I bought years ago at Basketville in Myrtle Beach. I use it for cotton balls on one of the sinks. In keeping with the basket theme, I found a little one for Q-tips.

I also found some wicker baskets from other parts of the house that could be used for lotions, brushes, etc.

On the other sink counter, I put this little dish that was also $1 at the antique store. I want to look for lavender soap if I can find some. Any suggestions where I should look?

I had shared this before but I just love the idea. I used a tea for one to hold Q-tips and cotton balls on the other sink.

I moved these from another room into the bathroom. The flower candle "house" is one I have had for years. My daughter-in-law had given it to me as a gift and I have always loved it. I am so glad it goes so well with the new bathroom color scheme. See the little bear on the figurine of the girl? The bear is loose and both the granddaughters like to take the bear and open the candle box and set it in there. Alexis started doing it years ago and she showed it to Shelby so now when the bear is missing after a visit from the girls, I know where to find it.

Check out the detail in these curtains. The picket fence and flowers is what made me decide to go with the garden theme in the bathroom.

Here is the complete sink #1. I used a towel I had that has some green leaves on it for now. I want to find some in lavender or lilac to replace it eventually.

The other sink still needs a flower pot for my philodendron. I'm watching the stores for the perfect find. I love the towel with the butterflies on it. Nice touch to my "garden". I had made the wreath years ago with ivy and a green bow. I'm going to look at AC Moore and Michael's to see if they have any silk wisteria. If I can find any, I'm redoing the wreath and making a lavender/lilac bow. I need to replace the blue clock with some type of pastel or floral clock.

The garden tub corner needs another white wicker basket. But I am just using what I had for now. As soon as I can find a white basket, I will switch the brown one out. I also would rather have a lavender vase with some white and lavender/lilac flowers in it but I haven't found one yet. This will do for now. The little white basket holds lavender wash clothes. Beside the flower urn is a mulberry candle on one side and an egg pill box on a stand and the egg is covered with purple African violets.

So here is the look from the door.

It's nothing fancy or elaborate. It's not DIY worthy nor is it anything spectacular that makes you go ooh or ahh. But it's my little piece of paradise and I am happy with it.

Rachel's Ramblings - Blue & Pink

This is Rachel and I am here to take over Sis's blog again. I have become obsessed with Pink and Blue. I wanted to share some of my recent antique and thrift store finds with you.

Some of my finds came from an antique store in Kentucky and some from an estate sale.

My husband has even gotten into my collecting and will occasionally bring me a piece I'm looking for.

This was my favorite find of the day this past Saturday. My Pyrex coffee cup for .25 cents at Goodwill.

And I just had to have this Fiestaware cup. Look closely and you will see it has a Fiestaware pitcher and vase on it. How cute is that?

I love the way my Pyrex bowls go so good with my plates.

These pink plates and the bowls are so cute together.

Some of the above items I already had, so I incorporated my finds in with them. I also picked up some items that weren't pink and blue. I loved this old rolling pin.

And I found these old crocks and put some material and a bread cloth I had on hand to make this.

I love my crocks.

This is a vintage 1950's picnic basket. It was in excellent condition.

Since I get to ramble when I invade the blog, I thought I would share my new table runner and decorations I put out for St. Patrick's Day.

Thanks Sis for letting me do a guest post. I just love stopping by to visit with you.

Wish I could have been there....

Mom and Rachel went for an all day Goodwilling-thrifting-antiquing-shopping trip. They went north of their town to a little town called Milton, WV. After they were done there, they went back to Rachel's and her hubby took them to Ashland, KY to a big antique store down there. They found some awesome finds.

These were some of Mom's favorites. She was thrilled with this little doll from the Goodwill store for $2.00.

Mom also found some good deals on these two dresser scarves at the antique store.

Mom doesn't do computers so we keep her posted on things. We recently told her about Pinterest and Rachel told her about Amy's centerpiece. So Mom picked up some items at the $1 tree and this is what she created for her first Pinterest Challenge for just $3.00.

Rachel found some wonderful buys as well. She also made a new table runner and sent me some awesome photos. But she wants to stop by for a visit to talk about her obsession with pink and blue and to share some St. Patrick's love with us. Since she likes to visit and take over my blog once in a while, I have decided to assign her posts their own theme so we will be featuring Rachel's Ramblings whenever she gets the urge to stop by and visit with us.
