15 Faves Under $5

I've been scouting around Etsy again. I have found some cute vintage items for under $5.00. Here are Fifteen Favorites. What amazed me that a lot of the items had shipping of just $1.00 or $2.00 which still kept them under the $5.00 mark.

This vintage vegetable peeler caught my eye because it was in my sister's favorite color for her kitchen. This was just $2.00.
Kats Kaleidoscope

These little vintage coasters are cute. They were $3.25 for a set which I don't guess was too bad.

I also liked this set of linens. These were just .20 cents, but I forgot to see what shipping was.

I fell in love with this pink tray. I don't know why I am liking trays so much any more but this one was really cute. The tray was just $1.80. Not bad.

They also had a cute green one which was also $1.80

I love tins. I have a few in the kitchen, living room and office. This one would be a lovely addition to the kitchen collection. Just $2.00 is a good deal on a tin.

I have been collecting vintage recipe boxes. This one would be cute to own. The price on the box is $4.00, which is a little expensive to me since it is kind of beat up, but I do like it.

I found a Grecian Pyrex gray pattern the other day that I really liked. Etsy has this same pattern in a green. The price is $2.25 which isn't a bad price for Pyrex dishes from what I am seeing everywhere.

A couple of nice Melamine bowls. They were $2.50 for the set. I still keep hoping to find some with designs at a yard sale or antique store.

A unique shaped Ball jar. Wonder why they don't make them like this anymore. I like it but thought a price tag of $2.50 when there was no lid, was a little steep.

I really like this little bowl. I have on in solid gold from Pyrex Vision Ware set, but this is too cute. A price of $2.95 for any Pyrex is a good deal.

And this is called a Pyrex butter bowl. I didn't even know there was such a thing. It was $3.00. I wonder if they came with lids or not?

This is just a plain white custard dish, but for some reason I am really liking the basic white in dishes and such. It was $2.00.

This is a Taylor Smith Taylor pattern that I really like. I need to find out what it is and find some stuff in this pattern. It is precious. The price is $2.50.

And last, but not least, vintage Tupperware Cookie cutters. It said it was a turkey and a gingerbread man, but I have never seem a GB man that looked like this. They were $2.50 for the pair.

What have you been finding lately?

Weekend Wrap Up

I had a great weekend and got quite a bit accomplished. I cleaned house and set out some of my fall items. I still have some other items, but they are Halloween so will need to wait till next month.

I decided to put my new candle on the coffee table. I found the little pumpkin on the right at a yard sale this summer for just .25 cents with an unopened bag of potpourri in it. It smells like pumpkin pie.

A couple of little candy dishes on one of the end tables. I want to find a little orange votive candle to set between them.

My scarecrow and pumpkin. I have had that pumpkin for almost as long as I have been married. Hubby bought it for me one year and it is one of my favorite fall decorations. When you turn it around, it has a jack-o-lantern face cut out and you set it over a votive candle to make his eyes glow. He works for fall and for Halloween.

My scarecrow for the front door. I have had him for several years and it always makes fall feel more real when he gets hung up.

My Harvest Angel. She gets set out every fall. She is wooden and similar to a Jim Shore piece. I found her at the Maples Tree in Gatlinburg a few years ago. I picked up the little "rock" at the Dollar Tree yesterday.

On Saturday, I hit some yard sales. There weren't many and there wasn't a lot of good finds, but I did pick up a couple of cute things. On Thursday, Ms. Patrice from Everyday Ruralty kindly showed us a collection of tin houses she had accumulated. Now, I had seen a few of these over the years and have always loved collecting tins so I thought it might be fun to see if I could build a collection of these tin houses. That was Thursday and on my first yard sale on Saturday, walked up to the first table and saw this. For just .50, I have a new item to collect. Ms. Patrice, I hope you will not mind me borrowing your idea to collect these. They will go nicely with my other tins.

A couple of yard sales later, we stumbled on this little salt and pepper shaker set. Since I am trying to accumulate some items for a new tablescape for Thanksgiving, I just fell in love with these. Before I could decide for sure, my daughter snatched them up and bought them for me. She said "we" needed them for Thanksgiving.

We stopped off at Walmart and I decided to see if they had any "different" candy. I'm so tired of the same old candy bars. I almost had a heart attack when I realized they had brought back my all time favorite candy...Brach's Malted Milk Balls. They have been gone from this area for over 5 or 6 years and I have mourned them every day of that time. I snatched up two bags ... just in case.

Got some new nail polish that is a gorgeous color of brown. Perfect for fall.

Yesterday, my daughter took me and her mother-in-law to McKay's Book Store. I was able to find the newest book in my Sweet Magnolia's series. I can't wait to start it tonight.

And I was looking for something that I hadn't read that came in a series. It is hard to find an entire series at a book store. But I stumbled on one that I thought looked good, whipped out my phone and checked the Internet for all the titles in the series and lo and behold, they had them all. I was thrilled. It is the Twilight, Texas series by Lori Wilde. I am excited to start this series since each book revolves around the women in a "club". They are either knitting, quilting, baking or gardening. I love reading books with underlying themes of hobbies I adore.

Well, the weekend is over so time to get back to work. Hope you have a great week. One good thing about a four day weekend is that now I just have a four day work week to get through.

Some New Discoveries

I received a new catalog in the mail last week, Home at Five. The items were rather expensive, but I did like these bottles.

And these pillows

 And this clock.

I spent some time on Pinterest this past weekend. I saw one item that made me stop and ask Why? Seriously, I love to decorate and I love neat stuff, but fancy hangers in a closet that nobody sees but me? I don't think so.

And this one gets a big fat NO WAY from me. It talked about wanting pretty nails but hard to do one hand or the other, depending on if you are left or right handed. They suggested you paint the nails the way you want them on a Ziploc bag then peel it off and put on your fingernail and cover with a top coat to "set" it on your nails. Excuse me? It is hard enough for me to get the time to paint my nails, much less make it such a detailed process. And wouldn't one mess up while you were doing the next one?

Now I did like this. I am not a talented person when it comes to drawing or art, but I think I could do this with the help of stencils. It is small art canvases and they painted them and tied a ribbon to look like Christmas gifts. How cute.

I recently talked about doing something in my laundry room. First step is to replace my wall coat rack which is cheap white plastic. Wouldn't this be cute in the laundry room? Assorted painted outside faucet handles on an old board.

And I fell in love with this outfit....only flat heeled ankle boots and no scarf.

This is a cute idea. Do you ever have a votive jar or glass vase that you want to put a candle in and need some filler around it? They spray painted coffee beans to use as a filler. Love it. Apparently used a chrome type paint, but you could use any color you wanted.

What's been catching your eye lately?

Sunday's Songs

My prayer for you today is that God is blessing you and that you are having a wonderful weekend. Here are some of my favorite songs that keep me uplifted and help me through the rough patches life throws our way.

A good visit

We visited Double R Farms yesterday and as usual, we weren't disappointed. I am not sure what it is about that place that draws me to it, but I know that when I leave I always feel better.

There is something nostalgic about visiting a small country produce store where the owner knows your name and cares enough about his neighbors to spend a little time visiting with you. That's how it is when you go to the Double R Farms. The proprietor, Roger, always takes the time to make you feel welcome. He is still filling the shelves and every week we go there, he has added something new.

There is a wide variety of fresh produce. Lots of opportunity for fresh veggies without having to spend hours and weeks in the garden. We actually had some of the cucumbers with fried chicken, potatoes and corn for supper last night. Now that is a good country meal.

Hubby got a few of the muscadine grapes and said it tasted like he was eating Welch's grape juice. He declared them delicious.

There is a variety of jellies to choose from, proudly carrying the Double R Farms label.

And some pure mountain honey made from mountain wildflowers in North Carolina.

Next visit, I am going to pick up some blackstrap molasses to make some gingerbread this fall and maybe a jar of sorghum.

We bought some of this Holy Smoke Barbecue sauce last week and it is delicious. The chow-chow is a recipe from Roger's family. He let us sample some of the pickles and they have a good heat to them. Very different from what a normal pickle but very good. He even has some gluten free products for those who need to watch their diet.

And what country store is complete without a big barrel of raw peanuts in the shell along side a candy stand.

If you like country ham, Roger assures me this is the best ham you will ever eat. He was talking about ham and biscuits while we were there and it made me want to hurry home and cook something.

I was pleased to see one of our church cookbooks on the shelf. There are some great recipes in it and I have had the benefit of tasting a lot of them at church gatherings.

Roger's pumpkins are in and his wife has already tried some out for a pie that was proclaimed to be "mighty tasty".

There are a few watermelons left to finish off summer.

One thing that fascinated me was Roger's Recipe Line. He has printed up some recipes that can be made using some of the products and produce he sales. See one you like? They are numbered so just let Roger know which one you want and he will print it out for you on the spot. I think I am going to nickname it "Recipe Row".

And if you are lucky, Roger will pull down the guitar and pluck you a verse or two of one of his favorite songs, I'll Fly Away.

He got his label in for his private labeled bottled water. The water should be arriving soon. I am very excited about this because there is a little story to go along with the water. I'll be sharing it soon so stay tuned to see what is so important about this water.

Guess you could say we had a good visit at Double R Farms. Hope you enjoyed your virtual visit with me.

Y'all come back now.

Happiness is....

Happiness is a four day weekend. Do you ever have one single thought and then it leads to another...and to another...and to another. That is my mind today. I was thinking about the four day weekend and what to do with it and I thought....

I don't have a clue what we will do to kick off the weekend, but hubby is off so I'm sure we will find somewhere to go today. I know we will stop by Double R Farms. Since the produce store has opened, we stop in once a week at least. Last week we picked up some awesome barbecue sauce and some fresh veggies. Need to check out the blackberry jam today and I'm sure hubby will snag some more of the little pickling cucumbers.

...and that reminded me that we were almost out of the strawberry jam we buy at Double R Farms. By the way, if you are ever in the area and stop by there, be sure and pick some up if you like strawberries. Best in the world and has big chunks of real strawberry in it.

...and while I was getting the jam out of the fridge to show you, it reminded me that I made oatmeal cookies yesterday and that I was ready for a snack so I grabbed some and a glass of milk and went back to the office. Then I had a call about a Thirty-One order I am turning in Monday so I sat down at my desk to work on my calendar for September.

....and when I got a coaster for my milk, that reminded me that I hadn't made any new ones in awhile and that I needed some new colors and I need to make some for a Pay it Forward Craft project on Facebook. I need to make one for Norma and one for Phyllis. But I need to find my note to see if there was anybody else. So I pulled some of the ones I have made to see what one I want to put in the office.

...and that reminded me that I had two coasters done that I had not yet trimmed the edges. I don't know how I can do an entire coaster and FORGET to trim around the edge. But I have two that I need to get completed.

....which reminded me that Sis's box is almost finished. One more side to trim on the lid then I can start sewing the whole thing together. My aim is to finish it this weekend. Just got to check with her and see if she wants it mailed or if she wants to pick it up when she comes to visit this fall.

...and that reminded me that I have already started her a gift box for when she comes down. She and I are always exchanging gifts when we visit each other. This year, I am collecting her some vintage items. So far I have this cute pink, yellow and black apron that will be cute for October and a nice patchwork quilt in fall colors. I also have her a vintage apron for Thanksgiving. Over to the left is a little golden yellow bread basket napkin and this Pyrex plate to match her favorite Pyrex mug. Need to hit some more vintage stores and yard sales to pick up a few more things for her. I guess you can tell I love my sister.

...and that reminded me that I should make her a couple of fall coasters for her desk and work and craft room at her home. I have all these lovely new yarns that I haven't used yet. So I think I will work on some crafts this weekend.

....and that reminded me that I had taken the flags the Pre-K Sunday School class made and glued them on the dowel rods this week. So that is one craft project I can mark off my list. The flags will be used on Grandparent's Day for breakfast and a show the class is doing Jesus Loves Me. Stay tuned to see more on the show later.

...and that reminded me I need to mark the flags off my list...which reminded me of how many things are on my list...which made me realize I had better get off here and get ready to head out for the day with hubby.

Have a great weekend!
