Some unique Pyrex patterns

I may head back to Farmhouse Antiques #2 tomorrow. I have been thinking more and more about the Pyrex restaurant style dishes. Plates and platters are a weakness of mine. I don't just have one particular plate I like to eat from, but one particular plate for certain foods. For example, I have a plate I only use for my Franco American Spaghetti O's and another that is used every time I have soup and grilled cheese...and so on.

But the more I look online at the Pyrex Grecian Gray platters, the more I want to go back and buy two of them.



I found some more on E-bay that I liked. This one is called Copper Filagree.



And I love the little Blue and White striped cups.



And how adorable are these Pyrex Bronze Milk Glass cups.



Some sites call this pattern a Red Fern, but I don't know if that is the right name or not. But I do like it.



I couldn't find the official name of this pattern, but some places refer to it as simply the skillet pattern.



This is the first Friday in a long time that I haven't taken off. It feels weird and I don't like it. But you gotta do what you gotta do. Hope everybody has a great weekend.

Top 10 Awkward Moments

...when you are driving down the road and honk and wave like a maniac at a friend....only to realize it wasn't them.

...when you pull into the gas pump and you are on the wrong side...so you pull out, circle around and pull back in....and you are still on the wrong side...you finally get parked, go in and pay...then you go back out, get in your car and leave....without pumping your gas!

...you place a fast food order, you drive up to the window and pay, they tell you to pull to the next window and you drive off forgetting to get your food. 

...you order a Wendy's single with cheese, pickle and mustard...and you are at McDonald's. 

...you get the giggles when it is not appropriate to laugh and the more you try not to laugh, the harder and louder you do until you actually snort.

...you go to the self-checkout at the grocery store...you scan all your groceries and you see your total...the machine won't take your money...you get the cashier to help and she simply presses the "Pay Now" button.

...you are walking in the middle of the mall and trip and almost fall...and there was nothing in the floor.

...you run outside to get something out of your car real quick in your jammies because it's early and nobody will see you...only to walk off the porch and hear your neighbor say "Good Morning"

...you run into an acquaintance in the store and simply smile hello because you know that you know her from somewhere, but can't remember where...seeing your smile, she stops and proceeds to ask about the family, work, church and then proceeds to tell you what is going on in her life...after 10 minutes conversation she hugs you goodbye, tells you it was so good to see you again and goes on her way...you turn to hubby and say "What was her name and how do we know her" and he has no clue. 

...you see your turn up ahead and you try and try to get into the other lane so you can turn...only to get there and realize that is not your turn...your turn is in the lane you were originally in so now you have to try and try to get the same people you were slowing down to let you BACK into their lane.

As embarrassing as it is to admit, yes, these are all things I have done (some more than once). I apparently tend to get distracted and don't think clearly. Can I blame it on being 55? 

Please tell me you have done at least ONE of these so I won't feel like so alone.

15 Faves Under $5

I've been scouting around Etsy again. I have found some cute vintage items for under $5.00. Here are Fifteen Favorites. What amazed me that a lot of the items had shipping of just $1.00 or $2.00 which still kept them under the $5.00 mark. 

This vintage vegetable peeler caught my eye because it was in my sister's favorite color for her kitchen. This was just $2.00.

These little vintage coasters are cute. They were $3.25 for a set which I don't guess was too bad.

I fell in love with this pink tray. I don't know why I am liking trays so much any more but this one was really cute. The tray was just $1.80. Not bad.

I love tins. I have a few in the kitchen, living room and office. This one would be a lovely addition to the kitchen collection. Just $2.00 is a good deal on a tin.

I have been collecting vintage recipe boxes. This one would be cute to own. The price on the box is $4.00, which is a little expensive to me since it is kind of beat up, but I do like it.

I found a Grecian Pyrex gray pattern the other day that I really liked. Etsy has this same pattern in a green. The price is $2.25 which isn't a bad price for Pyrex dishes from what I am seeing everywhere.

A couple of nice Melamine bowls. They were $2.50 for the set. I still keep hoping to find some with designs at a yard sale or antique store.

A unique shaped Ball jar. Wonder why they don't make them like this anymore. I like it but thought a price tag of $2.50 when there was no lid, was a little steep.

The Pink Countertop

I really like this little bowl. I have on in solid gold from Pyrex Vision Ware set, but this is too cute. A price of $2.95 for any Pyrex is a good deal. 

From Lost to Found

And this is called a Pyrex butter bowl. I didn't even know there was such a thing. It was $3.00. I wonder if they came with lids or not?

This is just a plain white custard dish, but for some reason I am really liking the basic white in dishes and such. It was $2.00.

Apple and Einstein

This is a Taylor Smith Taylor pattern that I really like. I need to find out what it is and find some stuff in this pattern. It is precious. The price is $2.50.

And last, but not least, vintage Tupperware Cookie cutters. It said it was a turkey and a gingerbread man, but I have never seem a GB man that looked like this. They were $2.50 for the pair.

Weekend Wrap Up

I had a great weekend and got quite a bit accomplished. I cleaned house and set out some of my fall items. I still have some other items, but they are Halloween so will need to wait till next month. 

I decided to put my new candle on the coffee table. I found the little pumpkin on the right at a yard sale this summer for just .25 cents with an unopened bag of potpourri in it. It smells like pumpkin pie. 

A couple of little candy dishes on one of the end tables. I want to find a little orange votive candle to set between them. 

My scarecrow and pumpkin. I have had that pumpkin for almost as long as I have been married. Hubby bought it for me one year and it is one of my favorite fall decorations. When you turn it around, it has a jack-o-lantern face cut out and you set it over a votive candle to make his eyes glow. He works for fall and for Halloween. 

My scarecrow for the front door. I have had him for several years and it always makes fall feel more real when he gets hung up.

My Harvest Angel. She gets set out every fall. She is wooden and similar to a Jim Shore piece. I found her at the Maples Tree in Gatlinburg a few years ago. I picked up the little "rock" at the Dollar Tree yesterday. 

On Saturday, I hit some yard sales. There weren't many and there wasn't a lot of good finds, but I did pick up a couple of cute things. On Thursday, Ms. Patrice from Everyday Ruralty kindly showed us a collection of tin houses she had accumulated. Now, I had seen a few of these over the years and have always loved collecting tins so I thought it might be fun to see if I could build a collection of these tin houses. That was Thursday and on my first yard sale on Saturday, walked up to the first table and saw this. For just .50, I have a new item to collect. Ms. Patrice, I hope you will not mind me borrowing your idea to collect these. They will go nicely with my other tins.  

A couple of yard sales later, we stumbled on this little salt and pepper shaker set. Since I am trying to accumulate some items for a new tablescape for Thanksgiving, I just fell in love with these. Before I could decide for sure, my daughter snatched them up and bought them for me. She said "we" needed them for Thanksgiving. 

We stopped off at Walmart and I decided to see if they had any "different" candy. I'm so tired of the same old candy bars. I almost had a heart attack when I realized they had brought back my all time favorite candy...Brach's Malted Milk Balls. They have been gone from this area for over 5 or 6 years and I have mourned them every day of that time. I snatched up two bags ... just in case. 

Got some new nail polish that is a gorgeous color of brown. Perfect for fall. 

Yesterday, my daughter took me and her mother-in-law to McKay's Book Store. I was able to find the newest book in my Sweet Magnolia's series. I can't wait to start it tonight.

And I was looking for something that I hadn't read that came in a series. It is hard to find an entire series at a book store. But I stumbled on one that I thought looked good, whipped out my phone and checked the Internet for all the titles in the series and lo and behold, they had them all. I was thrilled. It is the Twilight, Texas series by Lori Wilde. I am excited to start this series since each book revolves around the women in a "club". They are either knitting, quilting, baking or gardening. I love reading books with underlying themes of hobbies I adore. 

Well, the weekend is over so time to get back to work. Hope you have a great week. One good thing about a four day weekend is that now I just have a four day work week to get through. 

Some New Discoveries

I received a new catalog in the mail last week, Home at Five. The items were rather expensive, but I did like these bottles.

I spent some time on Pinterest this past weekend. I saw one item that made me stop and ask Why? Seriously, I love to decorate and I love neat stuff, but fancy hangers in a closet that nobody sees but me? I don't think so. 

And this one gets a big fat NO WAY from me. It talked about wanting pretty nails but hard to do one hand or the other, depending on if you are left or right handed. They suggested you paint the nails the way you want them on a Ziploc bag then peel it off and put on your fingernail and cover with a top coat to "set" it on your nails. Excuse me? It is hard enough for me to get the time to paint my nails, much less make it such a detailed process. And wouldn't one mess up while you were doing the next one? 

Now I did like this. I am not a talented person when it comes to drawing or art, but I think I could do this with the help of stencils. It is small art canvases and they painted them and tied a ribbon to look like Christmas gifts. How cute. 

I recently talked about doing something in my laundry room. First step is to replace my wall coat rack which is cheap white plastic. Wouldn't this be cute in the laundry room? Assorted painted outside faucet handles on an old board. 

And I fell in love with this outfit....only flat heeled ankle boots and no scarf. 

This is a cute idea. Do you ever have a votive jar or glass vase that you want to put a candle in and need some filler around it? They spray painted coffee beans to use as a filler. Love it. Apparently used a chrome type paint, but you could use any color you wanted.
