Some upcoming estate sales...

This was my view outside yesterday morning. 

It was 4 degrees and my boss agreed we should work at  home till we saw how the roads got. This was my road at 9:00 yesterday. Needless to say it didn't get much better.

We have had some of the coldest days I ever remember these past few weeks. I can't wait for spring and yard sales and estate sales. I did notice that Craig's List is already listing some upcoming estate sales in my area. So I decided to do a little dream shopping. I don't know if I will make it to any of them or not. But if I do, here are some of the things I want to look at. I love this old Hamilton Beach mixer. I have the big mixing bowl but have not been able to find the little one. The ad says this still works perfectly and they are selling the whole set for $30. Wow, what a deal

One place had this old swing for $20. I would love to have it and paint it white and cover it with pretty throw pillows and an afghan draped across the back.

Do you remember these TV trays from the 60's? These are the sturdy ones not those flimsy ones like you find today.

Love this typewriter.

This would be perfect for my back deck. We really need to do something with it. It has nothing on it at all since we don't use it, but it is visible from the back road and looks blah.

This would be a great table for my craft room.

I love this rocking chair. It would be perfect in the corner of my living room.

Love this little quilt. I want to find some used quilts this year at yard sales but don't want to pay an arm and leg.

Well, my "excursion" into estate sale land is over and I enjoyed checking everything out from the comfort of a warm house. Can't wait till spring. 

Top 10 Tuesday

Today I am showing my Top 10 favorite Easter/Spring craft ideas I saw on Pinterest. Some of these will be good for my Sunday School kids. And some are ones I would like to make for home. 

I want to make a few of these to sit around my house. They look super easy and fun to make.

I am think we need an Easter part for Sunday School class and let the kids make these little cups. we could fill them with jelly beans or Smarties. 

These stuffed bunnies are just too cute. They would be adorable sitting in my living room in a little Easter basket.

Plastic spoons, a clay flower pot and a little paint.

The kids would love making these. Especially the girls. 

Now, these are just too adorable. I need a small pastel Pyrex dish to fill with these "eggs" to set in the kitchen.

We strung eggs last year and made a wreath. I think this year we will do some garland and decorate the room if Missy wants to.

Love it! I am all about using paper plates for crafts. Twenty plates for a buck at the Dollar Tree.

How cute is this. The only thing I can figure is that they have used bunny Peeps as a "sponge" in glitter paint. I think it would be cute to pre-print a 4 x 6 photo on an 8 x 10 paper and print the Hanging with My Peeps. The pic will be of all the kids in class together and then we can sponge paint around the picture. How cute would that be. Something they could keep for years. 

If there is something my SS Kids love it is anything that involves pipe cleaners. And I love anything to do with felt so this is a perfect combo for class.

Weekend wrap up

First, just let me say I am so sick of wind! It has been that bone chilling, knock you back a step, freeze your face off cold wind for the past week or more and I for one am over it.

Saturday, we had a baby shower for a dear friend from church. A special thank you to one of the partners, Ms. Jama, for the awesome decorating job. She is very talented and the shower turned out really good.

After the shower, I went to the grocery store and headed home to veg out the rest of the night. Sunday was Sunday School and church. In SS Class we made googly eyed Valentine's people. The kids gave me one to bring home.

After church, I fixed me some assorted cheese and crackers with some apples dipped in caramel for dessert. Most of the afternoon, I spent working on a Thirty-One order and trying to decide what I wanted to order for myself! I know I want a new zipper pouch and I think it will be in the Teal Mod Dot. I'm going to have it personalized with SS Crafts. I'm not sure what else I want.

I went back to church last night. We started a study on Christian Beliefs. It was really interesting. I can't wait to go back again next week. 

I stopped and got Burger King for our supper. Then I just relaxed and watched TV till bed time. It was a very good weekend.

Sunday Morning Song

I saw this sign on Facebook this morning and fell in love with it. I am going to print it out to remind me that faith and patience goes hand in hand.

A lot of people, myself included, have been picking their word of the year for several years. My word this year is believe, but the word of my life is FAITH. It is something I hold steadfast to. Many a times in my life I have struggled through things and no matter how down I get, I have always been able to keep the faith that God had better things in store if I could just hold on a little longer.

Faith is the very foundation of my life. I cannot imagine a life without faith.  

So I have picked my song for this morning from an old gospel hymnal. This has been a favorite of mine since my old church choir started singing it back when I was in my teens. 

My front porch....

Like most of the country, I am over this extremely cold weather. The low 20's kill me. To get up and see 15 on the outside thermometer has been bad enough, but this morning it was 1 degrees when I left for work. 

That was enough to throw me into a depression. So I starting thinking about spring and what I want to do with the front porch. I want to replace the old porch swing that is metal with a new wooden swing. I love wooden swings and they bring back memories of going to Grandma Garretson's or sitting out in the yard and Mom & Dad's. I would really like to find a white one at a good price this spring.

 

My plan is to place nice fluffy cushions on it to make it a great place to sit and relax or read a good book. 

I loved my Swedish Ivy plant last year, but it is too much care required and grew so large that I had no where to put it in the house so I couldn't bring it in this winter. My first year here, we had Boston ferns and I loved them. I am going back to my ferns this year. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed them until I didn't get them last year. 

In my search for spring flowers, I found some unique ideas for flower outside. Being a lover of tea pots, I thought this was cute even if it is unrealistic. First, the expense of the teapots. Second, the ease with which they could break. But it is cute. 

I just love this. My back deck is so bland and has nothing on it. I am thinking of decorating it this spring with a gardening theme. This would be adorable on a type of gardeners work bench on the back deck.

I just absolutely fell in love with this. Of course you would have to watch what type of finish you put on it before you sit it out in the weather. It sure is pretty though.

Now this I could easily do. I have tons of random tea cups and this would be cute on a little table on the front porch.

A great idea for an old chair whose seat is worn out. 

There are so many ideas and ways to decorate. I can't wait till spring gets here so I can get started.

Friday Finds

Sometimes late in the evening when there is nothing on TV, I like to scout around and check out vintage items on Pinterest, Ebay and Etsy. I like to look for things that catch my fancy in the hopes that I my find them "in the wild" someday. I don't order online. I like the thrill of scouring thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales, and antique stores to find what I want. But I do like online window shopping to get ideas.



The first thing I found this week that caught my eye was this Pyrex carafe. My favorite pattern in Pyrex is Town & Country which consists of medallions. They are sometimes all brown and sometimes they are a mixture of yellow/orange and brown. When I saw this beauty, I just knew I was going to have to start looking for one for my Town & Country collection. 

I also stumbled upon this. But I am not sure who made it or how old it is. I forgot to write that down. But I do know that I think it is very cute. I would guess late 50's early 60's since it was pink. That seemed to be popular during that time. 

One thing I found I had seen before but have never been able to find it in the wild. It is a pitcher that is made by Arcopal. Arcopal is a French based company that has made Pyrex for sales in France for years. These are some of their earlier pieces that I really like.

It's been a good week.....

My hubby knows I love him, but he swears he thinks I like the delivery men just as much.

This past week has been full of goodies. I've had the FedEx guy and the mailman come to my door, which always means I have a new goodie. The mail man was the first to arrive. I got this awesome Pyrex coffee carafe. It was a trade from my Pyrex group. From my research, it was from the 1960's and is referred to as Mod Black and Mod Flowers. I am not sure if either one is correct, but I know I love it. It is so clean and shiny that it doesn't look like it was ever used.

Another item I got on a Pyrex trade group, was this precious tulip creamer. I just saw it for the first time last week and then it showed up for trade in one of my Facebook groups so I traded a Pyrex coffee cup for it. I am in love. The colors go great in my kitchen and the tulip is something I am incorporating into my spring kitchen decor this year. It is just too adorable.

Then the FedEx guy came knocking. I had ordered a new mini-zipper pouch from Thirty-One and it arrived. They have this whole new whimsical bird theme on some of the new products and I just had to have this.

I am constantly on the go and have had several people tease me about flittering here and there. Plus my favorite movie of all time is Disney's Summer Magic. In that movie they sing a song called Flitterin' which was one of my favorite songs from the movie. So when I decided to order the little birdies, I just had to put Flitterin' on it for the personalization.
