Top 20 Tuesday - Pillows

My Top 10 expanded to Top 20 today because I found so many pillow projects I loved. I have left the credits on the pictures if they had them. These all came from Pinterest and there were so many layers I could not find who to give the original credit to. This first one is simply sewing 5 pillow cases together, stuffing them with pillow and sewing them closed. What a great idea for kids to lounge around on to read or watch TV.

I am really getting into burlap ideas. My friends keep coming up with great projects for burlap so I am really loving this next pillow. I love the beach and I am thinking that is what I am going to do the kids room in...a beach theme. 

This little bow pillow is cute, but I am not a fan of gray so I would use something more colorful.

Last year, I made some bags with appliques on them for Christmas. I kept the patterns so I can use them to make some throw pillows for Christmas.



I fell in love with this. I don't think it gets any cuter.



This would be so precious to make with the hand prints of all my grandchildren. This is definitely going on my to do list.



I love cable knit sweaters. I have several I can't wear any more because the sleeves have shrunk up but I hated to part with them. I am going to recycle as pillows for this fall and winter.



This one would be very cute for Valentine's Day.



Talk about simple. Pretty lace or trim around a burlap pillow. Simple but elegant.



I am not crazy about the color of the pillow, but love the concept.



This is really cute. And easy for people like me who hates that final step where you have to hand sew the end after putting the pillow in.

Lace and pearls are always a great pillow idea if you are a girly-girl.



My sister does this all the time. It's a placemat pillow. Simply use a seam ripper on one end of the placemat. Open it up, stuff it and sew it back closed. Easy pillow.

Weekend wrap up

Thursday night, I was going through some things and found this picture frame I forgot we had. It belonged to Allen's grandmother. I think I will paint the frame and add chalkboard paint to the glass.

I stopped at a little thrift shop on Thursday after work and found this pitcher for $3.00. I just put on here Wednesday that I wanted a glass pitcher for lemonade and then found this. It was meant to be.

I had the day off Friday so I decided to hit some yard sales and antique stores. Afterwards, I went to Walmart and the grocery store. I love my Thirty-One products when I shop. Was able to carry all my purchases in my new bags and only had to make one trip from the car to the house when I got home. 

I found this beautiful vintage table cloth for just $1.00. It has some stains on it but I didn't buy it for a table. I am going to make some throw pillows from it. My friend did one and I loved it. 

I picked up this little pillow for just $1.00 as well. 

I think the two will go well together for pillows for the trunk at the foot of my bed.

I took my Boscul peanut butter glasses to a local antique store to see if she wanted to buy them. She did so we did a store credit for part of them and cash for the rest. With the store credit, I found this baby face milk jug that Hubby has been looking everywhere for. I got it for him and put it in his Easter basket. He was thrilled with it.

I love the Pyrex casserole bowls. Town and Country is one of my favorite patterns. I collect it in the brown and in the yellow with brown patterns. I hope to find more pieces for my collection this summer. I did find this one on Saturday. Hubby made the baked beans in it for Easter dinner. 

I also collect the Colonial Mist pattern and these smaller bowls are one of my favorite items. I was glad to find on in this pattern.

At a yard sale, I found this little yellow gold candy dish. I have one just like it in milk glass at work. This one is going in my office/craft room at home. Of course, there will Junior Mints in it.

I saw this little bowl and just fell in love with it for .25 cents. When I got home, I had forgotten I had one just like it. Oh well, now I have two. I put this one on my dresser to put my watch and rings in.

These colors in this cup are the favorite colors of a good friend of mine. She collects coffee cups so I just had to get this one for her.

My master bath has a beach theme so this little seashell dish was perfect to put cotton balls in on my counter. 

In Sunday School class on Sunday, we made these little Easter baskets for our craft and filled them with candy. I can tell the ones who really enjoy the crafts because I hear them discussing the "pattern" they are going to create with their foam stickers. It was so neat to see the different patterns they came up with.

After church, Hubby and I relaxed around the house all day. Then he fixed us an awesome Easter dinner. We vegged out the rest of the evening. It was a really relaxing day and I'm ready to hit the work load first thing this morning.

A vintage office

I want to incorporate some vintage items in to my office decor at my house. I would love to find an old vintage typewriter in good shape. I would like an Underwood/Olivetti or a Remington since that is what I learned to type on in high school. 

I would like to have a vintage typing stand to put it on. I have been noticing online that many people take those old gray or tan ones and spray paint them in a different color. I have seem pink, blue and mint green. I would probably do the same thing because gray or tan is just blah. 

I wouldn't mind finding an old typing manual as well. It would be fun to go back and test my speed using one of those old manuals. 

I would also love to find an old black rotary dial phone. We had one when I was growing up and as much as I love new technology, I miss those old phones that fit so good in your hand and on your ear.

I also miss the old fountain pens with the blue cartridges. You can still find some today but they are still just as messy as they used to be. 

However, Staples has a brand that looks and writes like the fountain pens of old, but it is not refillable and doesn't leak. It is disposable like any other ink pen only it writes in that fine point like the old ones did. I am going by there today and may need to check it out. 

It is funny that even though so many things change in the office world over the years, the steno pad is still the same. You can can fancy covers on them, but the paper is the same old two column paper is always was.

I would also like to find a vintage adding machine. 

Does anyone remember these old adding machines. I am only 57 and I graduated in 1975. But in my Senior year, I took business machines and this was one of the adding machines we learned to use. Now this is old fashioned. 

Well, I am heading out today to get food for Easter dinner. My children both spend Easter day with their in-law families. But Hubby and I still have a fill dinner for the two of us. We will be having ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked beans, corn, macaroni salad, potato salad, deviled eggs, dressing, hot rolls and white cake with chocolate icing. Yummy! I can't wait. Blessed Redeemer

As we reflect back to this day thousands of year ago, it is with bittersweet thoughts. My God gave His only Son to suffer great pain that we could never begin to comprehend. He let Him bleed and die on that cross...for me, for you, for us all. Yet how many times do we stop and think about how He must have felt and to know He could stop the pain and suffering and any given moment by saving Father, I don't want to do this. It hurts. Help me. But He didn't. My Saviour, my Jesus, hung on that cross slowly dying. You wonder if He looked upon Mary and made eye contact. How did she feel to see her baby boy suffering so. And his disciples who were so faithful and who loved Him so, how must they have felt as they stood by and watched what He was suffering through and yet they could not intervene or help. The sheer torment of that day breaks our hearts, brings tears to our eyes and our minds can never ever understand a love that strong that would go through such agony just so we could be free. I dedicate this blog today to my Blessed Redeemer. The one who gave His life so I could live. The one walks beside me every day of my life. He picks me up when I fall and loves me no matter what. Just some random stuff....

I stopped by a thrift store recently and they had this Bakers Rack for a little over $30. I wish I had somewhere to put another one in my house. My first thought was thinking how much Pyrex it could hold. But since I had nowhere to put it, I had to leave it behind. 

My husband did a friend of mine a favor and she rewarded him with a carrot cake. He has been enjoying it the last couple of days. It was homemade from scratch and he says it is delicious. 

The same friend played Easter Bunny and brought me a basket of tea cakes to take to work today to share with my co-workers. Of course, I tried them out last night. I love these. She has made them before at a church bible study I attended and they were a huge hit then. And I know they are going to be a huge hit today.

This same friend makes the crochet dishcloths that I am so crazy about. She makes them for me all the time. She always gives me two. One for me and one for my friend Stevie Marie. I love the pretty spring colors in these.

I saw the neatest idea on Pinterest. I shared it on Facebook and my daughter pointed out they look like spider webs not doilies so just imagine it with different doilies that don't look like spider webs. 

This reminded me of a picture our boss's wife bought for the new office. Here is the picture but it was in a distressed old frame. 

I fell in love with it and decided to recreate it using my friends old typewriter. I was telling my hubby about it last night and said I was going to look at yard sales for some old frames to use. That triggered his memory about some old family pics we had put up in the closet. It made us curious to see if we could determine who the people were. When I got them down, we had this one frame that belonged to his grandmother that I had forgotten about. I am thinking of painting it a barn red and using chalkboard paint on the glass and hanging it in my kitchen. What do you think?

One of the pics was really old. We are not sure who they are but we do know it was one set of his great grandparents on his mother's side, just not sure how far back it goes on the "great" part. 

We found this one as well. By comparing it to old photos I have on his dad's side, we figured this to be his great, great grandmother sitting down, but not sure who the lady is standing beside her. We believe it to be one of his great aunts. I need to find all this out. 

I have the day off tomorrow so I plan on looking for yard sales and visiting a few antique stores. I love when we have a three day weekend.
