Gearing up for the day....

Been busy this morning. I had some housework to do before heading out for a shopping excursion with my daughter.

I also spent some more time on pulling stuff out for my yard sale.

I changed purse since my new Thirty-One purse arrived yesterday.

And I changed the comforter on the kids bed since I bought a new one yesterday....

I'll have some pics to share with you on Monday. In the meantime, I would like to leave you with a smile.....

Pyrex dry spell

I still love my Pyrex, but it seems to be harder and harder to find unique pieces that don't cost an arm and a leg. I have decided to add some Glasbake vintage items to my collection as well. So I went looking around the internet just to get ideas. I fell in love with the pink dot bowl.

And Oh. My. Gosh. Who would not want to find these? They are gorgeous. I never knew such a set existed.

Here is a close up of a red one.

And this deep bowl just made me go crazy. What a big mixing bowl for making all kinds of goodies in.

This was unique. I have never seen this pattern before anywhere.

And square cups? I am dying here. These are just too stinking cute.

But this set really stole my heart. I have been looking for a couple of years for something in this tulip and checkered pattern. I am putting this on my must have list.

And this has already been on my wish list for quite a while now.

This is adorable. I love yellow.

I have seen Glasbake around for years. Now that I actually want some of it, I will probably never see another piece.

An easy, delicious cake with 2 ingredients

Hubby saw an easy cake on Pinterest that he wanted me to make for him. It only has two ingredients. Angel food cake mix and pie filling. The original recipe called for apples but when we went to the store he saw this new pie filling called Peaches & Cream by Lucky Leaf.

And of course, I picked out Duncan Hines for the cake mix. I won't use anything but Duncan Hines. The cakes are so moist.

I gathered the two ingredients with my favorite vintage Pyrex mixing bowl and preheated my oven to 350°.

I dumped in the cake mix.

I opened the pie filling. By the way, if you need a good hand can opener, you need to get one from Pampered Chef. I have had mine for four years. I ended up doing away with my electric one because this one is so awesome.

I dumped the pie filling in the bowl.

I used my mixer to get it stirred together really good till all the cake mix was mixed in well with the pie filling. Keep in mind this was creamy pie filling so the texture is a little different than what an apple pie filling would be.

I poured it in my pan and baked it for 25 - 30 minutes.

It turned out a nice golden brown so I let it cool.

And this was the finished product. It was divine. I'm making him the apple one this weekend.

My mind is going

The whole month of March and most of April, I stressed over one thing. My Easter egg wreath I made last year.

Easter egg wreath. Eggs, floral wire and ribbon from Walmart. Total cost $6.00. For instructions to make this, visit http://mamawsplace4.blogspot.com/2012/03/easter-craft-projects.html

I went straight to the closet I knew it was in. I moved everything around and to get to the area I knew it was in. I opened the box I knew it was in. It wasn't in there. So about once or twice a week I would go digging through everywhere I could think of that I might have kept it. This went on for about 6 weeks. I never could find it. Finally about a week before Easter, I broke down and made another one from leftovers I had on hand. The colors weren't as pretty. I didn't have enough to make a big one so I had to make a mini one. I didn't really like it, but at least I had my wreath. After Easter I took it down and put it somewhere where I could find it next year. Then the other day, I was laying something on the closet shelf and this caught my eye....

You got it. A nice neat box labeled Easter Egg Wreath. After 6 weeks of tearing that closet upside down, how in the world did I ever miss that box!! I guarantee you I will know where to find it next year.

Top 5 Tuesday

I love The Voice. I have not missed one single moment of it since it started. This season is down to the top 5 . I have narrowed my list to the top 3. I am a huge fan of Jake, Kristen and Christina, but can't make up my mind which one I want to win. There have been some good performances this year. Here are my top 5 favorite performances.

5. Wrecking Ball - Christina Grimmie. She has been my favorite from the very first song of the very first show of this season. She still remains one of my favorites.

4. Heaven - Jake Worthington really nailed this one. I liked him from the beginning but this song really put him way up on my list. He's probably at the top right now in my mind.

3. Chainsaw - This was a great performance. I think Jake and Kristen did a fantastic job.

2. Counting Stars - Again, Christina voice and her range just blew me out of the water.

And my #1 favorite performance was Kristen Merlin on Two Black Cadillacs. I love her voice.

I just can't decide which of my three faves is my absolute favorite.  I guess we will see who stays tonight and who goes home and I will narrow my list from there.

Weekend wrap up...

I had a great weekend. It started out by talking to Mom on Friday and finding out she got her gift I made her for Mother's Day. Another successful Pinterest idea. I had my friend at Stevie Marie's put the Mamaw's Tennessee Garden on the material. Then I got the hand prints from each of my 5 grandchildren and put them on the fabric to make Mom a wall hanging with her great-grandchildren from Tennessee. She loved it.

Then my daughter-in-law gave me my Mother's Day gift from her and my son. You know how I am about flip flops. Love them.

Hubby got me two new shirts which are very comfortable.

And my daughter got me a new shirt to go with my new flip flops.

I went to JC Penny's on Saturday and they had an awesome door buster sale going on. I treated myself to this little ring for just $7.00. I thought it was adorable.

And at Walmart I finally found some flowers for my milk glass vase. I have pink in my home office so these look great in there.

And to celebrate my new pink phase, I bought me some pink nail polish. But then I was too tired to do my nails so I haven't used it yet.

It was an awesome weekend.

Happy Mother's Day to the world's greatest Mom.

I have one of the best mothers in the world. She has taught us all so much over the years. She is one of the most courageous women I know. Over the years she has beat colon cancer, an aneurysm, and most recently breast cancer. She has done all this with courage and faith.

She raised four children who love her dearly and have very fond memories of all the things she has done for us over the years.

She took us to church and raised us to know the Lord. She has always set an example of being a good Christian woman. Even though we went to church every single Sunday growing up, Mom did not get saved until I was 16. But she had set such a good example and lived such a good life that when she got saved, a woman that had known her for years said to me "I was so surprised when your mom got saved. She is such a good woman that I thought she was already a Christian." What a wonderful testimony of her life and the way she was raising us.

The years have gone by so fast and even though we don't see each other like I would like, Mom has been the cornerstone that keeps us all together. She raised four children who are still close in heart even though we live miles apart. Any time I visit, she tries to get as many of us together as she can.

This is me and Mom on her 80th birthday. My sister, Rachel, brought her down for a week for us to celebrate her 80th birthday.

It was one of the best weeks.

Even at 80 she was still going strong. We ate at some of her favorite places down here.

And spent the entire 7 days just hanging out and being girls.

Now she will be 84 in June and she just beat breast cancer. She is still going strong. We are so blessed to have her with us and expect her to be around many more years.

I love you Mommy. I hope you have the best Mother's Day ever.
