Happy Birthday, Mommy

Happy birthday to my Mom.

She has played such an important role in my life and I cannot imagine her not being there for me.

When we were growing up, we always came first. She always made sure we had clean clothes and kept us well fed. She made sure we learned our manners and how to treat others. She did all those wonderful Mom things, like "Wash behind your ears." "Brush your teeth." "Always wear clean underwear."

She is my best friend. Even though I live far away, she is always with me in my heart. We share so many common interests...our love for Scrabble, Rummy, Rook and Yahtzee. Good romance novels. Chocolate. Ice cream. Shopping. Sunday drives in the country. Baking cookies, cakes and candy.

We both love changing out our purses before we go shopping. We both love our plain white canvas tennis shoes. We both love to craft. We both love our Prell shampoo and our Dove soap. We both love to sit down with a big bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup while we read our books.

Everything I am today is because of this beautiful woman. I love you Mom and thank God every day for all the love you have given us and for all the times we have shared.

Have a very, very, very Happy 84th birthday.

Weekend wrap up...

After my busy crazy week last week, I took it fairly easy this weekend. I did run to Knoxville with my daughter for a quick trip to A.C. Moore where I found some $1.00 sales items to create a door hanger for our hotel door at the Thirty-One National Conference.

It turned out pretty cute. Now some of the other girls want me to make some for their rooms.

Before we went to Knoxville, Shelby and I ran over to check out Kodak Heritage Days. She got her face and arm painted by her Aunt Marsha at the event.

When we were at A.C. Moore, I saw this cute little bird. I think I might try to make him.

I didn't feel like doing much when I got home, but I did get started on the kids room. I have the new comforter on and the new anchor pillow. I put out some of the beach shells and dolphins. But I still need to cover some of the pillow. It's a start. I just didn't have the energy to do anything else.

Sunday, I went to Sunday School and church and then had a bowl of ice cream for lunch. I went out to sit on the porch swing for awhile. There was a cool breeze blowing so I got a throw pillow and laid on the swing and slept for over an hour. Hubby grilled some chopped sirloin on his new grill and we had that with corn-on-the-cob, french fries and tomatoes and cucumbers for supper. It was a lazy day.

VBS - A week in review

We had a fabulous VBS with an average of about 300 kids per night. We had a lot of souls saved and saw a lot of growth in these children. Here are some of my fave pics of the week. We will star off with a couple of boys I had in Children's church for a couple of years. They are a couple of characters.

Showing off some dance moves.

A bunch of our silly girls. They are a fun group.

Say "Cheese".

B.F.F's.

I loved watching these two do the music.

A very dear friend with two of my grandchildren.

Shelby and Tanner. Best buddies this past week.

Our four year old class.

Some of the kindergarten kids.

This little boy comes with his grandparents. He has adopted me and calls me Mammy B.

Some of the kids having fun.

These teachers were making sure to stand way back during the water balloon fights.

Our famous train. The kids love to ride the train.

Taking a quick break before heading in for music.

My grandson and my friend exchanging texts so they could add each other to their phones.

It is a tradition at our church to walk with Bubble Faces and Duck Tales to may sure we don't disturb other classes. These girls loved doing the Bubble Faces.

Of course some of our teachers loved it too.

Some of our kitchen crew. Probably the hardest workers at VBS.

Hanging out between sessions.

This couple has three kids 4 years old and under. Caught them enjoying a rare moment with no children.

The popcorn and snow cone crew. My personal favorites.

Our dedicated leader. This was her first year in charge of VBS and she did an outstanding job. Everything flowed smoothing. Thank you Tracey for making this an awesome VBS.

One tuckered out little cutie.

Working on our songs for family night.

I don't know where they got all their energy.

Mr. Zack wanted his picture saluting the flag. He is a very sweet boy.

On stage during family night.

This is K through 6 grades. We had a lot of kids and a lot of fun.

Shelby (r) and her best friend Megan (l). They have been in Sunday School, Children's Church and VBS together since they started walking.

As you can tell, we had a fun week.

Facebook Finds

I love looking at the various posting on Facebook. Some are precious, some our profound and some are just down right hilarious. I thought I would post a few for your viewing pleasure.

This was just too cute.

I love this one. I personally know a lot of Cancer survivors. Many are in my own family.

So true, so true. Wish more parents understood this.

Oh, yes, please punish me if this is my punishment.

This is profound.

Amen is all I can say to this.

Being a natural brunette, I can relate to this.

And this was my favorite pic of the week. I really laughed out loud when I read this one.

Have a great day!

Something to share from Mom

My mom made a couple of new runners. I love when she makes these. The newest ones are beautiful.

It's easy to see where my sister gets her decorating gene.
