Fun Things

It is my turn for Children's Church crafts this week and even though it is the day after Valentine's Day, I think we will have a little celebration. After the music and story, we do crafts. For our craft, the kids will color or draw whatever they want on a paper plate and then tape a craft stick to the back of them.

While they do that, my teen helpers will be rolling some popcorn cones from scrapbook paper and I'll bring some pre-popped popcorn from home so they can fill them.

A friend of mine folded me some coffee filters and I will put a little piece of paper around them to make cookie holders.

Coffee Filter Cookie Sleeve - Adorable!
Perfect use for all those filters I don't use leftover from the cone!

We will cut out and print these hearts to go on the straws of the juice pouches.

After the snack, we will let them play balloon badminton.

It should be a fun day.

These are a few of my favorite things....

There are so many things around the house that bring me joy. Things that I just enjoy looking at or having around me. Most of those things evoke sweet memories and make me feel good. Some of them are very simple. This is crazy, but my lace valances are all special. I have them on every window in the house. When we moved in, we needed something for every window and I shuttered at how much that would cost. It turned out a friend of mine owned a lace store years ago and still had unopened packs of curtains and valances. She invited me over and I was able to get everything I needed. Then she totally amazed me by not accepting any money for them. She gave me every single pair! I tried to pay her several times and she wouldn't. That is a true friend. Now every time I look at my windows I think of her.

I love getting up in the mornings and simply pushing a button and having an instant fire. Our fireplace we got in December has been a sheer enjoyment on these long cold winter nights and early mornings.

Over 20 years ago my hubby bought me a Royal Dalton Old Country Roses tea set that I had wanted for years. Now it sets on my tea cart with pictures of my family. I have this on the wall past my couch so when I lay and watch TV I can look at my family any time I want.

This pitcher and bowl belonged to my mother-in-law. When she passed away, my father-in-law gave it to me. I had bought it for her years before when I had a Home Interior party. Mom made me the runner to go under it.

Just a simple wooden sign but it makes me smile every time I look at it. My grandkids gave it too me and it means the world to me. Mamaw is the best title I have ever had.

I never get tired of my fabric and silk bouquet...especially the striped and the lacy ones.

And I love the spring feel to my flower arrangement in my tea pot. I think I need to fine one or two purple flowers to incorporated for some contrast especially since the tea pot has a purple one on it.

I love looking at my achievement board with Thirty-One. Until you become a Thirty-One consultant it is hard to understand why we all get as excited as we do. Becoming a consultant was one of the best decisions I made.

This tea set was a gift from my son and daughter-in-law. I never get tired of looking at it. Two of my favorite things in my life that me and Daddy both loved were cardinals and dogwood trees. And this tea set from the Lefton Company has both of those. This is one of my prized possessions.

When I was in 8th grade, I read the book Little Women and loved it. When I got older, my son bought me the hard back copy and my daughter helped me get two of the dolls. Jo on the left was my favorite.

I love my Sister shelf. It has pictures and what not's that remind me of the awesome trips we have taken together at the beach. It was always just us and our spouses. We had some awesome times.

I wanted tea for one sets in pink, blue and yellow for my office. I found each of these at various yard sales. Two of them were $1.00 for the set and one of them was just .50 cents for the set. Best yard sale finds ever. I got the cat and the hobnail milk glass at a yard sale for .50 cents each and the little polka dot tin was just a dime. The two little flowers were the first yo yo's I ever made.

I love surrounding my self with lots of color and lots of things that bring back memories.

Thank you Mr. UPS

I think the UPS man and my hubby are getting to be on first name basis. My Thirty-One business is doing very well this year. Simply taking up orders has not only earned me the entire amount of my conference registration fee, but has allowed me to be the Hostess of the party and earn tons of free products. Here are my rewards from recent parties.

The newest thermal in the Thirty-One family is the Around the Clock Thermal. It is the perfect size for work. No I don't eat that much for lunch, but it gives me room for leftover containers, drinks, snacks, whatever. I am a big fan of the black playful parade pattern.

However, pink and turquoise are going to be my signature color this year. I love the bright pastels and if you know me at all, you know I love floral. This mini zipper pouch is one of my favorite items and you have no idea how many of these I have and I use them all. Let's just say they rate right up their with my love of flip flops.

At the end of last year, I bought one of the wine colored All About the Benjamin Wallets. I ordered this at the end of January while they were on sale. I love the wallet and just HAD to have it in pink. It is as gorgeous as I had hoped it would be.

There is so much room in this wallet. It has 13 interior card slots, 3 compartments, a flap for check books and a zipper for your change. I can even put my smart phone in one of the 3 compartments and zip it closed.

I went ahead and got the strap that went with it.

Since my phone fits in it as well, I can use it as a wristlet when I don't want to fool with a big purse.

But my favorite of all is my new Spirit Pink Zip Top Organizing Utility Tote. I never leave home without at least one bag. I carry a couple of catalogs, some order forms, flyers for monthly specials, etc. It is also great to toss in a phone charger and sun glasses in case I am not going in my car. I wanted on in pink with turquoise writing. I must say I am totally, totally in love with this bag. I couldn't be happier with it.

Nothing like a new bag to pick you up in that phase of winter where you are so ready for spring. Have a great day.

So true....

I totally agree...and it should be called Lay(-on-the-couch-and-veg-out-)Day.

A little break....

I am taking a little blogging break for a couple of days. I will be back on Monday. So much sadness this week. First the loss of my dear friend. And today our community had a car accident that killed 3 teens (15, 16, and 18) and injured another (18).

My grandson was friends of the 15 year old. The 15 and 16 year olds were brother and sister. That poor family. My heart grieves for them all. The whole county is devastated for the families and the loss of three young lives.

Please pray for these families.

I will be back next week. Thank you for your prayers and understanding.

R.I.P. Ms. Norma

Thank you all for your prayers and emails for my dear friend Ms. Norma. Ms. Norma went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday night.

She was such a fine lady. Never had a bad word to say about a soul. She was a true inspiration to anyone who had been through something that shook their faith. Many, many memories of times talking to her about her faith and what all God had done for her. We loved talking about the old days and vintage stuff we missed. She knew how much I loved crafting with the kids at church and was always sharing ideas with me for projects for the little ones. One of our favorites was these little bears.

She also found these little fig newton bibles that she thought would be perfect for VBS.

She shared not only ideas for kids crafts but was always sending me pics of things she thought I would like. My favorite was this bouquet of flowers. I think it would be fitting if I could find the wood to do this for her graveside for Easter.

I will miss you forever Ms. Norma. True friends like you are very hard to find. You touched something in my heart from the first day I met you and I will forever keep my memories close until we meet again.
