Happy Saturday

Lots to do today...

  1. A quick run to the store for last minute items.
  2. Do some laundry.
  3. Straighten up the house.
  4. Put my new tablecloth on the table.
  5. Bake a spice cake with caramel icing.
  6. Make some cinnamon sugar muffins that taste like donuts
  7. Make the potato salad and deviled eggs for tomorrow.
  8. Sew a pillow I bought material for and I am so excited about making
Well, I guess you can tell my day will be busy, busy, busy. Hubby and I have Easter dinner with just the two of us. Both of my children go to the in-laws for Easter. Add to that the fact that Hubby's birthday is on Easter Sunday this year (hence, the muffins in lieu of a birthday cake.) So once I come home from church tomorrow, we will be spending the day together at home. Have a great Saturday.

What to do, what to do....

On January 22, 2013 I posted that I was toying with the idea of taking the leaf out of the dining room table and only putting it in when family comes. But I kept thinking about how many 102" tablecloths I own for that table. But it takes up so much room in the kitchen that I was just so undecided.

Flash forward to April 1, 2015. I came home from work and there was a catalog from a linen company in the mail. I sat right down on the couch to chat with hubby and I was glancing through and found this. One thing you need to know is I love to shop but only at bargain prices. I fell in love with this tablecloth. I have been looking for one like this for years. But then I looked at the price of the 102" one and knew I would never buy it.

I just flipped the catalog around and showed it to Hubby. I said "If it wasn't for that leaf in the table, the smaller size tablecloth is very affordable and I would order me one." Next thing I knew, he is up out of his chair telling me to help him pull the table apart. He takes everything off the table and we put the middle piece in our closet. I now have a table that a 70" tablecloth will fit. I am so happy with how much more room I have.

We are heading out to do a little shopping today since Hubby and I both have a three day weekend. I want to stop by Kohl's and look at sandals for Easter Sunday. I may check out their tablecloths while I am there. I need to run by AC Moore and Target while I'm out. Hopefully I can find what I'm looking for.

Some neat ideas....

I haven't done a Top 10 in a long time. Today's theme is very random. Just 10 things I saw that I loved.

I saw this great idea the other day. Use silicone baking cups in your car cup holder to help keep them clean.

Cool idea!! Put silicone muffin liners in your cup holders. Crumbs and stickiness will become a thing of the past (at least as far as your cup holders are concerned)

I love daisies. This is a beautiful door wreath. They used a galvanized bucket which they painted and distressed. Add some flowers and a burlap bow. Awesome door decor.

This is way too adorable. If I can find some buttons like this, I'm going to try a few for the girls to play tea party. Just ribbon, plastic Easter eggs and a button. Too cute. And if they break, you just glue them back together.

HOW CUTE!! Tea Cups made out of buttons, half an old easter egg and a ribbon for the handle! Totally making these for one of the crafts!

I love these big puffy wreaths. I tried to make one once upon a time. It had disaster written all over it when I tried to teach myself. Need to find me a wreath making class to attend.

I really wanted to try this until I priced designer straws and realized how many packs I would need to buy to get variety. Nope. Don't think I will try it now.

An easter egg made out of those adorable patterned paper straws! love!

Super cute, yet super simple.

I am going to get my nails done really pretty at least one time this year. I say that every year, but I think I just might do it once this year.

Another super cute and simple flower arrangement. I love Mason jars and burlap.

What a great idea for giving some cookies as gifts. They used cup cake liners (baking cups) for under the lid. Too adorable.

I would love to find a vintage cedar chest to go at the food of my bed. I have a wicker one right now. It hold all my table linens, but it is starting to show the wear of time. Wicker doesn't hold up as well as wood so I want to replace it. I love this.

sweet bedroom - love the pink cedar chest and chenille bedspread. Now, this room brings back memories of childhood spending the night with dearly loved grandma's... <3

Well, there is my Top 10 Tuesday items.

Weekend wrap up

This past weekend I went to Real Deal Warehouse. I love going there because you never know what you are going to find. I picked up a couple of these Mason jar lids. They have wire in the top so you can slip your flowers into it for a cute vase and the flower's won't flop.

Some more Mason jar lids. These are to put on your drinks and the hole in the middle is for a straw. Perfect for sipping lemonade while sitting on my porch swing.

Can't wait to start using these.

A trip to the Dollar Tree for some flowers to make a spring bouquet for my kitchen table when Easter is done.

I got these cute little ducklings for just $1.50.

And this little check was also just a $1.50.

Store after store I looked at dresses but my body is just not made for today's dresses...especially if I am trying to be frugal. Found this on clearance for just $13.99. It is so super soft. I will wear it with my white dress pans and some strappy little sandles.

I also wanted to share what Hubby bought me for our wedding anniversary Friday. I love them. My original wedding rings were sized so much over the years that they don't fit any more. I only weighed 90 pounds when we got married and now I weigh....well, let's just leave it at I don't weigh 90 anymore. So numerous ring sizings left the band too thing to let it out any more. I went from ring size 3 3/4 to size 6 1/2. Which isn't bad since it took me 34 years to grow that much. But I am thrilled with my new set.

Sunday was a day of relaxing. I went to church that morning then vegged out most of the day. Had some homemade pizza bread at lunch.

Then I laid on the couch and took about a two hour nap. Later that evening, I just wanted a light supper so I went with my good old standby. Peanut butter and toast fixed under the broiler and a glass of ice cold chocolate milk.

All in all it was a great weekend.

Chicken Wire

I love those chicken wire baskets that you can find to decorate with. Hubby gets me an Easter basket each year with a little candy in it. He always tries to get me a basket that I can use. This year I have asked for a basket made from chicken wire if he can find it. A couple of days after we discussed it, i happened to see some items on Pinterest using chicken wire so I started looking for more.

I love how someone took this old vintage cabinet and made it into something new. Wouldn't this be cute with Pyrex in it?

Transformed a thrift store find into a cute cabinet with open fronts. Kind cute and contry sideboard now with the chicken wire doors.

This would be a simple easy craft.

For a country farmhouse home, this would be an adorable toothbrush holder. Checkout the chicken wire in the lid.

Mason Jar Toothbrush Holder -- make this in just 5 minutes with a few supplies!

Too cute. See the little mini clothespins? This makes for an awesome note board.

I didn't realize you could do so much with chicken wire.

Happy anniversary

Our first family gathering 34 years ago. We were so skinny then.

Our trip to Maggie Valley in North Carolina.

Our first trip to Panama City Beach where we went on our first day cruise to Shell Island.

Our vacation last summer and our first selfie.

Our song. Allen loves to sing this to me.

Our love. Thirty-four years long. Thirty-four years strong. I love you sweetheart with every beat of my heart. You complete me. Happy anniversary, Allen.
