86° is not acceptible.....

...especially when it is in the house.

We came home last night and the air was barely blowing. We checked the filter and changed that. We turned it off for awhile then back on. Nothing worked. So we sit here again .... two nights in a row .... burning up waiting on the HVAC guy to make it out. There were by once but had to go get a part or something and never returned. We are number 4 on their list and were lucky they even popped by. But it is hot and I need some air.

Trying to get organized....

I wish I had a dollar for every time I have posted that I am trying to get organized. I am actually organized per se. I guess what I am working on is getting my organized items into containers for bins that color co-ordinate with my office/craft room. I had a Thirty-One party recently and got the pink storage cube with lid for just $10.00. It went great with my black bin from Family Dollar.

I just got these Thirty-One Oh Snap pockets last week and was trying to decide where to hang them. I had a couple of door hooks. They were great to put the storage pockets on. Each one snaps together so you can use one alone or make a hanging with a many as you want or need.

When I got to big for the "Easter bunny", Mom took over fixing me an Easter basket. When I got married, Hubby took over. He knew this year I wanted a basket made from chicken wire. He found one at Walmart just the exact size I wanted (plus he got me an adorable white with black dot new shirt).

I wanted the wire look to really show so I took out the liner and put it up in case I ever need it. But I filled the basket with cookbooks. My sister and I have this thing about baskets filled with cookbooks. Am I right Rachel?

I am reorganizing my Pyrex displays. This is just temporary, but here is where I want my cookbook basket. Just have to figure out the rest of the display.

I showed you a pillow yesterday made from Thirty-One swatches. This is what I am thinking about using to make my pillow. I love the bird fabric to use for the back of the pillow. I will keep you posted on the progress.

I was looking up yard sales today for this weekend. I found this picture of a teapot a lady has for just $4.00. I fell in love. Then I Googled the teapot and saw it is vintage from the late 1930's - early 1940's and was made in the USA by a glass company that was only in business from 1927 - 1954. I quickly went from "I like it" to "I have got to get it". There are no guarantees on it being there if I drove the 35 minutes to get there. However, she did have an email address so I contacted her to see if she will hold it. We will see. I love it.

Here is a close up I found of one of like it.

The pink and blue will go so good with my living room. I want to put it on my fireplace.

On a side note, I am so glad it is hump day. It is always a long week when you are coming off a three day weekend.

Top 10 Tuesday

It's time for another Top 10 list. There is no rhyme or reason to my top 10 this week. It's just 10 random things that are on my mind.

1. I am planning a yard sale. As I go through the house gathering things, I realized that I have some Pyrex I wish I had not traded for. So I'm going to put some in my yard sale in hopes of selling it. I have done good selling Pyrex in yard sales before. Especially if you put PYREX in your add. Then I want to take what I make from that and go hunting for some more mixing bowls.

2. Speaking of yard sales, I am getting in the mood to go to some. They are starting to pop up on the weekends around here now. One thing I am putting on my wish list this year is vintage aprons.

3. I got a new tablecloth the other day. I didn't find the yellow and white checked I wanted, but I did find one with light blue and yellow. I am very happy with it. I was also very happy with how my chocolate cake and my cinnamon sugar mini muffins turned out for Easter.

4. I found a new drink that I am fast becoming addicted to. Cran-Lemonade by Ocean Spray. It is SO good. It has a little bit of a tangy kick to it. I can't get enough of it....which is probably better than drinking so much Pepsi.

5. A friend of mine ordered some of the Thirty-One Oh Snap! Pockets to hang on her wall to help organize her Plexus business. The result was adorable.

6. I have been accumulated some of the Thirty-One fabric swatches in my business and needed to find something to do with them. There are a ton of ideas on Pinterest. I really like this one and may work on it tonight.

7.  These are super cute and super easy so I may make some of them as well.

8.   I am reading a new book series by Lily Everett. The series takes place on Sanctuary Island, which is the name of the first book in the series. These are not new books apparently because I found some of the series at McKay's used book store. Hoping to find the rest so I can read the entire series.

9. I haven't done any crafting in a long time. I need to get back to doing my plastic canvas coasters. I had some beautiful yarn and some cute patterns. I just need to make myself do them. It only takes an hour per coaster and I memorize my favorite patterns so I can do them while watching TV in the evening. This is one of my favorites to do with variegated yarn. Each coaster turns out different and I never have to stop and change yarn colors. It just works its magic.

10. A friend of mine shared this idea with me on Pinterest for flip flops. Looks great. I just need an extra closet shelf to do it with.

Well, there are my Top 10 thoughts for today. Hope you have a great Tuesday.

Happy Saturday

Lots to do today...

  1. A quick run to the store for last minute items.
  2. Do some laundry.
  3. Straighten up the house.
  4. Put my new tablecloth on the table.
  5. Bake a spice cake with caramel icing.
  6. Make some cinnamon sugar muffins that taste like donuts
  7. Make the potato salad and deviled eggs for tomorrow.
  8. Sew a pillow I bought material for and I am so excited about making
Well, I guess you can tell my day will be busy, busy, busy. Hubby and I have Easter dinner with just the two of us. Both of my children go to the in-laws for Easter. Add to that the fact that Hubby's birthday is on Easter Sunday this year (hence, the muffins in lieu of a birthday cake.) So once I come home from church tomorrow, we will be spending the day together at home. Have a great Saturday.

What to do, what to do....

On January 22, 2013 I posted that I was toying with the idea of taking the leaf out of the dining room table and only putting it in when family comes. But I kept thinking about how many 102" tablecloths I own for that table. But it takes up so much room in the kitchen that I was just so undecided.

Flash forward to April 1, 2015. I came home from work and there was a catalog from a linen company in the mail. I sat right down on the couch to chat with hubby and I was glancing through and found this. One thing you need to know is I love to shop but only at bargain prices. I fell in love with this tablecloth. I have been looking for one like this for years. But then I looked at the price of the 102" one and knew I would never buy it.

I just flipped the catalog around and showed it to Hubby. I said "If it wasn't for that leaf in the table, the smaller size tablecloth is very affordable and I would order me one." Next thing I knew, he is up out of his chair telling me to help him pull the table apart. He takes everything off the table and we put the middle piece in our closet. I now have a table that a 70" tablecloth will fit. I am so happy with how much more room I have.

We are heading out to do a little shopping today since Hubby and I both have a three day weekend. I want to stop by Kohl's and look at sandals for Easter Sunday. I may check out their tablecloths while I am there. I need to run by AC Moore and Target while I'm out. Hopefully I can find what I'm looking for.

Some neat ideas....

I haven't done a Top 10 in a long time. Today's theme is very random. Just 10 things I saw that I loved.

I saw this great idea the other day. Use silicone baking cups in your car cup holder to help keep them clean.

Cool idea!! Put silicone muffin liners in your cup holders. Crumbs and stickiness will become a thing of the past (at least as far as your cup holders are concerned)

I love daisies. This is a beautiful door wreath. They used a galvanized bucket which they painted and distressed. Add some flowers and a burlap bow. Awesome door decor.

This is way too adorable. If I can find some buttons like this, I'm going to try a few for the girls to play tea party. Just ribbon, plastic Easter eggs and a button. Too cute. And if they break, you just glue them back together.

HOW CUTE!! Tea Cups made out of buttons, half an old easter egg and a ribbon for the handle! Totally making these for one of the crafts!

I love these big puffy wreaths. I tried to make one once upon a time. It had disaster written all over it when I tried to teach myself. Need to find me a wreath making class to attend.

I really wanted to try this until I priced designer straws and realized how many packs I would need to buy to get variety. Nope. Don't think I will try it now.

An easter egg made out of those adorable patterned paper straws! love!

Super cute, yet super simple.

I am going to get my nails done really pretty at least one time this year. I say that every year, but I think I just might do it once this year.

Another super cute and simple flower arrangement. I love Mason jars and burlap.

What a great idea for giving some cookies as gifts. They used cup cake liners (baking cups) for under the lid. Too adorable.

I would love to find a vintage cedar chest to go at the food of my bed. I have a wicker one right now. It hold all my table linens, but it is starting to show the wear of time. Wicker doesn't hold up as well as wood so I want to replace it. I love this.

sweet bedroom - love the pink cedar chest and chenille bedspread. Now, this room brings back memories of childhood spending the night with dearly loved grandma's... <3

Well, there is my Top 10 Tuesday items.
