The Voice

There are very few shows that I watch on TV. And not many of those do I watch on a regular basis. But I have never missed an episode of The Voice in the 8 seasons it has been on. Many time my favorite win; many times they don't.  This season I have several that I really like that would make me happy if any of them win. But the one I really, really would like to see win is this young farm boy who is just 16 years old. Last night was probably one of the best performances I have seen of his.  It's getting down to the wire so I was especially happy to hear his name called as one that was moving on.  His style is a little different than what I normally like, but he just has something special.

A young girl at our church has a beautiful voice and has been singing at church since she was about 8 or 9. This is a video of her singing the National Anthem at a local minor league team game 2 years ago. She is graduating high school this year and travels to various singing competitions and has won many, many awards. She just cut her first single at a recording studio. It is called Dishes and is available on iTunes. I am really impressed with how good she has gotten.

I would love to see both of the above young people go far in their careers.

Weekend wrap up....

I had a fantastic weekend. Started out with these two sweeties staying all night. That is my oldest granddaughter, Alexis and my youngest grandson, Colby. They were both ready to eat so I let them pick. Alexis wanted chicken and Colby said that chicken sounded good. I suggested KFC since we went right by there. They both thought that sounded great. So that is where we ended up.

The next morning we headed to McKay's book store to take some books back and let them get some new books. Alexis is my reader. That child loves to read. She was spell bound and I know she will be ready to go back whenever I go again.

After some shopping, we went to West Town Mall because Alexis was wanting Chik-Fil-A but Colby wanted a burger. Me and Colby had burgers and fries from What's Cooking.

Alexis decided she wanted Taco Bell after we got there.

We decided to take Shelby with us Saturday. She opted on the Chik-Fil-A, but after she got it she only wanted the waffle fries. So Alexis finished off the chicken. She ended up getting her Chik-Fil-A after all.

I took all the children back to their houses. When I got home, I decided to finish gathering all the stuff for my yard sale. I moved everything out of the storage closet to go through it and found this Inside Out Bag by Thirty-One that I had forgotten I had. I was beyond thrilled. Earlier that day, I had seen one and thought to myself "I wish I still had mine." Turns out that I do.

We are having a Thirty-One get together for our local teams this coming Friday. I am in the process of making some centerpieces for the tables. I used some Mason jars and some Thirty-One swatches to make the vases. Very pleased with the way they are turning out.

I had bought some flowers to make this little bouquet to give as a gift. I used the Oh Snap! bin from Thirty-One for the vase on this. I am very pleased.

Sunday I finished going through my stuff for my yard sale. I can't believe I am selling off some of my Pyrex. One lady is looking at the scroll and then I decided I know if I want to part with it or not. If she doesn't buy it, I am going to put it back on the shelf.

I debated on the Early American space saver with lid, but in the end I realized I had enough space savers so I didn't really need this one. Also, this is the only Early American piece I have.

Hubby made us home made barbecue for supper Sunday night. It was delicious. I crashed on the couch and watched TV the rest of the evening. It was a really busy weekend, but I had a blast.

Sunday's Song

God's grace is it. The be all and end all that gets us through the life He has given us.

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." - 2 Corinthians 12:9King James Version (KJV)

I love gospel music in any way shape or form. But my true love is Southern Gospel and nothing touches my heart or means more to me than the word to Amazing Grace. It is my favorite all time song in any genre and I love listening to different groups and various people sing it. I love their rendition. So touching. Have a blessed Sunday and may God's grace be sufficient for your needs.

Quick and easy cinnamon sugar bites

Cinnamon Sugar Bites. Quick and easy. I had these crescent rounds from Pillsbury and I wanted to do something with them. So the other night, I decided to experiment without any recipe. Which I NEVER do when I bake. I am well known for saying you cannot use a pinch of this and a dash of that when baking. But it turns out, you can. So here is what I came up with.

I gathered cinnamon, sugar, butter and Pillsbury Crescent Rounds.

I melted the stick of butter in the microwave.

I mixed 1/2 cup of sugar and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon.

I unrolled the Crescent Rounds onto my cookie sheet.

Using a pizza cutter, I cut them into thirds.

I separated the thirds.

I brush all of them with the melted butter using a basting brush.

Then I liberally sprinkled them all with the cinnamon sugar mixture.

I pulled them apart and rolled them into a little bite size piece.

I baked them on the non-stick cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. You know your own oven so adjust your time accordingly.

I just watched them until they were golden brown, which in my oven was 10 minutes.

Then I basted them again with the melted butter.

After basting them with the butter, I dipped them in the remaining cinnamon sugar mix.

And what do you know, I had perfect, delicious cinnamon sugar bites.

Super easy. Super simple. Super GOOD!

Happy anniversary to Chris & Jamie

I want to wish my son, Chris, and daughter-in-law, Jamie, a very happy anniversary today. I count my blessings daily and among those blessings is the fact that God has matched such a perfect couple. They are an example of how a man and wife should treat each other. With love, respect and a little good old fashioned fun thrown in. We were very excited 17 years ago to watch God bless this union. They have given us three beautiful grandchildren. It is so apparent that they cherish and love there children and each other.

Jamie and Chris, I hope you have a very happy anniversary and may God bless you with many more.

Happy anniversary. We love you both.

Lots of goodies

I have been seeing all these people making cupcakes and decorating them so beautifully but I just could never do this. I love making brownies so I thought it would be neat to find some ideas to decorate brownies. Pinterest is my "go to" place for ideas. These look fun to fix and even more fun to eat.

Decorated Brownie Bites.

Brownies on a stick. This is a novel idea and would be awesome for a dessert bar at an event.

START BY MAKING A BATCH OF BROWNIES. RECIPE I USED IS BELOW. I COOLED THEM COMPLETELY AND PUT THEM IN THE FREEZER FOR A FEW HOURS. REMOVE AND LET SIT JUST A FEW MINS. USE A LARGE KNIFE TO CUT THIN RECTANGLES. INSERT POPSICLE STICKS. MELT CHOCOLATE AND DIP 3/4 OF THE WAY. DECORATE WITH CANDIES AND ADD A CHOCOLATE DRIZZLE!

So I thought I could become of the Queen of Brownie Bites. But I couldn't find anything else that caught my fancy. So I thought, "I'll just become the Queen of Dessert Bites". So I checked that out and found this awesome recipe for Angel Food Churro Bites. Don't these look so delicious.

Angel Food Cake Churro Bites - Copy

When I saw the angel food cake in the name, it reminded me how much I also love pound cake so I thought I would see if I could find some pound cake bites. I didn't but I did find some cute baby pound cakes that I would like to try. Maybe with some lemon in them and a lemon glaze.

Baby Pound Cakes | MyRecipes.com Enjoy these pound cake bites for breakfast or as a late-night snack by the fire, or split and toast them with butter. Vanilla bean paste, which can be found at specialty food stores, gives these cakes a sublime goodness. And just as with classic pound cake, we loved the crusty top edges on these, too. #dessert #recipes

While I was looking for pound cake stuff, I found this....Pound Cake French Toast. Can we all say ooo la la. This looks too good to be true and I must try it soon.

Pound Cake French Toast. Ohhhhh yes. I love pound cake. I love French toast. Two in one deal:) YUM.

I am not an apple fan in recipes, but hubby is. He loves muffins and he loves applesauce cake. I couldn't go wrong if I made him these mini applesauce muffins.

Mini Applesauce Muffins with cinnamon and sugar - a quick and delicious treat the whole family will love. Get the recipe on { lilluna.com }

These little muffins are called lemon yogurt sugar mini muffins. But I would probably leave the yogurt out. Yuck.

Lemon Yogurt Sugar Mini Muffins

Of course you can never go wrong with banana bread mini muffins. Almost everybody likes banana bread.

Easy Banana Bread mini muffins taste great and can be made in minutes

I would love to try these with just orange. I don't think I would like the coconut in it. I have an awesome orange glaze recipe. I will have to try these for sure.

coconut & orange mini muffins - made these and i swear they look just like the pic :) delish too!!

This are cute. Cornbread with hotdogs baked inside. I would call this corn dog muffins.

2/13/12 - Jiffy corn muffin mix & hot dogs - made w/ reduced fat all beef hot dogs for me & cheddar hot dogs for Jon. Overall, pretty yummy but messy due to the corn bread falling apart. Jon would eat again but we both agree the hot dog to bread ratio should be 2:1 rather than 1:1

But his just starves me to death and I am definitely going to try it some night. They use crescent rolls for the dough and then fill the little tins with cheese, sauce and pepperoni to make deep-dish mini muffin pepperoni pizza.

I didn't have the time or the room to post every recipe. But if you go do a search on Pinterest you will be able to find all of these. Have a great day and happy baking!

Hubby cracks me up....

Earlier this evening, Hubby was in the living room and I was in my home office checking my Facebook. As I was scrolling down, I saw a post where Hubby had shared something with me. Once I read it, I broke out laughing so hard and so loud at what he posted. I heard from the living "Guess you saw my post." This is probably one of the best laughs I've gotten in a while. Thank you hubby for the laugh, even though it is wrong. You always listen to me....or you are a really good actor.
