Time for a little kitchen change

It is time to start the decor changes in my kitchen due to my new flooring. I was into the pastel, spring colors because my floor was ancient and pale, pale cream with tiny baby blue flowers in the corners of each square. But I love my new floor so much better than the old one. The deeper warmth made me decide to go back to the rich, warm colors and to bring my rooster theme back to the kitchen. I thought about a rooster tablecloth but didn't want to go into a rooster overkill mode. I love burgundy and was looking for a checkered or plaid tablecloth. Found this one at Kohl's online so I just bit the bullet and ordered it.  I can't wait to get it.

I am not just going for roosters but hens as well. I have a couple of roosters I love, but I want to get me a big sitting hen. I am going to Hobby Lobby in a couple of weeks and I plan on looking there. I know what I want and it is something like this.

Although I really love this set.

I will want to keep some whimsy in my farmhouse kitchen. I found this on Pinterest and just new he would look so good in my kitchen. Well, I googled it and found it at a place called Garden Fun.....FOR $26.99. Too steep for my blood. I love to shop, but I am very cheap frugal on what I will spend on something no matter how bad I want it. I am sure I can find something similar at a lot more reasonable price.

Check out this little kitchen timer. I need to see if I can find something like this. Our timer died and the one on our stove works fine, but a lot of times I will have something in the oven and something on the stove top so I really need that second timer.

I have several of these hen salt dips. But I would love to find one in this color.

Well, I have some busy decorating time ahead. I can't wait to get started.

EMERGENCY PRAYER REQUEST!

I have a very dear friend who is is only 29 and has cystic fibrosis. She is in intensive care. Her oxygen levels dropped to low so they gave her oxygen and now it has climbed too high. To much oxygen is just as dangerous for her and she could go into respiratory arrest.

She is a young mother with a beautiful 6 year old daughter. Please pray that they can get her oxygen levels back where they need to be.

Thank you all for your prayers. Feel free to put her on any prayer lists you may have.

Don't remove a dead bush....

As planting season and yard work begins, be sure you check your dead bushes before you yank them out. My daughter recently decided to redo some shrubbery and plant some new items around her home. When they got ready to take out a dead bush, she found this....

We weren't sure what kind of bird it was for sure. But the next day, two of the babies hatched.

And then the following day, the third one popped out of his shell. It wasn't long till Mama Bird was spotted and my daughter realized she had baby cardinals at the end of her front porch. She was able to stand on the porch and zoom in so she didn't have to disturb the birds.

They are in the bush right beside the steps so she passes them every time she comes and go. Mama usually sits on them while the family just passes in and out. Sometimes she flies off, but not very far. Daddy is always somewhere close by and flies in for his check, but so far she hasn't been able to get pics.

They went ahead and left the dead bush for now. But she did plant some new shrubbery down the edge of the driveway.

And along the front of her home.

She posted some pics on Facebook so I asked her if I could use all these in my blog today. I do like this one, but I am not sure what it is.

These are beautiful. I think she said it is a little azalea bush.

Her magnolia tree is blooming and it is gorgeous.

She saw Daddy Bird fly in and check on the babies. Diana sat very patiently and finally got a video of him flying away. She told me I could share it but I wasn't able to get it to work from Facebook. But he was beautiful.

I can't decide...

Okay. I have a Pyrex Town & Country Cinderella 444 bowl which I absolutely love. The problem is that the Cinderella set for Town & Country comes two different ways.

This is one of my favorite patterns. However, I found out that this set comes with the other three bowls in solid colors that match the colors in the big bowl.

But it also comes with the patterns on all four bowls.

So I have found the solid brown to go with it for the solid set. And then I found the second from the top bowl to go with the patterned set.

Do you see my dilemma? I am ready to try to complete the set. Question is, which set do I complete? The one with the pattern and three solids or the one with all the patterned bowls. Both sets are gorgeous and I can't decide which I would rather have.

Please leave me a comment on which one you like the best to help me decide.

Weekend Wrap Up

It started on Friday morning when I got up and starting making little gift bags for the door prizes for my Thirty-One Flip Flops and Friendship gathering.

Then I packed up everything, including the flower arrangements for the tables. Of course I packed everything in my Thirty-One bags.

I took off work early to get ready for everything. Since it was a flip flop theme, I decided to try something I saw on Pinterest. So I bought some Nutter Butter cookies.

I spread them on a cookie sheet.

And using gel piping I started pulling lines from the middle up and the middle down to the other side.

The finished product was supposed to look like a flip flop.

So I added a candy pearl to the top.

Ended up with a lot of edible flip flops that turned out just fine.

The girls got me a sweet gift for putting the dinner together.

I have been looking for one of these soap dispensers so needless to say I was thrilled.

My friend, Kellie, has a cri-cut machine that cuts final so she has been decorating glasses. I got one from her as a gift that night.

Everybody knows me as the Queen of Flip Flops.

I had a yard sale Saturday and had 3 tables with vintage items on them. After the 3rd customer, this was all that was left. Pyrex and vintage are two magic words for yard sales.

After the yard sale, a very good friend and her daughter stopped by with one of those gifts that take you by surprise.

They had been somewhere and saw this and thought of me. They just knew I would love it. Thank you Beth and Maddi for my lovely gift.

I had some of my earth tone Pyrex in my yard sale. But I came home from work on Thursday and had new linoleum in the kitchen. Now my pastel tablecloth and pastel decor just doesn't cut it. So I went back into my yard sale stuff and swapped the pastels for the earth tones and the rich blues and reds. I will go through my tablecloths to see which one goes best with the new look.

A couple of ladies came by my yard sale Saturday with some trades we were doing. I am thrilled to be the proud owner of the Woodland mixing bowls. Now just to find the 404 size.

Not sure who makes this pattern, but I had planned this trade a while back and am glad to get it. I love this pattern.

Sunday was Mother's Day at church and then hubby took me out for the day. After we got home, I just vegged out and had a light supper and spent the rest of the evening on the couch. It was a great weekend.

Am I a day late or a day early?

I finally got a chance to sit down and do my blog for today...or should I just wait and post it tomorrow. Do I want to be late on today's or early for tomorrow's?

These are the questions I ponder at 11:30 on a Wednesday night. Since I don't think much new will happen between now and tomorrow morning while I sleep, I am going to do this tonight and schedule it to automatically post on Thursday.

This has been a crazy week. I have been gathering stuff for my yard sale and working on planning my Flip-Flop and Friendship gathering. It's been super busy considering I am having to do this after I get home from work and still take time to have supper. I hope I don't go insane before the week is out.

Our Flip-Flop gathering on Friday night will be lots of fun. One thing we are doing is having a flip-flop parade. Can't wait to see what everybody is styling on their feet. The winner gets this flip-flop dishtowel my friend Stevie Marie made. I really like it so it is going to be hard for me to part with it.

Well, by the time this posts on Thursday, my day will be underway. Hope you all had a good Wednesday and that you are enjoying a happy Thursday.

The Voice

There are very few shows that I watch on TV. And not many of those do I watch on a regular basis. But I have never missed an episode of The Voice in the 8 seasons it has been on. Many time my favorite win; many times they don't.  This season I have several that I really like that would make me happy if any of them win. But the one I really, really would like to see win is this young farm boy who is just 16 years old. Last night was probably one of the best performances I have seen of his.  It's getting down to the wire so I was especially happy to hear his name called as one that was moving on.  His style is a little different than what I normally like, but he just has something special.

A young girl at our church has a beautiful voice and has been singing at church since she was about 8 or 9. This is a video of her singing the National Anthem at a local minor league team game 2 years ago. She is graduating high school this year and travels to various singing competitions and has won many, many awards. She just cut her first single at a recording studio. It is called Dishes and is available on iTunes. I am really impressed with how good she has gotten.

I would love to see both of the above young people go far in their careers.
