Sharing a prayer request...

We are blessed at our church with an awesome youth pastor and his precious wife. God is leading them down the path to adoption. They have started the process and have asked for everyone to remember them in your prayers. This will be their first child and we are all so excited for them to finally have the opportunity to become parents.

We know that God has that special little one already picked out for them and the process could be short or it could be long. It is all in God's hands. But they are requesting prayer for the process to go smoothly and that they will soon get the call for their little bundle of joy.

They are so well loved by the church and everyone here is so excited for them to become parents. They are going to be wonderful at it. Thank you for your prayers in helping the process along.

Doctoring up a Snack Mix.

I love snack foods with a variety of flavors, but I have never been a fan of Chex Mix. So I like to create my own snack mix. I start out with a bag of Munchies. Then I see what I had in the house. I found these goodies. So I got started on my mix.

I got a big bowl and dumped in the bag of Munchies.

Next, I added a couple of handfuls of Gold Fish crackers.

Next, I added in 2 bags of honey roasted peanuts. And (no picture) a bag of regular peanuts.

Next, I scooped out a couple of handfuls of Cheez-It's and tossed them in.

And so it would be overwhelmed with cheese, I scooped in a couple of handfuls of BBQ Fritos.

I put it all in a plastic container with a lid and shook it up really get to get it all tossed around. I left it for several hours for the flavors to "marinate" together.

The result is a mix that can beat no other. I love this stuff.

Great for movie night on these long, winter nights when the sun goes down so early.

My bedroom re-do

I started on my bedroom this weekend. This was what it originally looked like.

I toyed with the idea of putting a bedspread that had beach stuff on it, but then if I get tired of the beach theme (yeah, right) I would have to get a new spread. Plus most of the ones I found were comforters not quilts and I don't like that. But I was wanting lighter airy colors so I went with the blues of the sky and ocean and the yellow for the sunshine.

I got Allen this quilt to give him for Christmas. But when he got sick and went to the hospital I had a feeling he wouldn't be coming home and he always froze so much so I just gave it to him at the hospital as an early gift.

My friend Janis gave me a warm blanket for Christmas and I put it on the foot of the bed. The blue is perfect with the light blue in the quilt. I throw it on at night for extra warmth. I love it.

Allen owns two really nice kites that he always took to fly at the beach. We have a lot of fond memories with those kites. Once when their was a military base at the beach, we stayed on the end close to the airport on base. A jet was taking off when he was flying his kite and the kite was so high that the jet buzzed it a couple of times. So we bought this sweater one year for my bear, Ted E. I figured this would be the perfect place for him.

I blue up one of my favorite pics of us and put it on his dresser.

I still have more to do and a few other things to pick up, but it is a nice start.

A re-do...

As I am redoing my bedroom, I am organizing other parts of my home as well. I found these neat ideas on other blogs. I may use some of them; I may not. But thought they were worth sharing. The first one is Dollar Tree candle holders glued to Dollar Tree plates to make a catch all stand.

My earrings are a mess. My whole jewelry box is. I love the idea of sorting my little jewelry into ice trays. I have about 3 spare ice trays so no purchase needed.

Love this beach style basket. It comes from Dollar Tree. I may pick one up today for my beach bathroom to hold spare toilet paper rolls. Or to put in my bedroom to hold something.

If I don't like the ice tray idea for my earrings, I may get one of these jewelry organizers. I could decorate the top of the box with scrapbook paper, making it a little more festive.

I am forever having to dig for my hair dryer. Love this idea, only I would hook it to the side of my cabinet. My bathroom is situated in such a way that it would make it out of sight if I did that.

Well heading out to pic up a couple of things and then back home to finish the bedroom redo. I am feeling back to normal and I'm a lot more comfortable now that I got all my bushy hair cut off. I have really thick natural curly hair so when it get damp or humid my hair explodes unless it is short. I saw this on Facebook and thought it was too cute not to share for all of you that have the same hair issues I have.

Have a happy Saturday!

Happy New Year

A new day. A new year. A new beginning. My life has faced many changes this past year, but I have kept the faith and did everything in my power to be strong through it all. I have always had an independent streak...some that know me would call it bull-headed or stubborn, but I prefer independent. I always had someone to lean on so I didn't realize how strong I was until I had to be. So as we move into 2016, I sit here at my window and reflect on my past, my present and my future and think about my word for this year. I have decided on it. It is perfect for me.
