Not just for children any more....

Ever since I was a little girl, I loved to color.

And if we got to buy the box of 64 that had it's own crayon sharpener, we were in heaven.

I was thrilled when the new rage of adult coloring books hit the stands. But alas, crayons to not work well. You need colored pencils which I don't like coloring with.

So someone told me the other day, they now have additional activities books for adults. Ones like Fashion Design and Dot to Dot.

So I am thinking about that last night and trying to decide to I want to look for a dot to dot? Would I be happy or challenged or feel a sense of accomplishment if I just connected dots? Then it hit me. If the point of these children's joys being okay to do as an adult, why can't I make pot holders again with the weaving loom like I used. Two of my favorite potholders I use all the time were two my grandson made me when he was a little boy and I had bought one and he loved doing it.

So I'm stopping at Hobby Lobby today and getting me a loom. With my 40% off, I can get one for just about $4 including tax.

Which also means I need to buy a pack of crochet hooks to loop them off the loom when I'm done. FYI this thrills me because I have longed to learn to crochet just so I could buy some pretty aluminum hooks. Now I can.

But if I'm going back to my childhood for relaxation, my kitchen floor is perfect for playing Jacks. So I many just look into getting a set of those as well.

Wow, I'm so excited for some new things to do. This is going to be more fun than a Barrel of Monkeys.

These are a few of my favorite things...

I wanted to share some of my favorite things with you today. I am loving my new nail polish color. I love doing my nails with an accent nail. I took a walk on the wild side and did TWO accent nails.

My vintage milk glass flower baskets and a Home Interior pitcher and bowl that belonged to my mother-in-law.

My Royal Dalton tea set. This was the set that got me started collecting tea pots, tea for one's, tea cups and mini tea sets. Allen got me this in 1989 for Valentine's Day. I was so shocked, but love it dearly. I had always wanted the Old Country Roses tea set.

After I got that, I found this one and bought it for myself and I've been collecting ever since.

In the early 1980's he bought me a set of Pyrex Cinderella bowls. Over the years, as we downsized I sold it. Then when I started collecting vintage Pyrex. I traded a piece to get two pieces from the set like the set I had sold. A few weeks later was Christmas and I got two more pieces. I now have the whole set again and will never part with it.

I just love this shelf on my wine rack. My Grandma's cookbook I got for Christmas one year from my son and his family is one of my favorite cook books in my collection.

I am a collector so I use my three book shelves in the spare bedroom to show off my tea for one's, mini teas, Emmett Kelly's, Lefton tea set, little women and to store my books and a ton of other stuff.

This is my favorite table centerpiece I have ever had. I change it out each season and on the holidays. It's funny, but my sister came to town this week and when she stopped to see my new place, we were surprised to find out we both bought the same tray at Hobby Lobby for out table centerpiece. We are so much alike.

But the most favorite thing in my house is a copy of the very first selfie me and Allen ever took together. It turned out to be our last one. Little did we know that one year after this was taken he would be diagnosed with a terminal illness and would be gone two month's later. This is my most prized posession.

Fall Fashions

I am not a fashionista, but I like what I like. Here are some things I saw that I like for fall. I fell in love with this top. This shade of green is one of my favorite fall colors. I love flowing top...covers up a lot of flaws.

I adore this shade of nail polish. I need to go to Ulta and see if they have anything that compares to this. I am totally in love with it for fall.

I am not normally a vest person, but since coat sleeves aggravate me, I may try a vest this year. I really like the looks of this one.

I love this, but it is also perfect for Ms. Debbie at Breathing in Grace.

This is a cute look, but scarves bother me and I couldn't get into skinny jeans if my life depended on it.

However, I can get into skinny bracelets. My wrist is still the same size as high school. I love these.

I had to share this one, even though I don't care for it. It is called the batwing sleeve shaw. Is it just me or does this just like a glorified, stylish straight jacket?

Have a happy day.

Strange food combos

This is hysterical to me. I saw on the internet a new thing where earlier this year, it was announced as all the rage to put butter in your coffee. It's called bulletproof coffee. I'll let you Google it and read all the wonderful benefits of this "new" thing of putting butter in your coffee.

I hate to tell them, but I have very fond memories of when I was little (over 50 years ago), Daddy had this one late night snack he liked to have. We would gather around him when he fixed it and beg for a bite and he never disappointed us. We would all share his concoction. He would fix coffee and add Carnation cream and a couple of pats of butter. Then he would tear up pieces of white bread and put it in his cup as well. You ate the bread with a spoon enjoying the wonderful flavor it got when it sopped up the coffee...with butter. How funny that 50 years later this is now a "NEW" thing.

Daddy also liked to put cornbread in his buttermilk late at night for a snack. One of my brothers and my sister loved it, but OOO YUCK that was not something I ever tried.

But there was one thing we absolutely loved to do for Mom's leftover homemade biscuits. It involved Karo Dark Corn Syrup and butter.

You would mix them together and make a sauce and dip your biscuit in it. It was so delicious. I still do that all the time. I had KFC for supper last night and my dessert was Karo & butter and my biscuit to dip in it. I always mix mine till it is almost like caramel. This was my snack last night and looking at it this morning, I'm wishing I had more biscuits.

Have any of you ever had any of these weird combinations?

Weekend Wrap Up

The only problem with weekends is they go by too fast. The good news is that my work week starts Sunday through Saturday. I was off Saturday from last week and they gave me Sunday and Monday as days off this week. So I ended up with a three day weekend.

When I got home from work Friday evening, I saw a box on my porch. It was my FREE fall catalogs for going to conference. I am so excited to get these send out. This is my favorite catalog ever. I usually don't buy any Thirty-One, I just hold my own parties and earn everything I want for free as a hostess credit. So every year, I make out my wish list from the new catalog and set a goal how much I have to sell to earn all the stuff I want. Every year, there is about $200 - $300 I want really, really bad so I hold parties and through out the year, I normally get everything I wanted. That's how I can tell this is my favorite catalog ever, because I did my wish list the other night and found $750 worth of items I would just love to have. So I either need to cut down the wish list or do more parties this year. I vote for more parties because that would make me more commission. Which is a good plan. If I do $3600 in the next 6 months, I could get everything I want for FREE and end up with $900 commission on top of that. It's a win win.

I saw this sign on Facebook the other day and decided I need to find it somewhere because this is definitely for me!

Saturday, my daughter and I made a quick run to Walmart to pick up birthday gifts for Shelby.

Saturday evening, I just spend a relaxing evening around the house and worked on sorting beads, pipe cleaners and key rings so the kids could make key chains during Children's Church. Sunday, I went to Sunday School and church.  Here is my Children's Church class displaying their key chains.

Spent some time relaxing around the house after church. Sunday evening we went to Shoney's for Shelby's birthday party with the whole family there from both sides of her family. I was so thrilled when I saw they had the breakfast bar out. It was delicious.

Afterwards, I had my daughter get my pic with my grandsons. Garret on my left, Caleb on my right and Colby in front of me. When did my boys get bigger than me? And I swear the two oldest ones, which are also my oldest grandchildren, practice NOT smiling for cameras. Because they turn their smiles off the minute you pull out a camera. :). Colby smiles all the time so he's always ready for a Kodak moment.

Then we took one of me and my granddaughters. Alexis on the left and Shelby on the right. I never have to worry about the girls. They don't mind getting their picture made.

My daughter kept saying "Just one more" of me and the girls. I couldn't figure out why until I saw she was waiting for our 5 year old photo bomber to make his move. Colby is a character.

I had such a wonderful time. Made even better by the fact that I am off work today. Going to catch up my laundry and work on my Thirty-One fall season promotions. Then I have family from out of town coming to visit later today. It's going to be another great day.
