Happy birthday, Colby!

Six years ago today, God blessed us with our 5th grandchild, Colby James.

He was such a tiny little thing. He has filled our hearts with so much love.

He always has a ready smile.

As a matter of fact, I am not sure he ever stops smiling. He is such a happy little boy.

He's the king of comic faces. I love saying smile when I point a camera at him because you never know what you are going to get.

He loves to laugh and make others laugh. I was loading my car one day with some bags to go shopping when he was with me. I sat these behind the car and walked around to unlock it. When I came back behind the car, he decided to pack himself in one of the bags. I just never know what I will find with this child.

Sports is the love of his life. He knows the names and colors of more teams than I have known in my life. He can explain just about any game to you. I love have sports conversations with him. He is in his second year of ball and it is apparent already that he is very talented at it.

He is one of the greatest blessings of my life. You can tell that he is a character just by looking at that precious smile.

Happy birthday Colby. Mamaw loves you very, very much.

Last day of September....

Today is the last day of September. Which means that this weekend, I will start placing Halloween stuff out among my fall decor. I love anything with black cats and I picked up this towel at Kohls yesterday for $3.99.

Then I went to Hobby Lobby and found these two things on sale for 40% off each. So I got them both for a total of $2.68.

Then I saw on Facebook that tonight will be a Black Moon.

What an awesome way to kick off October.

Me when I go out to eat....

This is 100% me every nice restaurant I go to. Yes, I look at every item on the menu. Yes, I will talk about the items that look good that I am trying to decide between. But no matter what I decide, the minute the waiter comes up these words come out of my mouth "I'll have the chicken and a baked potato (or potato skins or onions rings, depending on where we are.) So I just had to share this when I saw it on Facebook.

I love this

One of my faithful followers, Ms. Nonnie, sent me the cutest graphic the other day. This is so me!

Now that I found the desk, the Corelle dishes and Corelle tea pot I wanted, it is time to get back into Pyrex world. Haven't found anything off my Pyrex wish list in a long time. Some pieces in these patterns would be my next items I will be searching for.

I need to have my sister look for some bargains in her neck of the woods.

Why I love my job.....

Yesterday was an amazing day. It is the National Quartet Convention in Pigeon Forge, TN and the Dixie Stampede offered a special show for the convention attendees. Since Southern gospel is a favorite of many, especially Baptist Churches, we had several Baptist church groups who attended. Each group starts out with a group photo. We had one church that was waiting on their pastor to park the bus and we talked them into performing I'll Fly Away and we joined in with them. It was really cool.

But the best part was the standard Dixie Stampede show started 30 minutes earlier than usual so the Tribute Quartet could perform (this video is not from yesterday, just one I like by them). Since I am a greeter on some days, I got to actually attend their performance. It was amazing.

As a greeter, I always get to see the first 20 or 30 minutes of the show. Which means I usually get to see my favorite act....the buffalo. Then I go back into the arena later in the show and pass out survey cards. It is an amazing job and I love the days I'm on schedule as a greeter. This is by far the most fun job I have ever had. After 41 years of office work, this is a very welcome change. I love being around the people and getting to meet them and assist them. If you have never seen the Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge, you should check it out if you are ever in the area. Here are some highlights.

Guess you can see now why I love my job. Getting to see parts of the show every day and sometimes 2-3 times a day never gets old. It's amazing.

Top 10 Tuesday

My top 10 things I have found lately on Pinterst that I liked. The first was this adorable addition to the lamp with the legs. Talk a bout an easy project.

I love this simple flower arrangement. I need to get me some tiny pine cones somewhere.

I need an old ladder. This is just way too cute for words.

Super simple, super cute. I am going to do this one.

This definitely says fall.

I am not sure if these type of dolls are called primitive or something else, but I definitely love this. My cousin Patty makes stuff like this a lot. I need to show her this.

Now there is a clever idea for laundry pods. I may have to do this.

Another adorable yet easy craft project for my future.

I love, love, love this sweater look.

I like the way they wrapped this gift even if I didn't like what some of the tags say.

Week-end wrap up

I had an amazing weekend. Started out Friday morning heading out to a neighborhood yard sale. First place I went, I found two of the Rudolph characters stuffed. I adore Rudolph and was so happy with them both.

I have been looking for a "skinny" table for my wall in the dining room since May. Finally just gave up. Walked up to the next yard sale and this was the first thing in the driveway. I asked the price and she said "It's 1/2 off day on everything so you can have it for $10.00." she didn't have to tell me twice. I was so happy to get it.

Then as I was paying, I spotted this for just $1.00. My initial I use a lot and on it was my all time favorite bible verse for the past 15 years or so. You know I had to have it. I like it with my decor for fall.

The next stop had this basket for .50 cents. I am always a sucker for unique baskets. I liked the shape of this one.

But my heart nearly stopped when I saw my favorite Corelle pattern in a lot of pieces. When I left the house Friday, all I thought was "If I could find my Corelle platter in Indian Summer, I would pay up to $5 to get it." My lips to God's ears. Except instead of $5 for the platter. I got every single piece seem below for the $5.00. I thought the price must be wrong so I even asked the lady if she knew how collectible these were. She said she did and she just wanted rid of it. Score! Big time! For five bucks, I wasn't walking away without it.

While she was packing, this little Corelle teapot I've been wanting was on the next table for $2.00. It was in excellent shape and the inside has never been used, you could tell. It is spotless. I just love it.

The last thing that caught my eye was the nesting hen for .50 cents so she came home with me as well.

Friday night the kids came over for dinner. I made homemade spaghetti sauce and everybody said it turned out great. I happen to agree with them. I have only made it one time in a small portion so this was a challenge since Allen always did the cooking. We ate on the new plates. Afterwards, we all vegged out in the living room.

One of the kids put on Zootopia and we all got hooked on it.

Having all my family under one roof just touches my heart deep inside. But it sure was lonely when they all went back home.

Saturday morning, my daughter and I had planned a shopping trip. I wanted a brown purse. But first I asked her if she had any brown purses I could just borrow instead of buying a new one. She had a few and I fell in love with this one. My family passes purses around a lot. Mom gave us this one when we went to West Virginia this past spring. I had forgotten Diana had it. So I claimed it and told her she may not get it back. The leather is the softest leather I have ever seen on a purse. I am loving it.

Our first stop was Charming Charlies. I had seen this card holder on line on clearance for $3.99 and couldn't believe our store actually had it. I love the red and black.

I have been looking for a small change purse type thing just for my change for the snack and drink machines at work. This was the perfect size and also on clearance for $3.99.

I can't seem to find the perfect bag to carry the things I need for work every day. My Thirty-One bags I have just don't work out right for a variety of reasons, so I decided to see what I could find in a light weight tote bag. I found this at Hobby Lobby. It was on sale 1/2 off so I got it for $4.50.

And since our call center we share desks, I carry my pens and pencils back and forth in the my purse but couldn't find a pouch that I liked. The same 50% off section had this for just $1.98.

Their Christmas crafts were on sale for 40% off so I picked up a pack of snowmen you could make with pre-cut pieces. It was less than $2 for the pack. I made them Saturday night and I am in love with them. They had snowmen and gingerbread men. I wanted them for my little tree for the dining room. I think I will go back and get the other two styles.

I wanted something that I can put on my new little table that I could change out every season or holiday. I found this bird case on clearance. I think I ended up paying about five bucks for it. It is just too cute. I put my fall stuff in it for now. May set a witch or ghost in it for Halloween. I'm sure you will see every time I change it.

I moved my McCoy pitcher on the table for now. I don't know exactly how I am going to decorate the table but I'm still trying to decide if I want to put a lamp on one end. instead of the flowers.

While we were out Saturday, I found my two favorite movies on DVD at Target on the $4.00 section. Now I am sit for October. I usually watch them on TV but might miss them the way I work. So I just went ahead and bought them. Knowing me, I will probably watch them 2 or 3 times before Halloween.

You gotta admit I got some really good bargains. Time to start saving up for my next shopping spree. Sunday was amazing. Our homecoming had a great turnout. One of our historians, Debbie Cline, told the history of the church for the past 133 years and talked about some of the older folks who have gone on before. It was so good. She is an excellent speaker. I got to visit with people I haven't visited with in awhile. And Ms. Bonnie Keck made her famous chocolate peanut butter cake so I ate too much as usual. It was an awesome day.

After church Sunday, I decided to just lay on the couch and rest all day. Four and 1/2 hours later, I woke up. I must have been exhausted. I felt so refreshed but the down side was I didn't get sleepy until later and then had a hard time going to sleep. But all in all it was a fabulous weekend. Now time to head back to work to see what this week brings.
