Teen sensation

The older generation had Hank Williams. The next heartthrob to hit the air waves was Elvis Presley. But in my day, Donny and the Osmond Brothers was what turned our heads. They were my teen idol. I would buy Sixteen magazine just to read all about them. I would cut out every picture and put it on my bulletin board. They were my teen idols. They sounded fantastic then......

And they still sound fantastic now.....

I guess it is true that if you got it, you got it. 

I was gifted....

Well, I sure got my share of gifts yesterday for somebody who barely left the house. First off, I finished the design work on the website of a friend who owns a produce store. I had to run over to show it to him and make any adjustments. He loved it as was. But it just took me a few minutes to get it fixed after we talked about the easiest way to do it. I would take any money so he made sure I left with some produce. 

Then I got home and my maintenance man in my subdivision had left some light bulbs by my door for me to try. He was telling me about them and how much he has saved on his electric bill since he switched to these. So my landlady told him to bring me some from their stock so I could try them out. He said just changing these out in all his life cut his electric bill back and average of $40 per month. I know one thing, my rooms are all a lot brighter.

My daughter was given a couple of pictures yesterday that had been left behind at work and nobody wanted them. She gave them to me for my beach room. The picture doesn't do them justice. It is hard to take a picture of a picture with light glaring off of it.

It's been a pretty good day yesterday. Plus I took a 2 hour nap so that helped me a lot and I now feel like I am on the mend.

Time to regroup...

I have done it again. I let myself get run down. These past two weeks we have been shorthanded at work so I have worked over, done jobs I wasn't scheduled for that day, and just basically helped out where I could. 

In addition to 40+ hours at work, I have studied a new Children's Church work book and created my lesson plans for the weeks I have it for the next month. 

I have also been doing research on crafts for VBS and decorations for VBS for our craft room. I did those ordered this week and it was a major undertaking to decide what I wanted to do. I had to get orders place now so the items I want don't get sold out or back ordered before VBS. 

We are also doing a church directory and since I am the Co-ordinator I have been staying after church to sign people up and putting them in the computer system so the appointments don't get double booked. 

Working on redoing a website for a friend. 

Add to that my recent obsession with redoing my craft room and since I am going through boxes and seeing what I have and don't have, I just went ahead and started pulling out and pricing items for my spring yard sale. 

Then one day at work we greeted groups in the damp cold rain and I woke up with a sore throat. And now I have a full blown head cold. I know it is because I have let myself get ran down. So I've been used my tried and true remedies to help me get back to normal...whatever normal is.

But y'all know me. One day of rest and I'll be right back at it till I have another crash. But the good news is the Children's Church lesson is ready, the VBS stuff is ordered and the Directory entries are caught up to date. I also finished the website this morning. 

Now for some much needed R & R on the rest of my day off. Have a great day.

A Wish List

Have you ever made a purchase on Wish.com? I had heard about it for years but was leery to try it. The prices were so low and shipping time is long. It's basically a you get it when you get it thing. Everything comes direct from China and I am convinced it is a slow boat ride. Although when, it arrives everything has been worth the wait. 

So far in the past year, I purchased this wristlet which was so soft and just the perfect it size. I paid $3.00 plus $1.00 for shipping.

I snagged this Santa pin for FREE with $1.00 shipping and I was so happy with it. I got a bazillion complements last Christmas when I wore it to work everyday. Even strangers would stop me and ask me where I got it.

Then I forgot about Wish for awhile until a friend started buying some things and showing me the great deals he and his girlfriend kept getting. So I ordered this little watch as a gift for a friend who loves Mickey Mouse. It was $3.00 total with shipping.

My daughter ordered this bracelet for free with $2.00 for the shipping. Both items have arrived and are even nicer than the pictures. We were both extremely happy.

Now I am waiting on the arrival of my card holder for all the various reward card I have. This was $2.00 total with shipping.  I am looking forward to getting it. 

A lady I work with wears different rings all the time and I fall in love with them. I asked her one day where she found such beautiful rings. Turns out she gets them all on Wish. So there is one I have been wanted that is $50+ at Walmart. I found one almost identical on Wish. It was free and shipping was $1.00 so I figured what the heck. She has had several of hers for two or three years and they are still just as shiny as when she got them. Her's were sterling silver and so is this one and since her hasn't tarnished, I decided to take a chance. It is due to arrive the first part of may so we will see how it goes.  

Now I have some items on a wish list on Wish. I am contemplating them. One of my other friends orders clothes on their all the time and they are great quality and they fit when she orders her size. So I may try this beach dress. It is $10 so I'm not going to rush into it. If you watch, the prices come down based on how many people are ordering it. Plus sometimes they will post the same item from a different shipping area and the price is better. So I'm going to hold off on this.  

However, I think I will order this today. It is Free with $4.00 for shipping. Which is not bad. I am willing to invest $4 to see how the clothing fits. They do have a 30 day return policy if something isn't what I want so I'm not too worried.

When I go to the beach, I love ankle bracelets with my flip flops everywhere I go. So I want a beachy looking one. I fell in love with this. I am adding it to my order. It was $2 plus $1 for shipping. But several people are buying it so they dropped the price to $1.80 and $1 shipping.

And I am ordering this as well today. It is FREE and $2 for shipping.

I will keep you posted on how these things turn out. So far most of my stuff is arriving 3 - 6 weeks after I order it. Which isn't bad to save so much money on something I like. I'll wait it out on the shipping.

All because two people fell in love.....

It is National Sibling Day. I could go on for days about the wonderful childhood we all had together, about the unlimited love we got from Mommy and Daddy. I could wax eloquently about all the many blessed memories of our lives together. I could also go on and on and on about how we are still close even though we are all in our 50's or 60's. But I think if you look closely at the pictures you can see for yourself the love we all have for each. 

Thank you Mommy and Daddy for the amazing lives you created.

So it begins....

Baby steps. That is how I am attacking my craft room. Little itty, bitty steps at a time. My problem with trying to redo it with the vintage look was lack of things to fit the theme and wanting to accumulate everything I needed and do it all at once. I am trying to work on being patient. So for the new beach theme, I am just going to change things one at a time. So I started out yesterday by purchasing two light blue bins to replace the gray ones I had in this little shelf. 

And I had this jar, a sea shell and some jute that I put together my own version of the pencil holder from Pinterest. They used a star fish and I may eventually replace this one with a star fish but I had a sand dollar that I actually found in Panama City on mine and Allen's last trip so I think it  has more meaning. I had a few blue colored pencils to put in it, but want to add a few more. But this wasn't a bad start since it didn't cost me a penny. Everything was on hand.

I had a red valance that I took down and hung up this pale blue sheer until I can go to a store in Myrtle Beach this year that has some adorable beach curtains that I really want. But this will do till then. It is a warehouse store and no online purchasing so I will be patient.

The top of one of my stands has been temporarily decorated with some of the beach stuff I had around the house. 

It's not much but it is a start.
