Wacky Weather

Just an FYI, I think I can finally put away my jeans and tennis shoes and get out my flip flops and capris. Our spring just now feels like it is finally arriving. Beautiful days. Only problem is we have to suffer through some cool mornings. It is 56 degrees at 7:00 but supposed to get up to 80 today. I'll take it. Here some weather humor to make you smile.

Random Wednesday

I have a busy, busy day ahead. A vacation bible school meeting at church, 8 hours of work, working on gathering stuff for my yard sale. Like I said busy, busy day.

I do want to take the time to wish my niece, Amy, a very happy birthday. Have an amazing day Amy.

Does anybody remember a clothing style from the 50's and 60's called pedal pushers. I loved wearing those. Today I was googling for white capri leggings when Blair popped up with white pedal pushers. OH MY GOODNESS! I need these for the summer.

They also have some blue ones similar to denim in color but they are the soft cotton knit.

I went to Blair's site and also found Bermuda shorts in the same soft fabric.

They had white and denim. Guess there is a shopping day for me to go to the Blair site and order a few things.

I am going to be having a end-of-school-year/Memorial Day party for the children in Children's church on the last Sunday of may. I am also getting ready to do some decorating with patriotic decor at my house. That will cover Memorial Day in May, Flag Day in June and 4th of July in July. So I'm starting to look at Pinterest for ideas for the decor and for Children's church party.

I think I will collect some small jars and let the kids do flower arrangements for our party.

I want this for my front door.

Oh my this is pretty. I think I have a white tray like that.

This would be cute for the kids to make to hang in our children's church room through the patriotic holidays.

Absoluletly in love with this and the simplicity of it. Could change the star for each holiday.

Got to read how to make these, but the kids would love this for their end of year/Memorial Day party. We could do several different fun activities with these.

Since we are having snacks for the event, I am definitely going to make brownies with the red, white and blue M & M's.

What a simple cheap idea for decor for the tablecloth.

Well, I think I need to start getting busy on my planning. I can't believe May is already here. Have a blessed Wednesday.

Happy anniversary, Chris & Jamie

I want to wish a happy anniversary to my son, Chris, and his wife, Jamie. I love you both.

Lots of wonderful memories over the years with these two.

Not to mention the beautiful grandchildren this marriage has brought to the family.

Happy 20th and may God bless you with many, many more.

Pie Bird Vents

Well, I did go back and get the blue and white pie bird this weekend. I am just so much in love with it.

While I was there, I went ahead and picked up a red one as well.

Pie vents have been used to let steam escape from pies since the Victorian era. But the bird figurines weren't popular until the 1940's and were believed to be created from the nursery rhyme, Sing a song of sixpence. I have only seen them in solid colors before, but my research shows me there are a lot more than just solid colors that were made. I love the black and white polka dotted one.

But oh look at this one! The weird thing is, I don't eat pie so I don't bake it. But if I could find one of these, I would bake an apple pie for 4th of July and take it to work.

I really like this one and may try to find it as well. It looks like the blue birds that I see around my house.

I do want to find the yellow/orange one to sit with my Town and Country Pyrex pattern.

I also want to look for a black one just because. No other reason than just because.

These two are on E-bay for $15 for the set plus shipping. It says they are vintage, but I just don't want to pay that much for them.

I will have to keep checking my local stores to see what other styles I can find.

Feel good Sunday

Life is what you make it. Take it by the hand and enjoy every moment. Sometimes there are little blessings that can just make you happy. Today my joy is coming from the fact that I get a Sunday off. That means I don't have to hurry out of church the minute it is over. That means I can enjoy the bright sunshine and get outside awhile. That means I can fix me a good southern Sunday supper (don't know what yet, but it will be good). That means I can relax and enjoy the day. So, I am definitely feeling some good music to go with my good mood today.

The past two days..

We have been doing photo settings for the last two days for our new church directory. It's been a tiring, busy two days. But I did get to hold some of the little ones as they came in for their appointments.

I did manage to run out yesterday morning and relax in a couple of antique stores. I love spending time just browsing the aisles. I started out in my favorite one, Tudor House, in Sevierville, TN where I found an adorable little plate in yellow that was depression glass. It is hard to get pictures of the yellow color, but maybe you can see it good enough.

In my favorite booth there, I found a Pyrex bowl in the pattern I have been looking for. Now to find others in that pattern to add to my collection.

I left there and went to Heartland Antiques to see if they have any Pyrex coffee cups, not Corelle or Corningware, but the ones that actually say Pryex on the bottom. I have a mug tree I want nothing but Pyrex cups on. Lo and behold they had one. And it is the Ribbon Bouquet pattern that is a soft gray flower. I have seen this online but never in person so I was very happy to get it.

The last thing I found before I had to head back to the church for day two was my very first pie bird. I have been wanting to collect these for a long time but never have gotten one. This made my day. I was so happy. I was torn between the yellow or one that was white and blue. I settled on the yellow, but may go back this morning for the other one. Isn't he just the cutest thing?

Hope you are having a great weekend.

Friday Foto Friends

I love the beach. It draws me back year after year. The sheer vastness and beauty of the ocean relaxes me like nothing else can. I love this quote from Jacques Cousteau.

In September 2013, Allen and I were at the beach during the Harvest Moon. It was spectacular watching it. It appeared as if it was rising right out of the depth of the ocean. We sat on the balcony for a long time watching it.

The next morning, I woke up in time to watch the sun rising to greet the day.

If asked what my favorite thing about the beach is, I would have to answer watching the sun rise.

There is just something magical about watching it as it awakens for the day.

I felt like we were really blessed to watch the Harvest moon at night and wake up to a beautiful sunrise in the morning. I just love the beach.
