A tribute to our men and women who have fought and given their life for our country.

It's getting closer...
We are having a pot luck today at work. I'm making a spice cake and caramel icing. They were out of the Duncan Hines icing so I am using Pillsbury. I don't like it as well, but it works.
VBS is getting closer and closer. I stopped and got some scrapbook sheets to decorate with. The theme is Game On.
And I love using the little kid figures for decorating as well.
When the Scrapbook Super Store 1/2 Off Outlet found out I was buying for VBS with a sports theme, they donated these two huge rolls of stickers.
I'm going to have to share these with the other teachers since I will never use this many.
Our CD player started skipping at Children's Church and we got a brand new one. We will be using it for the music for the little kids at VBS as well.
Just a few last minute decor items to pick up and I'll be ready for VBS.

My Granddaughter's Graduation
My granddaughter Alexis graduated from 8th grade this week. Now it's time for high school. She is ready but this grandmother is not. They grow up too fast.
She sang a solo and even participated as one of the readers of a satire that was written predicting where everyone would be in the future. It was so cute. Here she is getting her diploma.
Their final procession as 8th grade graduates.
I am so proud of her and the beautiful young lady she is becoming. She is one of the sweetest children you will ever meet. Of course there was picture time and I never hesitate for an opportunity to get one with any of my grands.
Alexis and her Mamaw on her Mom's side. Her other grandmother is such a sweet lady. It's been so much joying sharing grandchildren with her.
Alexis with both the Mamaw's.
Alexis with her Mom and Dad.
Alexis with Mom, Dad, and little brother Colby. Their oldest son, Garret, had to work.
Her with her Aunt Lisa.
And one of the proudest moment of her life. Her with her award.
Check it out. She was a winner of the President's Education Awards Program and received a certificate for Outstanding Academic Excellence. We are all so proud of her.
And one last one of her with Colby. He was ready to go home.

Laundry ideas
Finally got me a little bit of porch furniture. I had a bench but got rid of it. I am ready for Memorial Day.
Next on my to do list is some refreshing of the laundry room. So me, being me, went to Pinterest to get some ideas to get organized. This might work for my spray bottles.
One of my TV trays that I have had for years died the other day. Two of the white plastic clips that hold it to the legs broke off and can't be fixed. I going to get some fabric and a padding and make me a little tiny ironing board for those quick press jobs for my craft fabric.
This is a cut idea..until I thought it through. My trash can is literally about 15" from my dryer. Seriously? Do I need a Lint Bin? The thought of piling all the lint in there and then transferring to the trash lady just seems a little "trashy" to me. I'll just keep throwing it away the minute I clean the trap. But this is still cute.
A cute idea. I am constantly finding ONE lone sock in every load of laundry. I never find the other but refuse to throw it away so I just stick it back in my sock drawer. Then I have to dig for it when the mate shows up. Oh! Lightbulb moment. Maybe instead of the lint bin above, I could do that for socks instead of this. But this is still a cute idea.
A great idea for hanging an ironing board.
This I love, love, love. I am forever fighting with my trash bags to get them out of the box without pulling out two or three and then having to stuff them back in. I am doing this.
I'll do some before and after when I get things done.

A special day...
Forty-three years ago today, this sweet little gal made me an Aunt. She was my little partner, my sidekick.
She was so precious. Always smiling and bringing joy to our lives with her various antics.
From the "no hair" days through the big hair days, we have always shared a special bond.
Here she is with my other nieces and my daughter. Getting them all together was always full of love and laughter. Great times. Great memories.
(L-R my nieces: Amy, Cindi, Tara, Christy, Lori, Emili and my daughter Diana)
She was the one that started calling me Aunt B because she was having trouble saying Brenda. My boss at work always called me Little B because she said I was always as busy as a bee. So when she got to meet Christy one time when Christy was learning to talk, she asked what Christy called me. I told her she couldn't say Brenda yet. So Carolyn said "You should call her B because that is easier to say." Christy immediately looked at me and said B and that was that. Now that is what everyone of the nieces and nephews call me.
(L-R: Mom and Christy)
She may be 43 today, but she still loves her Aunt B and calls me at least once or twice a month just to chat. Every call is full of laughter because she inherited my crazy gene.
(L-R: Christy and one of my other nieces, Cindi)
I love you Christy Dawn. I hope you have a totally amazing birthday. She sure don't look 43.

Weekend wrap up
Well, I went to the yard sale but didn't find what I went after but still happy to find a thermal I was wanting.
And she had one of these little change purses that I love.
There is a place for license & card, plus a few bills and some change. Perfect for just running out for fast food or to the store when I don't want my whole purse.
I found a cute table runner at the grocery store of all places. I was looking for something blue. So I redid the table.
And I added some stuff to the little corner stand my daughter gave me.
Hope you week is off to a good start.

A foggy start...
It is going to be a beautiful day in East Tennessee. High 80's. May even make it to the 90's. I just know that it is going to be really pretty. But it is starting off real foggy. The sun is rising though so it will burn off real soon.
Have a happy Sunday!
