Top 10 Tuesday

Thanks to Pinterest and their recommendations of things they think I will like, I now have some new holiday decor thought.

I don't have a real fireplace, but I have one of the artificial ones that holds a TV so I'm looking for a way to decorate around the top. It brought me up some ideas.

Gorgeous fall and thanksgiving centerpiece idea.

I love this. I have a Harvest angel to match the turkey. I am going to check around to see if I can find that turkey.

This is cute. I need to let my kids make this in Children's church.

I love this.

Oh how pretty.

I have a table almost like this. I need to figure out something for it similar to this.

Another cute mantel idea.

Oh I really, really love this one.

I am really enjoying all the ideas with buffalo plaid this year.

Some final things to share....

My trip was so wonderful to the beach this past week and I did share some photos Saturday. But I forgot to share this one. Our resort has a restaurant that does an amazing breakfast bar. Since we booked early in the year, we received a free breakfast coupon for every day we were there for each of us. We feasted every morning on a variety of things like eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, cereal, waffles, etc. The free part was awesome but the view was a great way to start our morning.

One day while we were there, Krispy Kreme released their lemon donuts. Oh my word! Never have I had a donut so delicious. Couldn't wait to get back home and have some more of them. Only to arrive home and find out our Krispy Kreme isn't going to carry them. So sad.

We loved the walks on the beach, sitting out on the beach and reading, sitting on the balcony. But we also loved the times we would take shopping trips to various stores we enjoy at Myrtle Beach. On one of our trips, I actually found the casserole dish in the new 60th Anniversary Corningware Cornflower Blue pattern. I was so excited. I can't wait to make something in it. Just trying to decide what to fix first in it.

We always go to a place called Homespun Crafter's Mall. I like to pick up coasters to use for special occasions and holidays. I got these for my sister. She loves anything for her camper and she decorates like crazy at Christmas, just like I do. She sells these so cheap and they make great little gifts as well.

That particular store is a "booth" store similar to an antique store. It has crafts, craft supplies, home decor and vintage items. in one booth I found the Butterfly Gold vintage Pyrex for $7 and I was beyond thrilled. Of course I snatched it up. Then when I was checking out, I saw the stripes bowl sitting on their back counter. I asked about it and some lady had changed her mind and when I found out it was just $8, I snatched it up as well. It is hard to find. Very hard to find in my area and I have wanted one for years. I was ready to do a happy dance.

Then we went to our favorite place, Tomlinsons. They are a huge store with just plain metal racks and concrete floors. They sell home decor, linen, clothes and shoes but all at amazingly low prices. We also went to Christmas Mouse, which we do every year. So between those three stores, I scored a few new items for Christmas at a great bargain. Some of the coasters are for me and some to tuck in with a few gifts for friends.

We went in a few different stores this year and this stuff came from a variety of place, but I am so excited to incorporated this into my other Halloween decor in October.

But my favorite of all were my fall items. I love fall. I found some beautiful woven square placemats for $1.49 each (what a deal) I fell in love with them but knew I wanted something for fall so I was torn. I decided to buy them anyway and look for something blue and orange to tie them into fall. So I found a scarecrow in denim bibs in blue and found a few other things to go with it to create a centerpiece for my table. Hopefully I can tie all this into together for a fall table. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Some people laugh at me for putting fall stuff out before Fall actually begins. But I decorate by the month. September will be fall, October I incorporate the Halloween into the fall decor. November I take out Halloween and put my Thanksgiving stuff in with the fall. Then after Black Friday weekend it all goes up and Christmas comes out. I love the last four months of the year better than any other time of the year. I can't wait to get started decorating this week.

Friday Foto Friends

My blog for the past 6 days was written in advance so I could enjoy a well deserved vacation at Myrtle Beach. I had such an amazing trip. Breathtaking sunrises, beautiful sunsets, walks on the beach, reading and watching the waves and even managed to get in a few shopping trips where I got some great bargains which I'll share another day. But today is for the show God put on for us every day at the beach. Here are some highlights in no particular order.

I loved the sea turtle sand art.

There is nothing as relaxing as waves washing up on your feet and ankles. Could have stood there during the tide coming in all evening.

Tried to get a good pic of it coming on my feet but feet look hideous when sand and waves wash up on them.

The sunrise was beautiful every day. We didn't have a drop of rain or overcast skies any day.

I must have snapped over 500 morning sky pics.

My favorites were the rays starting to break through the early morning. We got up around 6:00 a.m. every day. I don't do sleeping in, especially on vacation.

The glow on the ocean every morning was breathtaking.

And when it broke completely through and rose all the way up in the sky so you say it was morning, oh how beautiful it looking shining down on the ocean.

It was fun seeing the different ways it came up each morning. And we oooh'd and aaah'd every morning like it was something we had never seen before.

And some mornings before it got fully up, we were shown some awesome cloud shapes.

I had a visit from a pigeon for over 20 minutes who refused to let me outside. Every time I tried to go out, he got down on our balcony and tried to walk in. So I just stayed inside till he left.

And at night, we would set on the balcony and watch the moon come up. I didn't get nearly as many good pictures of that simply because it was really dark and I don't know how to work the camera to get better night shots. But you can still see the beauty of the moon shining through the clouds and casting a glow across the ocean.

It was a full moon while we were there so we got to see it and it moved from full to waning gibbous phase.

And one night there were some clouds that kept passing over it and making it really eerie. It was so neat.

Yes, I took a ton of pictures of the whole week. Even took a selfie of myself which I rarely ever do unless a grandchild makes me get in one with them. But I was actually happy with the way my hair did that day so I thought what the heck. It was rare enough that I took it and then I actually posted it here and made it my profile picture on Facebook. I just don't normally do that.

Yes, I loved the pics of morning and night. But most of all I loved those moments when I just sat in my chair, watching the ocean, listening to waves crash against the shore and reading a good book.

We just got home Thursday and I'm already ready to go back again.

Throw back Thursday....

Do you remember playing jacks when you were little? I loved that game so much. I have even purchased some in my adult years to play when the kids and grandkids have been little. I bet my first set must have looked like this because we bought stuff like that at McCroy's Five & Dime.

Jacks is one game I perfected and was really, really good at. I remember when they started making them in silver and gold.

They even made them in color for awhile.

I remember using a bouncy ball one time to play them because it would go higher. My and my sister were at our girlfriends house and we were playing jacks in their kitchen on a cold day. Her mom said to be careful and not break anything. Don't worry, we didn't break anything. Our ball just went so high that it bounced into Helen's pot of soup she had simmering on the stove. She was not very happy with us. Such wonderful memories. My granddaughter Shelby bought some a couple of year back and brought them over for us to play. And I am proud to say that I can still go all the way through my tensies without missing a turn. Now I want to go get some jacks.

Chip and dip Pyrex

Yesterday, I mentioned a chip and dip set I used to have. Last night I went online out of curiosity and looked up Pyrex chip and dip sets. Turns out they do have chip and dip sets in Pyrex, but basically, it is two of the same pattern in the Cinderella bowl set with a bracket to convert it to chip and dip. Since Cinderella bowls are in abundance, it would be easy to do this. So all I have to do is find a bracket and I'm good to go. Check out some of the bowls they have paired as chip and dip.

I think I would love to find these bowls with the bracket. They would go with any holiday decor.
