Bargains galore

Do you ever have one of those days where you go shopping and you can't believe the bargains you find? I was giddy with excitement yesterday at all the wonderful items I picked up at such great prices. Several weeks ago I went to an Estate Sale and the lady told us to watch the paper because she would be having another one in a few weeks. They hadn't gone through everything at the first one. Yesterday was the day. So, I went back. I am so glad I did. Here are my goodies for the day.

Our kitchen has a couple of pantry cabinets and I have been wanting some of these little shelves to put in the tall sections. They had three for .25 cents each. I snatched them all up. They are about $3.75 each at Walmart. I saved $10.50.

I have been looking for cute little ways to display my smaller Thirty One products when I do a show. This was just $1.00 and will hold several different items. 

These will also be used to display some of my Thirty One items. These were $1.00 each and are black wrought iron. Very heavy duty.

The lady at the estate sale said her Mother loved to sew and made this dresser scarf that I picked up for $1.00.

She also made these adorable bread cloths for bread baskets. I got these for .25 cents each. 

These vintage dishtowels were 2 for .25 cents. 

This little book was so cute that I had to get it for a dear friend who teaches Sunday School class at our church. The title definitely applies to her. Her students never want to leave her class. Just .25 cents.

A cute little milk glass dish for .25 cents. 

I fell in love with this vase. It was just .25 cents as well. 

I thought this was cute. I put it in the beach room and filled it with seashells. It was another .25 cent find. 

I haven't read anything by this author, but the book looked good. It was almost brand new and just $1.00.

I was really thrilled with these. Remember a few weeks ago I discovered dishes for butter pats? Well, they had two of them at just .75 cents each. 

This next item caused me to be beyond thrilled. I have been looking for a little table or night stand for the kids rooms so I could put some baskets in the shelf. Well, I picked up this night stand for just $5.00 and here it is with the baskets I already had. One holds the girls dishes and the other has the boys Matchbox cars. Now, I'm looking for a little trunk to hold the rest of the toys. 

But my bargain of the day made everything else pale in comparison. When our TV blew up, we moved the big TV from our bedroom into the living room. And we moved the kid's TV into our bedroom. Any time they come over, we need to move it back for them. We will eventually buy a new one for the living room, but in the meantime, I really wanted another TV. So I found this yesterday for the kids room. It fit perfect and the price was....are you ready for this....just TEN DOLLARS! That's right, $10.00. I was so excited. 

All these wonderful finds for less than $25.00! It doesn't get any better than that. I may check the paper to see if anything good is going on today. 

Arcopal Madness

I have always loved anything to do with France. It is my dream one day to visit Paris. I want to eat French pastries on a little sidewalk cafe. When I was about 5 years old, I remember that Evening in Paris perfume was very popular. I remember it came in a pretty blue bottle. And every time I saw that blue bottle I wished I could go to France.

I recently discovered some vintage dish products from a company called Acropal France. The dinnerware is white opal tempered glass that is break proof with a fire glazed finish. It is made by the company that makes Mikasa. Here are some of my favorite pieces in their line. Some of the items resemble a Pyrex style

These coffee cups look like they could be used for soup. I just love the floral pattern. 

I am also fond of their daisy and bird pattern that is on this bowl. Reminds me of something Pyrex would do. 

I would love to stumble upon an entire set of the dishware.

This pitcher is just adorable.

This is probably my favorite item that I would like to have in this pattern. 

On the other hand, this could possibly be my favorite set. The good news it the entire set is $30.00 USD. The bad news it they will not ship to the United States. Guess I'll have to look around here.

This is an absolutely gorgeous casserole dish.

These pastel cups are cute. 

This is absolutely the most precious little coffee pot I have ever seen.

I would love to have these little ramekins for snack items such as peanuts or M and M's. 

Now, just to see if I can find any of this around here. 

Loving my new tablecloth

On Memorial Day I went to the Grand Opening weekend for Old Time Pottery. I had purchased a new tablecloth and just now got around to putting it on. I have cream lace curtains on my dining room windows and have been looking for a lace crochet tablecloth that was affordable. I found one at Old Time Pottery for $5.99. I am loving it.

I've had this tablecloth for a couple of years and even though I change with the seasons, I was tired of it. 

So I put on the new one and changed out the centerpiece and I am very happy with the result. Excuse the wrinkles. I never iron my tablecloths until I try them on to make sure I am going to like them. Since I do love this, getting the wrinkles out will be on my list to do today. 

I just love the country look that this gives the table.

The wooden rooster matches the wood on the table and chairs. I picked it up at a yard sale quite a while back. It was only .25 cents. It is one of my favorite roosters.

Keeping with my French Country theme in my kitchen, I picked up a new runner for the front of the kitchen sink. I just had a small, plain burgundy rug there I didn't really like it. I love rugs in front of the sink. I looked at Kmart and Walmart and didn't like anything they had in the size I wanted. They also wanted $19.99 for the size to go in front of my sink. I ran to the local Family Dollar store and picked this up for $10.00. 

I am starting to love the feel of my kitchen. When I started thrift shopping for vintage Pyrex, I wasn't sure what hubby would think of me invading his kitchen with a lot of old bowls. He loves it. I've been collecting them since last October and have them on my bakers rack and on my wine rack. He had never really mentioned it before, but last week he made biscuits and gravy for supper and he said "Can I use your Pyrex bowls or are they for looks only?" How funny. I've had them all this time and never even knew he was wanting to use them. So I gave him the okay and he uses them all the time now. This is his favorite one. Thanks, Peggy, for giving it to me.

My Sandwich Glass wish list

I am in love with Sandwich Glass. Anytime I find a piece at a yard sale or thrift shop at a good price, I buy it. Here are some pieces I would love to find.

I had this bowl years ago when it wasn't a big deal to have something old. I could kick myself for getting rid of it.



I did keep my big bowl and I am glad I did. I use it on my counter to hold snacks.
