Wednesday's Wish List

It has been so cold and windy lately that I haven't spent any time going to the thrift stores or antique shops. So I thought I would do a little Etsy window shopping to see what might catch my fancy. The first thing I saw was this set of three Butterprint mixing bowls. I see the Cinderella bowls a lot around here, but I have never found the mixing bowls. These are one of my dream items.

Vintage Light Blue & White Pyrex Set

Another casserole dish. I have yet to find one with a lid, but I don't care. I love this style. I have the pink flamingo but would love to find it in other colors. A lady on another blog found the turquoise one for $3.99. What a deal.

Vintage PYREX Casserole Gold/Mustard bowl 2 QT 024

I love this mixing bowl. And at $4.95 it is not a bad price. It is the $13.56 in shipping charges I want to avoid.

Scrap Fabric Ideas

I have a basket full of beautiful material that I don't have a clue what to do with. I was looking on Pinterest for some ideas. Here are quite a few good ideas. Unfortunately, people who pin don't always show a link back to directions so you would have to figure out how, but most of them look easy enough.  This is cute for entertaining a baby.

I never thought about coasters before.

This would be a good home school project to learn the states. Looks like it would take a while, but could be fun. Of course you could also do this with scrapbook paper and make it like a puzzle so they could learn the states.

This is too cute. It could be made from scrap ribbon.

I love this. It reminds me of Thirty-One. It's a good idea on what to do with some of those sample swatches when they discontinue patterns.

These were some note cards.

Some more note cards.

If you don't mind sewing, these are some really cute bookmarks.

But my favorite was these necklace charms. I love wearing solid color tops and sweaters. How cute would it be to make some of these showcasing some of my favorite material. They would show up really well on solid tops.

I have some of the old sample swatches from past Thirty-One patterns. These would make some cute necklaces to wear to my Thirty-One events or for giveaways to my hostess and her guests.

Weekend Wrap Up

Had a nice weekend but didn't do a whole lot. I went to a birthday party with my daughter for a girl at church. When we came home, we had to stop for about 10 minutes on my daughter's road. It has recently become a deer crossing as this is the second week we have had to wait. The one on the road just stood there until all the others came out of the woods. There were 6 altogether. It was really neat. They just watched us as closely as we were watching them.

I was fascinated since I never see any near my place. I made the comment I was going to blog about it and my 9 year old grandson said that I always want to blog about everything. I agreed and told him I was so going to blog about him saying that. He just sighed and shook his head.

I had bought these little cheap shower curtain rings at Family Dollar for $1.50 the other day.

I had seen an idea on Pinterest (of course) that I wanted to try.

My spare closet doesn't have any clothes in it so that is where I have chosen to keep my purses and bags. I had some odd and end mismatched hangars that I would hang them from so I could get to them easily. But it has always bothered me because they looked so messed up and not very neat.

So I decided to try this idea I saw where you hang your purses and bags from shower hooks. You can use the hook kind or the circles. I didn't want to try the hooks because they mostly had decorative hooks and looked a little frail if you had a lot of weight against them. So I tried the rings and I am beyond thrilled with the results. I still have some more to hang up, but I didn't get to finish Project Clean the Closet. But I wanted to show you how it was going.

Now my purses are easily accessible without knocking down hangars every time I want to change purses or bags. I am loving the fact that the closet looks so much neater with just this one little change.

While I was on Pinterest, I decided to look around. The new Chevron pattern is all the rage. I said I would like to have a lap quilt for the couch with this pattern. Of course, since I can't quilt I don't see it happening. But I do love it.

I love this necklace for spring have several outfits this would look good with.

I have a wing back chair that I would like to have reupholstered with a different material since it is in a spare room and doesn't need to match the couch anymore. I liked this look especially with the throw pillow. But I worry that I would get tired of it in time.

Then I found this one. I am in love. The various patterns and different fabrics just hit me the right way. Plus I love the fact that it is pastel. If I could refinish it like this, I would move it into my office and put a sofa bed in the kids room. I love this.

I stopped at the magazine rack in the grocery store yesterday while I was waiting on them to put some hamburger meat out. We were having chili for supper and they had run out of hamburger. As I was browsing, I found several magazines I had never seen before. I may have to go back and get a couple of them.

Well, it is Monday and I promised myself I was going to set some goals for the week so I could stay focused. So I guess I better get started on it.

Things I'm not too sure about.....

There are some things that I see that just make me say "Hmm, I don't think so."

One is Turducken. Yuck. I can't even begin to comprehend how horrible that is. I went to find a picture of one, but the ones that were sliced open were so gross I thought I better not share it. I do not like my food to touch on my plate. Why in the world would I want it stuffed inside everything before I eat it. Just let me say again...YUCK!

Valentine's Junior Mints. Now you all know that I adore Junior Mints. I'm obsessed with having two candy dishes full of them at all times. One in the living room and one in my office. And if I do run out (shuddering at the thought) I pace until I can get to the store to get more (can we say ADDICTION?) But the other day, I saw where they have made special Junior Mints for Valentine's Day. I picked up the box to show hubby. And almost gagged. The inside of the heart shaped Junior Mints is red...like a bleeding heart. Gross! Come on Junior Mint company do you really think this is an attractive box?

While this may be an attractive look for models who have nothing to do but stand around and pose in the dress, how comfortable could this be? I would spend all night tugging it down to make sure my hiney is not exposed only to immediately pull it back up to make sure nothing is happening on the topside.

Does this give new meaning to the phrase "knee high boots." I have short legs and if I bought these, they wouldn't be knee high....they would be pretty close to hiney high. Not to mention they are kind of hideous.

Like any women in the world, I like to occasionally think of myself as the Queen of the World...at least for a brief moment in time. But this bedroom would seriously cause sleepless nights. I would be afraid the big crown would fall off the wall and onto my head during the night. Of course, that would give new meaning to the word "Crowned".

I love high heels as well as the next gal, but seriously could you ever drive around in public in this?

What strange things are going on in your world today?

Plans for the day....

It has been forever since I have had such a crazy "what else can go wrong" day like I did yesterday. It started out just fine. Then we ended up with a Comcast crash that lost the internet and phone. Took awhile to get that fixed. The truck broke down on our way to town. Fortunately, it happened about 500 feet from our car guy. So $120 later and some kind of new switch we were good to go. Which sucked because I had did some freelance work that made me an extra $100 bucks this week. I was going to do some spring shopping. But that went out the window. We saw a recipe on Pinterest that was so easy. Reese cups, peanut butter, butter and Rice Krispies. Beware of recipes on Pinterest. We bought what we needed and when I made it by the recipe, it was a disaster. It was supposed to set up like chocolate peanut butter Rice Krispie bars. It ended up like chocolate cereal. I did some research and found the real recipe. They left out sugar, chocolate chips and corn syrup. They said 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and it should have been 1 1/2 cups. Here is what it should have looked like but it sure didn't. You can get the real recipe here

Reese’s Krispies

But I've got a better feeling about today. I'm starting off with a healthy (yeah, right) breakfast of my two favorite food groups....peanut butter and chocolate. Keebler has some new cookies called Pitter Patters, they are similar to Nutter Butters, but they taste more like the peanut butter Girl Scout cookies. And I am love peanut butter cookies with Tru Moo Chocolate milk from Mayfield. Yummy way to start the day.

I'm heading out to AC Moore this morning to get some things for a couple of craft projects. I'm going to pick up some ribbon and scrap book paper to do this craft in Sunday School class in the morning. The kids love making things for their Mommy's. Not sure I can cut out the birdies, so I'm thinking we will change it to hearts for Valentine's and I'll get some pretty Valentine's ribbon.

And I have a home organizing project for this afternoon that involves shower curtain rings but doesn't involve the shower. Come back Monday to see what I do with these.

I think I may have decided on my new tennis shoes for spring. I am super easy on tennis shoes. I have some Skechers that have lasted about 4 years and some Reeboks that have been around for 3. Of course, when you mostly wear flip flops, it is easy to be easy on your tennis shoes. But I am ready to go back to Nike. I had a pair of Nike one time that lasted closed to 6 years and were barely scuffed. I just was tired of them. I found a pair I loved and they are daughter approved. Translated that means my fashion conscious daughter will not be embarrassed to be seen with me.

Well, I have been up for two hours and have not accomplished anything. I guess I need to get it in gear. Have a great day.

Finally Friday

I woke up to find this posted on Facebook this morning by a dear friend. She said she had several friends it applied to, but that it just screamed my name. I have to agree with her. This is so me.

Here's a little chuckle for all my friends who have hubby's with a warped sense of humor.

My word this year is BELIEVE so when I saw this on Facebook I knew I just had to share it on my blog. This is one of her giveaways. I hope she adds it to her Etsy Shop.

She is also giving away this bracelet. I fell in love with it. She always has awesome inspirational jewelry.

Speaking of blessed, our choir gets the privilege of singing with the Dumplin Valley Trio at Beech Springs Baptist Church in Kodak, TN this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. They are awesome and I love it when we get to be their back up singers.

I'm so glad we didn't get a ton of snow. This is the first Friday that hubby and I will get to go running around in 3 weeks. I have missed it. We did go on Thursday last week. But that meant I had to work on Friday. I usually work 4 ten hour days so we can play on his Friday off, giving me a 3 day weekend every week. It feels good to be back to normal this week. We may stop at a few thrift and antique stores. He is looking for this bottle.

Well, it is here. The month of love. The time when you see those adorable Valentine's and wish you were back in school.

Hubby and I usually just get each other a card and a box of candy. I did see something else I liked, but I'm thinking it I asked hubby for it, it would think I was ready for the looney bin.

Oh, well a girl can always dream.

Thoughts for Thursday

After much research, I found the right recipe for this chocolate graham cracker cake I saw on Pinterest. My schedule is finally getting back to normal so I'm going to make one of these this weekend.

I love my children dearly and love the fact that they have a warped sense of humor just like me. I also love that they get my sarcasm. And the wonderful thing is that they married spouses who are just as warped as we are. Makes for a lot of fun and laughter at family gatherings. If you can't keep your sense of humor, I don't know how you can survive.

There were some gorgeous photos posted on Facebook this past week by Donna's Corner.  You should check out her page. I fell in love with this and it is now the background on my laptop. Can't you just picture the Mom in the house. She just finished the laundry and now she is probably sweeping the floors. It must be a beautiful spring day since she has the window open for the cool breeze to blow through the house. I can almost smell an apple pie in the oven.

Isn't this a peaceful lovely setting for a church. Imagine spending a Sunday morning in a town where you could walk to church and this is the lane you would take to get there. Talk about a great way to start your day.

I'm sure everyone has seen the survivor bracelets everywhere. But I had never seen them with photos before. How cool is that.

I'm not sure who wrote this, but I'm convinced they were spying on me Monday because that is exactly how my day went. I'm still not sure I accomplished everything I set out to do.

I cracked up at this one. I remember when Daddy taught us how to do Rock, Paper, Scissors. Sometimes, we would just set for a long time and do it for the fun of it...not to settle anything. It's a lot easier to understand than the Big Bang Theory favorite of rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock.

But my favorite thing on Facebook this week was a picture posted on my wall by my cousin Patty. Talk about torture. She was in Kentucky and went in an antique store and found this. I see several things in there that I would love to have. But with that much to choose from, how would you ever decide. Still it is a gorgeous picture and I'm so glad she sent it to me.

Saw something else interesting in the recipe world. It is a white chocolate brownie. Since I don't like white chocolate anyway and the main reason I like brownies is because they are chocolate, I can't see me making this. I would probably rename it as the albino brownie. Looks more like vanilla fudge wrapped around white cake.
