Happy Valentine's Day

It's the day of Love. Do you have any special plans? Hubby is off today so we are just going to hang out together. Not sure if we are going anywhere or just stay at home.  I was looking for a picture of me and Hubby to show today. We neither one like to have our picture taken and I am usually the one taking them. I found this one from one of our trips somewhere back in the late 80's. Both of us had such long hair and what was up with the HUGE glasses. Hubby's beard was so long and bushy. This just cracks me up. I think we need to get a recent photo taken together...SOON!

Hubby gave me the key to his heart for Valentine's Day. It is a little necklace I have been drooling over. Keys are one of the symbols Thirty-One uses a lot, especially in their earlier days. I've been wanting a key necklace for quiet sometime so I was thrilled to pieces to get this one. 

Thirty-One was based on the principals in Proverbs 31 so anytime I see something from Proverbs I love it. In the card Hubby got me was a bible verse: He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord. - Proverbs 18:22. The whole card was very romantic. He's such a wonderful Hubby.

Pyrex Around the World on Wednesday

It is always interesting to me how certain areas are Pyrex poor while other areas have an abundance. I took a trip around the world (well, the U.S. anyway). It fascinates me what value others place on Pyrex when they are selling it. You can tell from the prices that some people know the value of what they have and some people don't. And some don't really care...they just want to get rid of it. Here are some I found from across the US on Craig's List. 

This set of fridgies is in Washington for $49 for the set. Tad on the high side. 

One of the most popular and most beloved prints, the Butterprint. This is in Pennsylvania for $10.

A partial set of Cinderella Butterprints. These can get a little expensive, but these 3 pieces are for sell in Pennsylvania for $10 for all three pieces. Unbelievable. 

This is the Hamilton Beach Pyrex mixing bowl set that I love. I have the big bowl and now I want the one with the pour spout. I paid $12 for the big one. This entire set is only $15 in San Diego. 

Seattle always seems to have the most Pyrex and the best deals. This divided dish in the pink daisy is only $10. I want to find a couple more of these divided dishes now that my sister suggested using them to serve snacks - candies in each side or chip and dip or salsa and chips. I need to find some of these. 

Some of the people from Seattle must realize the value of collecting. This mint condition set of mixing bowls in Butterfly gold with the box is going for $95. Too rich for my taste.

Check out these solid color bowls. Not sure if they came as a set like this or not and not sure what they are called but they are all four Pyrex and he is selling them for $25 for the set in Pennsylvania.

This listing was in Maryland and they are asking $15 for ALL of these as one set. That is like $3 per piece. WOW! I would pay that just to get the woodland loaf pan on the bottom right. 

Here is another one of the pink daisies divided dish. This one is in Knoxville for $20. 

And this piece I have sent an email on to see if they still have it. It is in Knoxville for $8 and since I am in Knoxville a lot, I could pick it up.

Indiana had a listing of these fridgies. Just $3 for each one. Not a bad deal at all. Finding fridgies with lids is hard to do especially at such a good price.

This gooseberry bowl is a pattern I love. It is in Pennsylvania for $15

I really want to go to Quakertown, PA. They have this striped bowl for just $9. These are hard to find around here. 

This casserole dish is $10 in Seattle. I have seen two of these locally and they were $25 and $35 so $10 is a good deal. 

The following items do not have prices and they are in an antique store in Anchorage, Alaska. I have always wanted to visit Alaska. Now that I have a reason to go.

Do you have things that you get addicted to? My latest addiction is Dragon City on Facebook. Let me say that I am not one of those people who do online games. I have nothing against them, but I just don't get into that....until now. I allow myself some time on it first thing every morning and a little every night. I have my grandson Garret to thank for introducing me to it. It is really cool. I have actually made it to level 19 and created some really cool dragons.

I have fallen in love with the sound of new country music artist Greg Bates. He is a real cutie pie. I've got to get his CD for the car.

I saw some awesome vintage items on a blog the other day and the lady had found them at her local flea market. It was like a light bulb went off. I go to antique stores, thrift stores, yard sales and I have never thought about the flea market. We have on about 6 minutes from my house with a lot of outside booths that care yard sale type items and I am sure there would be vintage and lots of goodies at it. It is 200,000 square feet with over 600 booths. Thinking I need to go there.



There was actually a yard sale in my town this past Saturday. I didn't go to it because she has one about 5 times a year and it just has never been one of the places I find things. But it was fun to see the garage sale sign and no that the season is almost upon us.



I also found a new thrift store recently that has some Pyrex in a few of the booths. It is a little upscale for a thrift store. The prices are not thrift store prices but they are not as high as an antique store. Some of the bowls were just $6 - $8 but the one time I went they just didn't have anything I was looking for right then and nothing that caught my eye for that price so I'll keep checking back.

Weekend Wrap Up

Monday's are just so rough. I hate having to try to get back into focus. But on the bright side, just 5 days till the weekend again. This past weekend was pretty quiet. Garret, Alexis and Colby came over and stayed with me some on Friday night for a little while, but didn't get any pictures. I have got to get a camera. By the time I click the sleep button on my phone and slide the lock button on the screen, click on camera and click on flash, my Kodak moments are already just a memory. 

I went shopping with my daughter and Shelby and Caleb on Saturday. My daughter has a warped sense of humor and I never know what she is going to say. (And she wonders where her children get it from). Anyway, we stopped at Wendy's for lunch and Caleb who is 9 was picking on his sister Shelby who is 4. Shelby got mad and punched him in the arm. Diana, being a good mommy, said "Shelby, don't hit your brother like that." Then she ruined it by adding "Use your right hand. You are right handed so you can hit harder that way."

Once I came home, it was time to bake some goodies for our Valentine's party at church today. I love to bake and volunteer to do it any chance I can. 

I especially love it when I get to use an assortment of my vintage Pyrex in the process. 

I made brownie cookies. The recipe is on the side of the box of Duncan Hine Chewy Fudge brownie mix. To make them festive, I stuck a conversation heart in each one when they were done. 

I hate making sugar cookies, but I do it anyway because you can put sprinkles on. I mixed the white and red sprinkles together in a sugar shaker and it made them less messy to sprinkle on. 

By the way, have you seen the new Oreo Mega Stuf's. Wow. 

Remember the old commercial "The kid'll eat the middle of an Oreo first and save the chocolate cookie outside for last." Well, trust me there is plenty of middle to eat on these new Oreo's. They were delicious. (They were also my breakfast Sunday morning, but don't tell anybody.) 

I fixed up some Valentine cards for the Pre-K class. Been a long time since I did that!

Megan, a little girl in our class, asked if we could have a picnic. So we had our Valentine party on the floor picnic style. I packed the cookies and a tablecloth in my favorite bag from Thirty-One. It's the Organizing Utility Tote and I use it so much. I need to get a new one in a spring pattern. 

I also carried my new Inside Out bag this weekend. Wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but once I got my stuff in it and carried it, I fell in love with it. It is so light weight that I couldn't believe it. 

I got some cool Valentine's and can't wait to eat my Whitman's chocolates. 

The kids took some Valentine's around to the Senior men's and women's classes and the Ladies Class. Everybody was tickled pink at getting little Valentine's from our class.

We started practicing our Easter music at choir practice last night. It is going to be an easy one to learn. It ends with one of my favorite songs. Well, off to get started on my week. Hope everybody has an easy Monday.
