Top 10 Tuesday

There is an estate sale happening this weekend in a neighboring town. I probably won't get the chance to go, but I did see some things that would interest me if the price was right.

I spotted some Pyrex (of course) Cinderella bowls that I would check out.

I am a sucker for old typewriters. I always check them out, fall in love with them and never buy one. But I would love to see this one up close. Looks in pretty good shape.

I am in love with the vintage looking cookie jar with the red lid.

This is a gorgeous piece of furniture. I would almost sell my antique secretary to make room for this...almost.

This is a pretty piece of furniture as well, but it wouldn't go with anything I have. I thing it would be gorgeous for a linen cabinet.

I don't know what it is about this picture, but I fell in love with it.

This is just too precious. It would need clean up and a new paint job, but I love it.

I would really like to have this in my craft room. Definitely needs some TLC.

I have a weakness for teapots and these colors are in my craft/office room where I keep a lot of my tea pot collections.

But this was my favorite item of all. I would absolutely love to have this for my craft room. Imagine all the goodies you could store in it.

I may not make it to the estate sale, but I got some good ideas for my wish list for spring.

I changed my mind.....

Do you ever buy something that is a good deal only to get it home and later on decide it wasn't what you wanted? Well, this past year I picked up some good deals at various thrift stores and yard sales that I have changed my mind on. I liked this Fire King Meadow Green casserole dish when I saw it, but I have decided to sale or trade it off.

I had bought the matching baking dish in the same pattern and have never used it. I have a Pyrex one I use all the time.

I bought this Opal Pyrex 023 because there was no pattern, just simple white. Now, I don't like it any more because there is no pattern, just simple white.

A friend gave me this gravy boat because I had this pattern in some bowls. Now I am tired of this pattern and want to trade for something more in the line of what I am collecting.

This Glasbake loaf pan is pretty, but just something I have never used and never found a good place to put it.

The Old Orchard Pyrex 043 is a common piece, but not everyone collects it. I used to have several pieces in this pattern, but that was way back before I started collecting and they have ended up in yard sales.

These were two of my first Pyrex pieces I bought when I started collecting. Now it is not one of the patterns I collect any more.

I'm going to hit the Varage Sale, Craigslist and Facebook Vintage groups this morning to put all this up for sale or trade. If you know anyone who is a collector that may be interested in these pieces, feel free to send them a link to this blog. I would love to part with these to make room for the patterns I am collecting now.

Sunday Morning Song

I had four young girls at my house ranging from 5 - 12 last night. We had a blast doing crafts and making homemade pizza. There was a lot of laughter and fun. But the highlight of the evening was when they all starting singing.

They sang. They danced. They cheered. They performed. And they had a blast doing it.

They didn't care what song it was and it was fun just watching them get excited about the next song they picked out on You Tube.

It was such a relaxing, fun evening. Not a one of them had a shy bone in their body when it came to performing.

It reminded me why I like to be in the choir. There is just something uplifting and tension releasing about singing.

Because of all the joy they found in song, I wanted to find a really upbeat song for this morning. Hope you enjoy.

Trading Pyrex

I belong to several vintage kitchen trade groups on Facebook. One of my favorites is Pyrex 4 Trade. I have scored some really good trades in there in the past. I did a couple of trades last week and one of them arrived yesterday. I love coming home and having a box awaiting me.

It's feels like Christmas or my birthday when I get a goody in the mail. She had it packaged real good.

I unwrapped the Saran wrap and found a ton of bubble wrap. Which I recycle. The first rule of trading is to keep whatever packing material you receive. It saves money when you do your next trade.

I was so excited to unwrap my yellow Pyrex cake pan. It's beautiful.

It is the same size as my green one I got last summer. Finally, a set of them. Now I can bake a two layer cake using my Pyrex. I can't wait.

I still have two items left to trade, but haven't had any takers yet. Does anyone need the Pyrex Old Orchard casserole dish. I am looking for a trade.

The only other item I am trading is a true opal round casserole. I have debated on this one, but I have nothing else opal so I decided to trade that as well.

But if they don't trade, I will just keep them in my collection.

A gift from a friend...

I have a dear friend who is an avid crocheter. I asked her to make me 4 or 5 little crocheted doilies the other day and offered to buy them from her. She is such a sweetheart that she wouldn't take anything for them, but offered to make them for free if I didn't care what thread or yarn she used. I assured her it didn't matter because I had plans for them and no one would see them. Well, she called yesterday and said she had dropped the bag off at my house. I came home to find this.

She had made me 10 of the little doilies. I was beyond thrilled. I needed them for a specific reason and this is plenty to do what I needed.

As you know, I collect Pyrex and I collect the Cinderella and the mixing bowl sets that nest inside each other. Sometimes when the dryer runs in the utility room, the racks in the kitchen will shake a little and I always worry about my bowls getting chipped or scratched.

I have found if I place a crochet doily in the bottom, they won't move and it adds a little cushion to prevent scratching. I placed one in my new bowl from Christmas.

Then I stacked the next one in the set inside the bigger bowl on the doily.

Now they are stacked and won't shake. I am loving it. I still need two more to complete this set, but I already have the doilies when I need them.

She surprised me with the extra white doilies, but then she surprised me even more with the red dishcloth. I love these. I collect them because they have so many uses and never seem to wear out.

She even made me a few red doilies so I can use them for Valentine's. I was thrilled.

I love all my goodies. Thank you my dear friend.

Pretty 'n Pink

I love pink. Especially when it is vintage. Here are some recent pinks I fell in love with on Pinterest.
