Weekend Wrap Up

I'm a little late on my weekend wrap up. I've had a hacking cough for 5 days and have not slept well. It is easing up some and I got some sleep last night so I feel ready to tackle the weekend wrap up. 

Friday night, I made lemon cookies with creamy lemon icing to take to my Thirty One Celebrate & Connect (C & C) meeting on Saturday.

Saturday I headed out to the meeting for a couple of hours of fun with my Thirty-One sisters. We had to do an exercise that included doing selfies. I do not do selfies so this really pulled me out of my comfort zone. I coerced my friend Theresa (R) to take one with me. We didn't realize our two buddies behind us were going to get in on the act. We had a ball with it. 

We got to see the summer line and learn about the new products coming out in May. We each got to go home with our new amenity...the Deluxe Utility Tote. It is bigger than the Large Utility Tote and has a reinforced bottom that will carry up to 100 pounds. I love the flip flop pattern. 

It comes with the carry straps like all the utility totes or it has handles on the sides to carry it. It has three pockets on the front. It is awesome. I just love getting free products. 

After the meeting I ran a few errands then came home to clean the house. I was looking through my holiday boxes trying to find my Easter egg wreath when I stumbled on this little toothpick holder I had forgotten about. I pulled out my milk glass platter and rearranged my table centerpiece for the little ducks to go on.

I love the way it turned out.

I also found my little peeps cup and my Easter tea for one.

I added them to my kitchen Easter display.

I had traded a piece of Pyrex for two milk glass planters. I had a philodendron that I replanted and I found this cute little pink/green plant at Lowe's. I'm taking them to my office where they will get plenty of sunshine.

I was so tired Saturday night so I just laid around and watched TV. Sunday morning, I got up early and while the house was quiet I had a snack and looked through my new Thirty-One Summer catalog to see what all the new items are going to be. I need to work on my wish list. 

Then I headed out to Sunday School and church. We had movie day for the little ones during Sunday School class. They really enjoyed it. I think the teachers enjoyed it as much as they did.

All in all it was a great, relaxing weekend.

Saturday!

I love Saturday's. Today is going to be an exciting one. My Thirty-One meeting is today and I baked lemon cookies with creamy lemon frosting. I hope everyone likes them. I wanted to sprinkle lemon zest on the icing, but I use it in the cookie and in the icing so I didn't have enough to sprinkle on. 

All of our meeting are fun because it's a great group of women who know how to enjoy life. But today will be especially a blast because it is the premier of the new summer catalog and we will get to see the new line of products and patterns. We got a sneak peak of some of them for the April special.

They always allow us opportunities to earn new products and to purchase a few new items to add to our kit. I have already ordered my add on kit, but won't learn until today what is in it. We also have an opportunity to earn free products with as little as $300 in sales over the next two weeks. We will find out what those products are today.

It is going to be a great day!

A wonderful trade....

There is an awesome group on Facebook called Pyrex 4 Trade. I have gotten a lot of good trades in there and all it cost is the shipping to send the trade out from my end. I recently traded this piece of Pyrex that I know longer needed.

My trade arrived yesterday. Since I have traded several things lately, I couldn't remember what I traded this for. I ripped into it and was pleased to see how well it was packed. 

I dug through all the peanuts and found tons of bubble wrap protecting whatever goody was in store for me. 

I slowly unpeeled the bubble wrap with delight as I realized what it held.

My two new milk glass vases. I love them. I am putting plants in them for my new office. I am beyond thrilled. I didn't realize the big one would be so big. I love it. My philodendron is going in it. Not sure what I will put in the other one yet. I just know I am very happy with the trade.

I celebrated later last night with a big bowl of vanilla ice cream covered with chocolate syrup and peanuts. 

It was an awesome way to end a Thursday

Just some things....

Hubby was watching American Pickers when they found a Lincoln Drape milk glass vase by Aladdin. This was produced for one year from 1940-1941 before they discontinued making it due to the war. I fell in love with it. Isn't it gorgeous?

I saw a pic on one site of Pyrex for sale. Of the things on this table I like...I already have. Must mean my collection is coming along nicely.

This summer I am going to look for a vintage Formica table. I want it for my craft room. I just love these old tables. 

I have seen this picture at many antique stores and thrift stores. Now that I think I'd like to have it for my home office, I probably won't ever find it again. 

This is a local estate sale this weekend. Check out the green dessert dishes in the lower right hand corner. I would love to have a set of those in the blue/green carnival glass pattern.

Windows of Gold

There is a legend that has often been told

Of the boy who searched for the Windows of Gold.

The beautiful windows he saw far away

When he looked in the valley at sunrise each day.

And he yearned to go down to the valley below

But lived on a mountain covered with snow,

And he knew it would be a difficult trek,

But that was a journey he wanted to make.

So he planned by day and he dreamed by night

Of how he could reach The Great Shining Light.

And one golden morning when dawn broke through

And the valley sparkled with diamond of dew.

He started to climb down the mountainside

With the Windows of Gold as his goal and his guide.

He traveled all day and, weary and worn,

With bleeding feet and clothes that were torn.

He entered the peaceful valley town

Just as the Golden Sun went down.

But he seemed to have lost his "Guiding Light,"

The windows were dark that had once been bright.

And hungry and tired and lonely and cold
