Blessed Redeemer

As we reflect back to this day thousands of year ago, it is with bittersweet thoughts. My God gave His only Son to suffer great pain that we could never begin to comprehend. He let Him bleed and die on that cross...for me, for you, for us all. Yet how many times do we stop and think about how He must have felt and to know He could stop the pain and suffering and any given moment by saving Father, I don't want to do this. It hurts. Help me. But He didn't. My Saviour, my Jesus, hung on that cross slowly dying. You wonder if He looked upon Mary and made eye contact. How did she feel to see her baby boy suffering so. And his disciples who were so faithful and who loved Him so, how must they have felt as they stood by and watched what He was suffering through and yet they could not intervene or help. The sheer torment of that day breaks our hearts, brings tears to our eyes and our minds can never ever understand a love that strong that would go through such agony just so we could be free. I dedicate this blog today to my Blessed Redeemer. The one who gave His life so I could live. The one walks beside me every day of my life. He picks me up when I fall and loves me no matter what. Please read the words to this beautiful song and listen to the video. It touches my heart like no other song ever has. This is my thank you to my Lord for all He has done for me.

Just some random stuff....

I stopped by a thrift store recently and they had this Bakers Rack for a little over $30. I wish I had somewhere to put another one in my house. My first thought was thinking how much Pyrex it could hold. But since I had nowhere to put it, I had to leave it behind. 

My husband did a friend of mine a favor and she rewarded him with a carrot cake. He has been enjoying it the last couple of days. It was homemade from scratch and he says it is delicious. 

The same friend played Easter Bunny and brought me a basket of tea cakes to take to work today to share with my co-workers. Of course, I tried them out last night. I love these. She has made them before at a church bible study I attended and they were a huge hit then. And I know they are going to be a huge hit today.

This same friend makes the crochet dishcloths that I am so crazy about. She makes them for me all the time. She always gives me two. One for me and one for my friend Stevie Marie. I love the pretty spring colors in these.

I saw the neatest idea on Pinterest. I shared it on Facebook and my daughter pointed out they look like spider webs not doilies so just imagine it with different doilies that don't look like spider webs. 

This reminded me of a picture our boss's wife bought for the new office. Here is the picture but it was in a distressed old frame. 

I fell in love with it and decided to recreate it using my friends old typewriter. I was telling my hubby about it last night and said I was going to look at yard sales for some old frames to use. That triggered his memory about some old family pics we had put up in the closet. It made us curious to see if we could determine who the people were. When I got them down, we had this one frame that belonged to his grandmother that I had forgotten about. I am thinking of painting it a barn red and using chalkboard paint on the glass and hanging it in my kitchen. What do you think?

One of the pics was really old. We are not sure who they are but we do know it was one set of his great grandparents on his mother's side, just not sure how far back it goes on the "great" part. 

We found this one as well. By comparing it to old photos I have on his dad's side, we figured this to be his great, great grandmother sitting down, but not sure who the lady is standing beside her. We believe it to be one of his great aunts. I need to find all this out. 

I have the day off tomorrow so I plan on looking for yard sales and visiting a few antique stores. I love when we have a three day weekend.

Facebook Finds

There were some recent posts I saw on my Facebook page that I thought I would share with you. You don't have to be a cat lover to find this funny. 

And anyone who has ever had a child will get a kick out of this.  

Someone posted this article that was in a singer sewing manual in 1949 supposedly. I don't know if that is true or not, but I did find this funny.

One of my vintage groups had this in it. I would love to find these, but she didn't have the lids. I already have the little rooster cup in the back. 

I do not know who made these or what pattern they are called but I fell in love with them. 

They even had a little bowl to match. 

My great Ms. M showed up on a Facebook post the other day sporting her stylish sun bonnet and sunglasses along with her new wheels. 

Isn't this pitcher gorgeous. I may look for a vintage pitcher this year and keep lemonade made in it. 

And the final one is this interesting fact about this week. I found this to be very neat.

Top 10 Tuesday

I just joined an antique group on Varage Sale. The group is call Ye Olde Antiques and Collectibles. You can post your items for sale, items you are looking for and items others are selling. There are some pretty good deals on there and some that are a little pricey. Here are my top 10 items I saw that I really liked. 

Weekend wrap up

It was a beautiful weekend. You could not ask for better weather. I picked up my daughter Saturday morning to head out to do some shopping. Her neighborhood is full of dogwood trees and they are looking beautiful.

We headed out for the great flip flop search. I did not find the solid black like I was looking for so I will have to keep looking. But I did find these black and white ones at Sears for 40% off making them $9.60. I love multi-strap shoes so I bought them. I used my Kmart rewards to gather points.

Then I ventured to the clothing department. I absolutely fell in love with this top. It is so comfortable and I'm a sucker for paisley print. It was just $12.99 so I decided to get it. When I went to pay, the lady used my Kmart Rewards card again and said "You have $5.00 available do you want to use it?" Of course I said yes so I got my shirt for just $7.99. Love a surprise bargain.

I was looking for ice trays and stumbled on these plates in blue dots. It was love at first sight. 

I looked around and found the service for four set and just fell in love with them. But I didn't buy them. We have a set of matching platters, a set of mismatched platters, a service for 8 in green ironstone and a service for 12 in fine china. I knew I didn't need another set of dishes. But oh if I did, this is what I would get.

We had moved some furniture around in the bedroom and I have been trying to decide what to put on this little stand. When I got home Saturday, hubby had fixed this display before he went to work. I liked it so I am leaving it here. It goes great with the decor in my bedroom.

Saturday night, I went to our church's Young at Heart gathering. We grilled out hotdogs and hamburgers. There was potato salad, baked beans, macaroni salad, chili, cole slaw and all the fixings for a great burger. I had the hotdog, baked beans and potato salad. It was delicious. There was a dessert table fit for a king. I had lemon pound cake and something that was pudding, Oreo, whipped cream and Heath bar chips. Everything was awesome.

I talk about my church a lot. Earlier that day, I had to get a picture for the cover of the new church directory so I swung by on my way home from shopping and my daughter took this for me. 

I mentioned wanting the new Corelle dishes above. Hubby reacted like I knew he would. He laughed at me and said where in the world will you put them. He's right. My cabinets are crammed to the max. He joked with me and said I could always get rid of my vintage peanut butter glasses. I was appalled! They are vintage! Boscul peanut butter glasses from the 1950's! A set of 12 of their flower patterns! Was he crazy? I thought he was until I asked one of my FB antique experts what they were worth. I bought them for $6.00 for the whole set at a yard sale. I sent him pictures of each glass and he looked them up for me. Their appraised valued for the set is.....$583.00!  He said if I sold them as a set I could probably get around $300 or more for the set. I am going to put the word out for $250 and try to sell them. I don't use them. We will see what happens. If they sell, I will definitely have more cabinet space. Here is what they look like in my cabinet. They are pretty and I will have a hard time parting with them.

Sunday Funny

The great flip flop hunt is on.....

First, let me say I think I may be addicted to flip flops. I have 19 pairs and I have a very hard problem throwing them away when they wear out. The inside soul can get worn and tattered and I still don't want to part with them. But I have 3 or 4 pair that really should go. I didn't realize how many I had until I got them all out last night.



My favorite pair of black flip flops is going to need to be replaced. The inner sole is cork and it is disintegrating. I am sad. So, today is starting the great flip flop hunt for something comfortable and thin straps so I can replace them. I've gotten a head start and searched online at my stores I will be visiting today. I have decided that Sears, Target or Belk will have something I like. I don't remember which of these came from where, but I'm hitting all three stores today so I will figure it out. I liked the looks of these.

This is the pair I really think will work for what I want. The strap is thin and sole is thin and looks really comfy. This one was at Sears for just $12.99.

This one looks like it would be comfortable but I'm just not sure.

I like the bow, but I think I would feel silly wearing these at my age.  

I like the bling on this one but I don't like the tiny little heel. I like flat flip flops the best.

However, even with the little heel I fell in love with this one. Love the gold medallion. 

I may pick up two pairs if I can find these in stock in my size. I love these shoes. 

I adore these sparkly ones. I have nail polish this exact shade that glitters and sparkles as well. These are just $6.00 but I don't remember if I saw them at Sears or Target. 

And don't laugh at me, but OH MY GOSH! Gold tone jelly shoes for just $6.50. I would love to find these. 

One thing I know for sure is that I will not come home today until I have found some new flip flops.
