A busy weekend....

It has been a crazy weekend. Colby and I went out to eat and do a little shopping for his birthday. We had an awesome time.

After shopping and supper, I surprised him with a trip to the arcade. He was bouncing with excitement.

Saturday I did a little shopping and scored this beautiful sweater for just $14.00 at J.C. Penny. I have been looking at it a couple of weeks, but didn't want to pay $30 for a sweater. Couldn't believe they had it on sale.

I wanted a new long necklace with gold chain loops. Icing was having a sale so I went there to check out what they had. Nothing. I was very disappointed. The sales lady asked me if she could help so I told her what I was looking for. She said "Hang on. I have a basket of chains we are going to put on the clearance rack today and I think I have what you want." When she came back with this and told me it was $13.99 but the clearance price was $2.00, I decided it was exactly what I wanted. I got a lot of complements on it at church yesterday.

Saturday night, I met up with a friend of mine and her daughter and we put together 100 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. We tried to arrange them as a "Christmas tree" shape. Not too bad for trying to make a round object with rectangles.

Sunday afternoon was Colby's family birthday party. We had a great time. He got some neat gifts and was beyond excited.

After the party, I went to AT & T to upgrade my phone. The customer service was awful. The girl was so negative and argumentative. She kept pushing me to a phone like hers which was way bigger than what I wanted. I kept leaning toward a Samsung Galaxy Alpha. I kept asking her questions because I had never heard of this phone. She was very vague with her answers and kept pushing me toward a bigger phone, which I did not want. Finally, I asked her if this phone was obsolete because I had never heard of it. Turns out it was just released to the stores last Friday and they didn't have any in stock. Well, sorry, but I want  what I want. Not what she wanted me to have. So I came home and ordered it online. It is shipping overnight today with free shipping.

Like I said, it was a busy weekend. When I came home last night, I did some laundry and ate supper. I never did get around to decorating for fall. Oh well, maybe tonight.

Some fun finds this past week...

On our recent trip to the beach, we did a little shopping. I found this cute little sail boat to hang in my beach bathroom on the peg shelf.

As I was packing, I found this coaster I had started last year so I took the yarn with me and finished it on this past trip. Ready for hot chocolate.

I had found some beautiful jewel tone yarn. I have a friend who loves to play rummy and she had mentioned her card box was tearing up. So I used the new yarn to make her box.

These boxes only take a couple of hours to make. They are so relaxing.

My big find of the trip was Pyrex. Of course, I had to drag hubby antiquing one day. He laughed and said that only I would go all the way to the beach and come home with Pyrex. I got this 403 bowl.

And the matching 401 bowl.

Which was awesome because I had the 402. Now I just need the 404 in the color of the middle one and I'll have my whole set.

We stopped in an Old Time Pottery while we were there. I picked up these 3 items to decorate with fall. All 3 together were just over $7.00 and that included tax.

But the fun finds didn't stop there. I came home to find my Thirty-One order had arrived and my daughter had left it on my couch. I am loving my new purse. It is a skirt purse so I can change the skirt any time I want to whatever other patterns I decide to get.

I got the matching mini-zipper pouch as well with my famous B. I'm as bad as Laverne of Laverne and Shirley with her big L on everything.

But my favorite of all was the new tote bag for my laptop that I got for FREE! I am loving this even though it is HUGE.

There are tons of pockets, but one thing that makes it so awesome is it has this little snap and a zipper on both sides.

Just unzip it turn it over and zip it back up and you have a whole new bag.

Guess you can tell I had some great finds this week.

A crazy weekend....

I am going to have a busy weekend. I just hope I can fit everything into it that I want. Tonight, I have a date with a 4 year old. I'm taking Colby out to eat and birthday shopping. He gets to choose so it could be anything from Taco Bell to TGI Fridays. He has varied tastes.

When I get back home, I need to finish unpacking from my trip. I still haven't put everything away. At least hubby did some of the laundry for me so I don't have a lot of that left to do.

Saturday, I need to do some shopping and look for some fall dress shoes. It's getting a chill in the air and I fear the flip flops must soon be packed away. I am heading to West Town Mall and Kohl's so I should be able to find something I like. I really like these, but I am not sure they are even in style any more. I'll have to check with my fashionista daughter for some shoe advice.

After I get home from shopping, I need to meet with a friend who is helping me organize the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry for our church this year. We have 100 boxes to put together and insert instructions and labels in them. This is one of my favorite things to participate in at Christmas.

Then Sunday it is off to Sunday School and Church. After church, the family will gather for pizza and presents for Colby's birthday party.

On top of all that, I really need to decorate for fall. I am thinking I can do that Saturday morning before I head out shopping because it only takes me about an hour to put everything out and I've already cleaned the house this morning. I got some great new things to set out for fall and Halloween so I'm excited to get started. But for now, I need to get ready and head to work. We are supposed to have rain and dropping temperatures today so I think it is time to break out the jeans, shoes and socks. Have a great weekend!

What an awesome 7 days....

Hubby and I just got home last night from 8 days and 7 nights at Panama City Beach, FL. It was one of the best vacations we have ever had. We spend every evening watching the sunset into the ocean.

Watching it sink down into the Gulf is one of the most beautiful things to witness.

We had beautiful days everyday. It only rained one day and it moved out by 2:00. Another day, I was on the beach reading and dark clouds rolled in and you could see rain in the distance on the ocean and we could hear the thunder, but it never moved into the shore.

It finally moved on in about an hour.

One day, we took a 3 hour cruise on the Captain Anderson (and yes, I was a little worried when the Gilligan's Island song came into my head.)

Our first stop was Shell Island where we were able to get off the boat and spend an hour on the island. I found a ton of shells and my favorite were the three perfect sand dollars I found.

On the way back to port we went way out in the Gulf. They said we were 400 miles from Mexico...which is the closest I will ever get to going to Mexico and that is fine with me.

Then we came closer inland and came upon about 8 dolphins frolicking and playing. It was hard to get the perfect picture, but I was able to get quite a few of them.

And of course I had to get my toes in the water and sand every chance I could.

We had such a wonderful time. I saw this sign and it just seemed to sum up exactly how I feel when I leave the beach.

Happy Birthday, Colby James

Four years ago today we got our 5th grandchild. He has been a sheer joy to watch grow over the past four years. His personality is one of a kind and he keeps you laughing and keeps you on your toes. I just can't believe he is turning four. Where do the years go?

Everybody was amazed at how much hair he had. He was so sweet and cuddly.

He is all boy with those sneaky little looks that makes you wonder what he is up to.

He loves sports....baseball, football, basketball, soccer, racing,,,,,anything. And he normally wants to participate on the sidelines at any game he attends.

Even with all his energy, he still has his moments of sitting quietly and playing cars.

Sometimes he is just outside working on the lawn.

Point a camera at this cutie and you will definitely get a big smile.

He is full of giggles and grins and tons of fun.

Sometimes he wears himself out and just crashes wherever he is.

We love you so very, very much. Happy birthday, Colby James.

Saying goodbye to September...

It's time to bid adieu to September and embrace October. I need to get my fall decorating done. I'm running behind on it this year. One of the first things I set out in fall is my Harvest Angel

I will still be wearing flip flops on the warmer days, but it is time to look for new fall tennis shoes. Something I can wear socks with on those cool fall days. I am thinking Nike because it has been years since I had Nike. I think they were even more comfortable than my Skechers.

I also need to pick me up a zip up hoodie for fall. I don't like heavy jackets. I will probably go with a basic gray Old Navy jacket.

I am on the prowl for a new cup for my hot chocolate. I am always on the prowl for new cups. Something with lots of room for marshmallows. I would love to find some of these.

Hubby and I are both off today so we may go to some antique stores this morning. Just not sure what we want to do today, but I know it will be fun.
