Vintage Christmas Collecting

I love Vintage Christmas items. I am decorating my home office in vintage for Christmas. I found this set of lanterns on E-bay for just a few bucks. I love them, but sadly I ordered them for my daughter. She loves the vintage lantern style ornaments. I just couldn't pass them up for her.

I was talking to my friend, Stevie, about this little Santa and sleigh and one morning I came into work to find this on my desk. I was so shocked and very, very thrilled. I love it. Mom had one when we were little.

She is such a dear friend and we are always doing little things for each other. But she topped the list of good friends when she found me my little reindeer I had been looking to find for the past 2 years. They were setting with the sleigh.

I just have a few more things that I am looking for to add to my vintage Christmas. One is this manager. Mom had one just like it that I loved to move under the tree in front of the packages.

And my main thing I am still searching for is a cardboard fireplace.

I am thinking about trying to make a Christmas tree skirt out of vintage material unless I can find one out there somewhere in thrift world.

Random Wednesday

I was cleaning up my photo file and found some random items I wanted to share with you. I actually changed my Halloween decor to Thanksgiving on November 1st. It seems like our Thanksgiving celebration is so short that I wanted to get these out to enjoy as long as I can. I love my Harvest Angel and my new little blessing pumpkin.

I love my pumpkin, acorn and leaf.

Switched out the Halloween and converted my wine rack into Thanksgiving. Love the turkey dish towel my mommy made.

My favorite thing is my little Pilgrims. This is probably my favorite yard sale find ever and they were around a dollar or two.

Meet Trevor the Turkey. He is the Thanksgiving version of Elf on the Shelf. I call him the Turkey on the Table. He hasn't gotten into any mischief yet, but give him time. Alexis loved seeing the antics of Edgar the Elf last year. I may arm her and Shelby with Trevor and camera's Thanksgiving day and let them "write" my blog.

It is that time of year again when the orange Thin Mints are back. Seriously, if you haven't tried these you need to. They are divine.

Dunkin Donut has introduce the Cronut...a croissant donut. Just one thing to say about that...OH! MY! GOSH! Run out and grab you one today. I was in heaven with each flaky bite.

Did some Pyrex trading recently. I got me the opal pie plate. The 9" round one. I am loving it.

I also traded and got this beautiful snowflake divided dish. This will hold chips and dip at Christmas time. Yummy.

Well, those are my updates for today. Catch you tomorrow for more fun.

Top 10 Tuesday

I love Thanksgiving. I love the smell of turkey in the oven and the site of a pumpkin pie cooling on the counter. My Top 10 Tuesday today are items of decor and fun for Thanksgiving. There are several on this list I want to try to do this month.

Weekend Wrap Up

Saturday did start off with some snow flurries in my part of the county. My daughter posted this pic showing the snow and the fall leaves.

Not to be outdone, my son posted this pic of his snow just on the other side of the account. If this was a competition, I would have to say he wins.

I was going to a Christmas crafting party Saturday night and took cookies. I had this cupcake stand and decided to make it festive. I simply cut some Christmas scrapbook paper to use as doilies.

We just had popcorn, cookies, cheese & crackers, rice krispy treats and punch. It made for a perfect snack.

We had several tables set up to hold our craft items, like material...

....and trim....

...and yarn.

We set up work stations around the outer walls so we could hot glue and iron as we worked on our various projects.

We jumped from table to table to help each other along as well.

Then we had a table where we displayed are finished products.

Kristi's Rudolph and Clarisse tea towels were a huge hit.

We all loved Theresa's yarn ornaments.

As well as her no-sew runner.

I even got created a Thirty-One swatch coaster on the spot.

As for me, I loved my candy jar ... especially since I get to eat the candy in it. These make for great "thinking of you" gifts.

I made another one, but haven't put anything in it yet.

I made a tea towel stocking. Upon inspection I noticed one of the designs on the stocking was so dark it looks like a spot under the stocking top.

I love my little no sew doily. I am going to put it on a stand with all my pencil Santa's on it.

I love the "peppermint" yarn. I want to make some more of these.

But my favorite was this little picture. I Googled Christmas subway art and printed this off in a 4 x 6 picture on cream card stock. The frame is one of those little plastic frames for just $1. Then I glued on a bow and button. I am going to do some more of these!

All in all it was a great craft time.

My thankful thought for today is that I am so blessed to have such wonderful friends to hang out with who share the same interests I do.

Thank you, Lord, for your blessings on me....

I have been blessed with so much joy and happiness from the good Lord above. Sometimes I forget to just take the time to think of all the blessings I have been given by God. Today I am thankful for all his blessings.

The Month of Thanks

November is making herself known today as she arrives with snow. This is very unprecedented for our area, but they were calling for up to a foot on top of Mount LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountains. We are starting to see some flurries down here, but nothing is sticking at my house. My son lives on the other side of the country and someone from that area posted this picture on the news channel this morning.

I am going turkey hunting this morning...in a store...for a stuffed turkey. A toy one that is. Bass Pro has this one if I don't find one I like better.

Why do I need a stuffed turkey? Because, I have so much fun during Christmas with Edgar, my version of Elf on the Shelf that I have decided to have Trevor, the Turkey on the Table. I hope I can find a cute one and can't wait to see what mischief he will get into.

This is the month of giving thanks. Today, I give thanks to my almighty God who provides us with the ever changing weather in East Tennessee. I love all the seasons and there is something special about each one. But you have to find the humor in wearing flip flops on Wednesday and breaking out winter coats on Saturday.
