An early Valentine's surprise....

I had a visitor yesterday, my dear friend GeorgeAnna. She had brought me a gift.

I had asked her to make me a blue and a tan dishcloth and look what she made. Aren't they gorgeous.

Then she took some of the yarn and made this pretty doilie.

Which I put under my Town & Country set. I love it.

She also made me some of these coaster type things. I call them dish savers. I put them between the bowls in my Pyrex sets so they don't scratch or rub bowl against bowl.

She also got me this pretty mug. I thing I'll have some hot chocolate later in it.

The last item in the bag was a box.

But before I open it, do you remember when I posted these the other day?

I had shown them to GeorgeAnna and asked her if she thought she could make me a couple in pink, red and blue. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box and found this.

Oh I am SO in love with these. Let the decorating begin!

Thank you GeorgeAnna. You are the best!

A little decorating...

I am starting to set out some of my Valentine's Day decor. Here's the little dish cloth I made last year.

I incorporated some of my pink and red vintage into my other vintage on the wine rack.

I hung out my little bird dish towel a good friend of mine, GeorgeAnna, made for me last year.

That's all I have done so far. I want to do a couple of crafts this weekend if I get a chance and then I will set some more stuff out.

Dollar Tree Crafts

I have been seeing so many Pinterest and Facebook sites about Dollar Tree crafts. Over the next week, I am going to post some of the ones that I am going to try. One that I saw was a candle holder made with Dollar Tree items. So I went and bought a little vase and a candle stick and short candle. The only "tools" I needed were my glue gun.

First thing I did was run a thick bead of glue around the flat top of the candlestick and then I sat the vase centered on top of the candlestick...and forgot to take a picture of that step, but you get my drift.

I had some ribbon and beads that are thought were very feminine so I was trying to figure how to incorporate them.

I just wrapped the beads willy nilly around the candle (no glue) and just sat it down inside the vase and let the beads land how they wanted. I tied the ribbon around the candlestick in a bow and ...Wah Lah! A new candle holder.

I decided to put it somewhere with my favorite pink tea cup.

I tried it in two different places. I would like your opinion. Do I set it in this display (#1)?

Or this display (#2)?

I think I like #2 the best but would love your input. Either way, I am just thrilled with my little Dollar Tree Craft that was a total of $3.00 for a fun and fast craft to make.

A busy day...

I am so late in writing my posts tonight. But I was busy on Monday working out some Pyrex trades in my trade group on Facebook. I ending up with three really good trades and I can't wait to share them with you. But I'm going to wait till I get the goodies in my hands before showing them off.

So this morning this morning I boxed everything up and got it all addressed and ready so I could go ship them when I got off work today.

After work, I went to pick up my new glasses. I am so happy with them. And I love the texture on the stems.

And when I sat down at my computer, it was so awesome to actually SEE instead of having to take off my glasses and lean in close to read the screen.

A very productive day....

We had yesterday off from work so I decided to work on my craft room. I had a very productive day. I organized some of my supplies and rearranged some of the furniture, but I am not done yet so pics will have to wait another day. I wasn't planning on going anywhere, but I got a call from a local antique store. There is a set of Pyrex bowls made for a Hamilton Beach mixer back in the 1950's and I would like to have the set. In July 2012, I put them on my wish list. In October 2012, I found the large one, but have never been able to locate the small one to complete the set. Well, the lady at one of the local antique stores that helps me find pieces gave me a call. She had the small bowl and it was only $6.00. So I hopped in my car and went right over and got it.

It always makes me happy to be able to complete a set....even if it took me 2 1/2 years to do it.

Even though I worked hard yesterday and ran that one errand, I still managed to find time to put my feet up on the couch and enjoy some Circus Peanuts while I watched a couple of episodes of Big Bang Theory.

Supper was easy. I put some homemade vegetable soup out to thaw and had that with a peanut butter mayo sandwich...and don't say "Ooo gross: before you have tried it. All in all, it was a great day to be off.

Weekend wrap up...

I am thrilled to have the day off today. I love three day weekends. I didn't want to catch you up to date on what's been going on in my world the last couple of days.

I spent some time at Hobby Lobby and the Dollar Tree so I have been working on my craft/sewing/office room at home. Many of you know I love working for Thirty-One and pink has fast become my favorite color. So I couldn't pass up this cute little sign. Especially at 40% off. I only paid a buck and a half for it.

I have had these cloth flowers in the milk glass vase for over a year now, but I found these little whimsical birds and chalk board signs and fell in love. So I had to create a little display with them. I am not sure where I am going to put the display, but I will figure it out soon.

My friend, Stevie, has some how ended up with THREE of these bowls so she gave one of them to me. I was beyond thrilled.

She also gave me one of her extra fridgies. We both love collecting Pyrex and other vintage items.

She loves coffee mugs so I returned the gift favor by giving her these coffee mugs. I won't see her until Tuesday, but I have them wrapped up and ready to take to her.

While I was looking a Pinterest this weekend, I saw this adorable idea for some crochet hearts I have a dear friend who crochets and she is going to make me some. I'll show them to you when she is done.

I don't have my craft room finished yet and I don't have my table the way it is going to be set up, but I did manage to get it where it is going and am so in love with it that I just had to share it with you. Solid oak. Not bad for a $10 yard sale fine. No refinishing required.

I posted last week that I had some pretty tea pots and Pinterest had several ideas for using them a flower pots. So I picked up a few flowers this weekend and I am loving the result. This is in the Thirty-One corner of my home office. My directors group is Misty's Busy Bee's so I had to put my little bee in the display.

I have a busy day ahead of us today. I am going to finish the craft room organization and then work on a scrapbook and a couple of other craft projects. Hope you enjoy your Monday.

Jesus wept...

A re-post from one I wrote on January 2, 2011. I thought it was worth repeating.

Jesus wept - John 11:35

Two powerful words with a profound meaning. Jesus was sent for when Lazarus died. Everyone was mourning his death. Many bible scholars have studied the various meanings of this verse. On the surface, it appears Jesus was weeping for the loss of a dear friend. Other views believe He was weeping for other reasons. Jesus already knew that when Lazarus died, He would raise him from the dead.

He had spent considerable time with these people. They knew of His many miracles; they witnessed his greatness. Yet they still did not have faith that He could help Lazarus since he had already passed away. Many believe that is why He wept. Not for Lazarus, but for the fact that the very people who were closest to Him still didn't get it.

Jesus saves. It's that simple. He performs miracle after miracle in our lives. Yet, how many times do we try to do things ourselves because we do not have enough faith to ask for His help.

If we look back in our lives, how many times have we suffered in silence simply because we did not have a strong enough belief that Jesus can still perform miracles today or felt that we were undeserving of His goodness? How many times have we sat in the stillness of the midnight with our hearts and minds heavy laden? How many times have we struggled in deep despair needlessly? All we had to do was call upon the name of Jesus.

If someone were to write a book about what we have gone through in our lifetime, would there be any moments when our loving Saviour was looking down upon us that someone would simply have to write "Jesus wept."

Do not keep your troubles from Him. He already knows what you are going through. He will carry the load for you if you just ask him to. Take your burdens to the foot of the cross and leave them their. He wants to help if we only let Him. Please don't be the reason that Jesus wept.
