A great find....

As you know, I love collecting Pyrex. My favorite are the mixing bowls sets. They usually come in four sizes. For some reason, in my area, the largest bowl...the 404...is extremely rare. I have never been about to find a complete set or if I find a set of 3, I never can find that large 4th one to complete my set. So far I have 3 of the Early American set.

Three of the Town & Country set.

Three of the Colonial Mist set.

Three of the Autumn Harvest set.

And three of the Woodland set.

My daughter picked me up a set recently that had 3 of the blue with clear bottom set.

But alas, I have not been able to complete a set of 4. That big bowl just doesn't exist around here. And people in my groups that have them, won't usually part with them. I had one more of the 3 piece sets which was in Shenandoah pattern. I love it but decided since I am doing more blues & browns, I would put this for trade in one of my Facebook Pyrex groups to see if I could get anything in blue or brown.

Imagine my surprise when I was offered the Homestead set....which is blue AND brown. And then she told me she would take one other bowl I was trading and would throw in the big 404 for the Homestead. It came yesterday and I could not be happier. Isn't it beautiful.

 I was ecstatic!

Where did the week go?

As I sit here on Thursday night, I am trying to figure out where my week went? It seems like yesterday was Monday.

My hubby has been sick and is on the mend so I have been doing more around the house myself since he hasn't felt well. My daughter was on vacation so I have been going to her house 3 times a day to let the dog out and make sure he has food and water.

My boss told us on Monday that he has purchased a new office and we will be moving. So I have been working with movers, internet & phone techs and our computer network company to give everything scheduled for the move.

Not to mention the normal day to day things you do when you work out of your home and also have a business you work from your home.

So, I guess in retrospect, I can see where my week has gone and I can also understand why I am so tired tonight and why I am writing a blog post at 11:58 on Thursday night when I didn't write one most of the week.

Oh, well. Tomorrow is another day. I will get back on track then.

Weekend Wrap Up

We had a wet weekend on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Then it cleared up and dark clouds starting rolling in again. We did get some much needed rain.

I tried my hand at a new nail design. I think I needed one more dot in the bottom right, but I was happy with them. And it didn't cost me a penny because I had everything I needed at home. I love manicures but have never been able to make myself pay the money they charge to get one done. So I have started using Pinterest and You Tube to learn tricks to manicures.

I have been looking for a new bracelet for those occasions that need a little bit dressier jewelry. I found this cute little rhinestone one on sale for $6.90 at Penny's. I am loving it.

I have a new notebook that I want to make into a smashbook at Conference this year. So I went to Joann's and got some cute little washi tape and embellishments to get me started. I love their dollar section.

Sunday was Bow Tie morning at church and all the men and Dad's were asked to wear bow ties. We even had an all male choir Sunday in honor of Father's Day. It was a full choir and they sounded awesome.

A tribute to my Daddy

Daddy has been gone 16 years. Some days it seems like just yesterday that I walked in and he was sitting in his favorite chair and some days it seems like it has been an eternity since I saw him. Mom and I were talking one day, I was telling her that sometimes I can feel his presence. Sometimes it is in my thoughts, sometimes it is in my dreams and sometimes it is in the things I do. This weekend he has been on my mind a lot and several little things have made me smile and feel like he was near.

First, was Friday when we had a pouring rain. Even with my umbrella, I got drenched. When I came in, I put the umbrella in the tub to drain. I remember a many a rainy day when Daddy would have to walk over a mile to the grocery store to get milk or bread (we didn't have a car because him nor Mommy knew how to drive.). But when he would come home, he would always hand Mommy the umbrella to put in the tub while he took his wet shoes off.

Then Saturday, I was at the store and for some reason I looked on the very top shelf in the candy aisle. And there it was a big block Hershey bar. I haven't bought one of those in years.

That was Daddy's favorite. Mommy always had goodies for us in the kitchen, but Daddy kept his "chocolate bar" in his dresser drawer, hidden away. Then once in a while, he would treat us and get it out and break off a piece for everybody. Saturday night, when I wanted a munchy, I remembered Daddy and his chocolate bar so I broke off a couple of blocks for my snack.

Daddy was famous for always finding money. A dollar here a dollar there. I remember one time he found a bunch of wet $1 bills in the ditch on our road and he brought them home (they were soaking wet because this was one of his "rain" trips. Mommy hung them on a line across the bath tub to dry. We thought that was funny. Today, when I was folding towels, I found this dollar bill inside the dryer. Not sure how it got in with towels, but I have to wonder if it just happened that way because it is just another sign that although my Daddy is in heaven, he presence is still with me.

Happy Father's Day, Daddy. I love you.

Things to see and do.....

I am heading to Columbus for a convention in the near future. I was looking up somethings I want to check out on our spare time. The number one thing I want to do is visit the North Market area and sign the Pink Heals firetruck. You can learn more about Pink Heals by visiting Pink Heals, Inc.

The North Market area is exactly what it seems. A market. They have a farmers market, an artisans market, and even a flea market on the weekend sometimes. It is within walking distance to our hotel so I am sure that I will get a chance to visit the area.

I want to check out their cookbook to see what unique recipes they may have.

I would love to try the salty caramel and toasted pecan donut from Destination Donuts. It looks like it could be addictive.

Salty Caramel & Toasted Pecans

If there is a popcorn store around, I am going to need to stop at it. Sure enough, The North Market has one called Pam's Popcorn. I think I will have to bring home some of their caramel corn.

Just a few minutes from our hotel is a restaurant called Max & Erma's. These cheeseburger just took my breath away. I am definitely eating their once during our 3 day stay.

We had our conference in Columbus last year but we didn't have as much down time and it was my first one so I didn't know what to do. This year, I know and I can guarantee I will be checking out the downtown area.

Can't get it together

This is one of my favorite words for those moments in life when you just don't know up from down or right from left. Those times when you go to do something and get so sidetracked that three days later you realize you never did it. It's those moments when you are pulled in so many different directions you feel like Stretch Armstrong.

Those times that you can use the phrase "which end is up".

It has been such a crazy month that I am feeling definitely discombobulated this morning.

I haven't even got my day started yet and I am already confused.

This sign describes it the best.

Let's hope the day gets better.
