Vintage Charm

Oh wow is all I could say as I stared at the pictures in excitement. There is a new product hitting the shops that has my heart all aflutter. It is Vintage Charm Pyrex. That's right. A new line of Pyrex is being introduced and they are more on the thickness of Corelle. But I do love how they took some of the older patterns and are revamping them in the new. They are definitely charming in my book.

Nothing will ever compare to vintage Pyrex, but these are some cute patterns and I wouldn't mind owning a set or two.

Will I get it all done?

It's that time of year when I have that moment where I worry I am not going to get everything done. But I'm glad to say I may a good start on wrapping last night and will be able to finish up tonight.

I baked a little batch of sugar cookies Friday night...just because. When I came home, my two little elves Edgar and Eli had gotten everything ready for me and even tested the red sprinkles.

Then they hung out on the ceiling fan swinging around.

I almost tripped on them when they were holding a parade.

The decided the lights on the picture needed lit so they did a little climbing.

I finally put them in the chair and gave them the remote and told them to stay put.

They did and it was a lot calmer after that.

A Christmas poem

I wrote this 16 years ago for my Mom. I loved the memories we had of growing up with Mommy & Daddy's love. She is 85 now and loves Christmas just as much as I do. I thought it would be good to bring this old poem back out again. Hope you enjoy!

Packages wrapped up with ribbons and bows,
Stockings over fires with embers aglow;
A tree in the corner strung with tinsel and lights;
A soft falling snow on a cold winter night.

Under the tree on a soft woolen skirt,
Sat a nativity scene of the dear Savior’s birth.
As I knelt down close to take a good look,
My mother would read from an old worn book.

She told of a mother, weary and worn,
Looking for a place for her child to be born.
The inns were all full, no room could be found.
They were shown to a stable with hay on the ground.

She read how the shepherds were watching their sheep
When angels came to them with voices so sweet.
She read of their messages of tidings of joy
As they told the shepherds about the birth of a boy.

We’d listen intently, eyes glued on that book
As she told how the shepherds went to go look.
How they found the sweet baby in a manger that night
And how they gave praise to God for the sweet blessed child.

We hung on her words, the picture so clear,
For this was a child the world would hold dear.
She flipped back some pages as we knelt at her feet,
While she read of some wise men and a star in the east.

She told of their journey to see the small babe.
She read of their worship and the gifts that they gave.
We heard about the frankincense, the myrrh and the gold,
As Mom quietly finished her story of old.

As she closed the worn book that she’d just read,
We’d get our kisses from Daddy and scoot off to bed.
As she tucked us all in and kissed us good night,
We’d think of that story as she covered us tight.

For we had been raised to know the Lord’s love,
And we knew that sweet Child was a gift from above.
We knew that a great sacrifice had been made,
That started with the birth of Jesus that day.

So forget all the presents, the ribbons and bows.
Forget all the stockings and lights all aglow.
For the greatest gift you’ll find on your Christmas morn,
Was given by God, the year our Savior was born.

My Christmas Decor...

I have been decorated almost two weeks, but just now slowing down enough to take pictures.

I love my snowflake Pyrex. I want to try to find more of it before next Christmas.

My Charlie Brown Tree.

My wine rack decor is some of my favorite with the aquas and reds.

I got the little bird house and S & P shakers at yard sales.

My dishtowel my friend Stevie made me that started my whole aqua/red obsession for Christmas in my kitchen.

I made this little display a couple of years ago. I love these type of Santa's and snowmen.

Some people do most snowmen some mostly Santa. I am a Santa kind of gal.

My sister-in-law made me the middle and right pillows over 20 years ago. I absolutely love them still.

My brother made me this corner shelf that holds my pencil Santas. I need to find me some more of them.

Mom made me this little Christmas mouse. Every year my granddaughter Shelby tells me there is a rat hanging on my wall.

Two of my favorite Christmas items. My grandson Garret made me the tree when he was only around four years old. My mom made me the deer over 30 years ago. The tea cup is a recent gift from my friend Kristi.

My little basket of poinsettias was bought for me by Mamaw Eden when I was 5. That makes them 54 years old. They are the first things I set out every year.

One of my most prized Christmas pieces because it has My Grands listed on Santa's list. I love this.

Snoopy in his favorite hat. My niece Makenzie fell in love with him when she came to visit. She is only two. She "borrowed" him to spend the night at the hotel when she is down. But she did bring him back.

I made the little basket in front of the fireplace out of chicken wire when I was only 19 or 20. Me, mom, and Mamaw Eden got together and made them one day.

Some of my favorite figurines in one of the book shelves my daddy made years ago.

My jingle bell door ringer from Old Time Pottery. A new addition to my Christmas this year.

I love my table setting. The bowl is full of pine cones my granddaughter Alexis picked for me.

And I love my tree. I am an icicle queen so there is a lot of icicles on it.

There you have it. Christmas at the Keefer house.

Pinterest success...

Well, I saw a cute idea for a Christmas stocking on Pinterest. So I thought I would try it. You buy some pretty slipper socks and fill them with stocking stuffers. (I couldn't show you that process since it is a gift for someone.)

Next you cut off a length of your favorite ribbon.

Criss cross the top of the socks.

Tie a knot in the ribbon around the criss cross.

Then simply tie a bow around the socks. I think it turned out cute.

After I got done fixing it, I stopped and fixed me a hot chocolate with marshmallow cream and grated a candy cane on it to create peppermint hot chocolate. It was delicious.
