It's the little things in life....

When we were little, we had a neighbor who lived across the street, Gladys and Walter, and had never had kids. So in the summer, she would call Mom during the day and ask if she would send us over to visit. She had a beautiful ranch style house with hardwood floors. In the living room there was a huge braided rug that took up the whole center of the room. On the wall by the front door was a big closet. She kept nothing in that closet but stacks and stacks of comic books. When we got there, we would go in the back door through the kitchen. She had one drawer that she kept stocked with the full size Milky Way and Snickers candy bars. We would stop by the drawer and grab a candy bar and head to the closet and grab some comics. We would spread out on the living room rug and eat candy bars and read funny books. I don't recall if Mom told her how long we could stay or if Mom called when she wanted us home. Here are a lot of the ones that she kept for us.

But I do know that we loved our days when we got to go over to Gladys's and read comic books. It is such a special childhood memory.

Come in and set a spell...

Wonder what we would do if you could come visit me for a day? I thought I would give you a virtual visit of some things we might do. First, I would welcome you in and we would set and visit a spell.

We'd have a nice lunch on my kitchen table. Something simple and easy. I may have made some potato salad to serve up with ham sandwiches.

We may look through my snack bowl and have an oatmeal lunch cake or a little Hershey bar.

Afterwards, we may sit around the table and go through my recipe books or my old recipe card file that has some of the good family dessert recipes from generations before.

I would have to show you where I redecorated my bedroom a few months ago. I am still loving the yellow and blue.

And you know I am definitely going to show you some of my Pyrex and vintage items.

We may go to my craft room/office and see my tea sets or go through my books to see what authors we might share in common.

We might also go through my craft bins to see if there are any projects I need to finish.

We may spend some time on the computer showing you some of my worst Pinterest fails that I am too ashamed to post on my blog but kept as a "what not to do" reminder.

Or we may actually sit around the craft table and you can teach me to crochet if you know how.

No matter what else we do, we would take some time to sit around the fire and just visit. I'll turn the air on if it is summer so we can still enjoy the fire.

And if you stay long enough and we are having a really, really good time, I may even let you help me with the laundry. Well, I probably should have left this one off because now you will never want to visit.

Hope you enjoyed your virtual visit with me today. Have a great Tuesday.

Weekend wrap up

It was a busy, tiring weekend. I participated in the big 10 mile yard sale. I have never seen such craziness in my life. As we were pulling in to unload at 6:30 in the morning, there was a long line of vehicles as we had to wait while others unloaded and pulled on. But the crazy part were the people using flash lights to peer in vehicles to see what you had for sale. They were shopping before people even got set up. It was really weird.

I was happy with how much I sold and what I made. I have about 3 boxes of stuff left and have one more yard sale I agreed to be in. This next one is one I do almost yearly and I put clothes in it because we always do really good on clothing. I need to clean closets and dresser drawers this weekend.

My son and daughter-in-law watched over my stuff for me so I could go do some browsing myself. I did get a few bargains. I did find a Pyrex 501 fridgie for $3.00. No lid but it was in good shape. He had some great prices on his Pyrex but they were all patterns or pieces I didn't need.

I bought this little candy dish for $2.00. I have a clear one, a milk glass one, and a gold one. Now I can add a ruby one to my collection. It is not an intentional collection. I bought one then found one like it and now all of a sudden I have 4 in my collection.

This is a neat thing that you fold out to put on the beach to lay your towel on. This will come in hand on my vacation this year.

I had a Pyrex blue band mug and I love it. I saw one at the yard sale. I picked it up, was looking it over and before I could even ask the price the lady said you can have that if you want it. I don't want to take it back home. So I thanked her and now have a matching pair.

I put this dish in the yard sale. The Glasbake tulip bowl. It has been a major debate in my mind if I wanted to get rid of it or not. I wanted the tulip pattern on something forever and finally found it a year ago. But I really wanted red so I've been torn between keeping it or selling it. Then after putting it on the table, every time someone picked it up to look at it I would flinch in my head. Thinking, "Oh please don't buy it because I'm still  not sure I want to let it go." Many people picked it up. Many times I had that thought. Final result? It came back home with me and that is where it is going to stay.

Sunday I went to Sunday School and it was my turn for Children's Church. After church, I came home, ate lunch and had a 2 hour nap. Then I went to the grocery store, ate supper and crashed on the couch. I didn't accomplish anything. Now it's Monday and I'm still tired. I am really looking forward to my upcoming vacation. I sure need some rest. Can't wait to be just setting on the beach reading a book.

My Wish List

You all know how much I love selling Thirty-One. I love the products and can't remember the last time I carried a purse, a tote or a thermal that wasn't Thirty-One. As spring is now underway, I find myself looking at the catalog again and making my wish list. I always do my own parties and Facebook parties as the hostess so I can earn free products. Here are some of the items on my wish list this season.

I love anchors. And this is the perfect bag for when I go to yard sales and antique stores. Shoulder strap for over the shoulder carry and has 2 zipper pockets inside and one regular pocke.

I love the big totes. These are perfect for so many uses.

This is new in the spring gift guide. It is a small wristlet for those quick jaunts to the store.

I want this for my coupons. I never seem to be able to keep them in one place. Or worse yet, they are on my desk when I am at the store.

I really, really like the new personalization options.

This is my dream purse. I actually got to touch one like it one day and I am in super love with it.

But the number one item on this gal's wish list is this bag personalized with a 31 Chick. I love this. I want this one to take as my conference bag this year when I go.

If anyone ever wants to have a Facebook party for your friends and to earn you some free products, just let me know. We do the party as a Facebook event and invite your FB friends and family. There is a link provided and they shop from the comfort of their home. If they live near you, it can ship to you for delivery, or they can opt to have it ship right direct to them. And you still earn all the benefits of the hostess without having to clean house for fix food. Plus you party in your p.j.'s and nobody knows the difference.

God paints a pretty picture...

Friday Foto Friends with Breathing in Grace

Allen loved the time of evening where the sky was clear pretty and it was nearing sunset. Not quite dusk but the sun was start to sink lower in the sky. We would set outside sometimes for hours and just talk about our day or simply said and enjoy the sound of the evening coming to a close. I guess that is why that has become my favorite time of day to go visit him. I go by about once a week, sometimes more sometimes less. I always go before the sunsets but when the evening in coming to a close. I tell him about my life and what is going on with the family. Sometimes it is upbeat when I talk to him and sometimes it is me just whining and pouting. But whatever it is, I always have this beautiful evening view as I visit with him. This was my view last night when I went to see him and let him know how great our little grandson Colby did as a first baseman on his ball team. It was a gorgeous night and I came away feeling peaceful.

Throwback Thursday

Wow. I must really have like bell bottoms. I do remember that was one of my favorite outfits.

My sweet babies when they were so tiny.
