Several years ago, my sewing machine went caput and I could not find a good deal on one. I didn't want to buy a brand new one because I knew I didn't sew that much. About a year later, my sister mentioned she had bought a new sewing machine since she was taking up quilting. Turns out she didn't use her other machine (which was almost brand new). So she gave it to me. My niece Amy gave me a pretty cover for it that she made. I hurried home and found me a new table at a yard sale for $10 to use for my sewing machine.

Fast forward 2 years....here I set with my sewing machine still under the pretty cover. Material purchased that I liked but didn't know what to make. Threads and scissors in my pretty sewing box. And I have yet to plug it in and give it a try. I am so ashamed.

Now that I am getting things settled in and my busy crazy schedule is going to calm down, I am going to start sewing. But I need easy stuff to do because I like to see instant results. I went to Pinterest to get some fun ideas of easy sewing projects. Check out what all I found.

I really love the ribbon on the dish cloths. What handy gifts for birthdays and Christmas or even part of a wedding shower gift. I could make these up and keep them on hand for those unexpected moments when you need a gift. They would also make wonderful hostess gifts for my Thirty-One parties.

Happy birthday to my grandson Caleb

We have a new teenager in the family today. My grandson Caleb Michael turns 13 today. They grow up so fast. Here are some of my favorite pictures of him.

I loved his curly hair. He was such a cutie pie.

The he had his first hair cut and he started getting that little boy look. He was always smiling and laughing.

It seems like just yesterday that he was this little.

One of my favorite pics of our boy and his dog.

The year he dressed up as a biker for Halloween because his daddy had got a new motorcycle.

His love of semi-trucks is legendary in the family. The child could start his own fleet he has so many of semi-truck toys. One of his favorite days was getting to set in the big black one with the dump trailer that his Daddy sometimes got to drive.

On his birthday a few years ago, his Daddy's cousin gave him a $100 for his birthday. He was heading to Bass Pro to get a new fishing rod and the Shriners were taking up donations. He knew a little girl who got burned and the Shriners helped the family go to the burn center. So Caleb decided that since they do such good work, he donated his $100 to their cause. They gave him a plaque (Daddy still made sure he got his new fishing rod.) He was 11 when he did that.

His Daddy is with the local fire department so Caleb has been raised spending a lot of time at the fire hall. Now that he is old enough, he has joined the Cadets and is having the time of his life.

He looks so little in his full gear.

He may be 13 and not a little boy any more, but he still has his laughter and his smile. This was taken recently when he was teasing his mom about her driving. She was giving him a hard time about having to ride with her so he gets in and says: "I'm buckled. Bring on your driving." When she turned around, he had double buckled. Glad to see he still has his silly sense of humor. (Oh, and FYI, she's a good driver. He just likes to tease her.

Happy birthday, Caleb. I love you.

Sunday's Songs

I love country music and gospel music. Combining the two has brought some beautiful music to us. Here are a few of my favorites.

A sign to change the world.....

There used to be a day care in the back part of the building where I work. The playground is still there and there is a sign in the play area. I was walking at lunch and decided to see what it said. When I read it, I decided to take a picture because I believe this is the best sign ever.

I was thinking about what a better place the world would be if we all applied the playground rules to our adult lives.

#1 through #4 are some basic rules that I think we should all do. Rule #5....not so much.

You can't really see for the weeds, but it says.....

SHOES STAY ON OUR FEET.

Yep, that ain't happening to this old country gal!

It's was just one of those days.....

Ran late yesterday morning. Made it to work to find out our toilets were clogged and plumber couldn't come till the next day. Which meant walking down the strip to the laundromat when necessary.

My work computer has Windows XP and every other day it can't find the server. Yesterday was one of those days so every time I needed a file somebody had to email it to me. Solving that problem today with a laptop and a flash drive.

Went to Colby's game and had a very relaxing time. Since I am still not completely unpacked I couldn't find my umbrella, but  oh well, it was beautiful day with beautiful blue skies. No biggy. Till the clouds turned dark and the sky was a little overcast and the rain hit. But at the first sprinkle I went under the overhang of the dug out and could still watch. It didn't last long.

Headed home and stopped at Taco Bell to grab a quick supper of a mexi-melt with light on the cheese. Obviously they don't understand the meaning of the word "light". It was an ooey gooey mess and as much as I love cheese, I don't love it thick and gooey.

Got to the house and had several friends call to chit chat, which I loved, but didn't get as much done in my unpacking as I had hoped.

So I finally decided to go to bed and get up early to put in a couple hours unpacking before I went to work. Set my alarm for 5:00 only to wake up to pouring down rain and thunder. Felt so good that I snuggled in and reset for 5:30.

Woke up at 7:40 to find I had set it for PM not AM. Then I go to Facebook and see this....

Sounds about right.
