A busy start to a busy week.....

It is 7:10 and I have done a load of laundry, cleaned up the house, made a grocery list and got ready for work. Getting ready to run to the store before I go to work to stock up on grandkids food for the weekend. Got a busy, busy week planned. Tomorrow I am taking some of my grandkids to Kodak Heritage Days at the Northview Optimist Park. This is the biggest year yet. Two live bands, bouncy houses, tractor show, and of course the heritage groups showing how to make soap, how they used to wash clothes, and the history of the area. I am sure there will be arts and crafts booths as always. 

Then Sunday night starts VBS. I am heading over Saturday afternoon to put some finish touches on the submarine and add some blue covers for the ocean. I'll get some pics to show you. Very pleased that most of my Pinterest ideas were successes.

Interesting....

I love taking those little pop up tests you find on Facebook. The ones that tell you things about your personality based on your posts on Facebook. Sometimes they are hilarious; sometimes they are so far off base that you just shake your head and think "Seriously?". But sometimes they are spot on and sometimes they actually cause you to stop and think. Today I did one that made me stop and think. 

Brave? I never would have thought that. I know I am stronger than I think I am because I have stood the test of many things lately and still hang in there. But Brave? I just never really thought of myself that way. But who am I to argue with Facebook. 

But as I look at the pictures it pulled from, I recognize that I surround myself with strong friends who are all brave in their own way. In my friends pictures above, you will find women who:

1. Have lost a child and been unable to conceive again so they have started the adoption process.

2. A woman who had a lung transplant in the hopes of getting 5 more years of life and ended up living about 10 or 11 more years...way past what they had even hoped for. 

3. A woman struggling every day with Cystic Fibrosis, yet she is a mom to a lively 7 year old, continues to move forward against all odds and is today facing the challenge of even more decisions regarding her health issues in the near future. 

4. Women who have stepped out in faith and quit their 40 hour a week jobs to purse their dreams. 

5. A woman who had breast cancer at age 83 and had surgery to remove it and has not had to have chemo or anything and has been Cancer free for over 2 years. 

6. And a man who suffered much pain, but fought till the end with faith and hope. 

7. Grandchildren who believe in God and have been saved and baptized along with younger grandchildren who are starting to understand the meaning of being saved. 

Is it any wonder Facebook thinks I am brave when I am surrounded by some of the bravest people I know. 

My favorite movies....

I rarely watch movies. But when I do, I am one of those people who can watch the same movie more than once. I should keep track how many times I watch one I like. I may make it into the Guiness Book of World Records. I thought I would share my favorites that I can watch over and over. 

American President. My favorite line in this one is at the end when he says "It turns out I have a rose garden."

Sweet Home Alabama. I have so many favorite parts but I just when the line "What do you want to marry me for?" And it goes without saying that I love the music. 

Steel Magnolias. There isn't a scene in this movie I don't love. It's one of my favorites and I cry every time I watch it. 

We are Marshall. This move reaches me way deep down in my soul. I am from Barboursville, WV. It's a little town on the outskirts of Huntington, the home of Marshall University. We were in the floor playing Bingo. I was 13 and they broke into whatever we were watching to announce the plain crash. Everyone was stunned. It took the town a long time to recover from the devastation. On one of my trips back home, I went to the cemetery where the monument is and where some of the departed was buried. Needless to say, since I know the story well, I cry through the entire movie just about. But I still love watching it. 

Grease. This is one of those movies that is just fun to watch. I could watch it over and over. As a matter of fact, I do. 

Shag. With my love of the beach, it goes without saying that I love this movie. Makes me want to learn to shag.

Apollo 13. This one is just one of the best movies ever made. I love when "Gene" says: With all due respect, sir, I believe this is gonna be our finest hour.

Guarding Tess. This is just one of those movies that I can watch at any time. If I am flipping channels and there is 10 minutes left of this movie, I will watch it. 

Sweet Dreams. I just love Patsy Cline so it stands to reason I love the movie about her life. 

Coal Miner's Daughter. I love Loretta Lynn. This was one of my favorite songs of hers. And being a coal miner's granddaughter, I just love this movie.

As you know, I love to pin ideas from Pinterest. I decided to go back and look at all my pins today. I was amazed at things I saved on there that I liked and actually bought as well as things I liked that I actually did them successfully. Here were my top 10 of things I saw on Pinterest and followed up with it. 

The one I used the most was the one I saw of having a sparkly accent nail. I do my nails this way so much that it is probably my #1 find on Pinterest that I am so glad I found. 

I liked this one really well. One Valentine's day, I tore up sheets of magazines/catalogs and the kids make cards for their Mommy's on Valentine's made with hearts like this on the front of the card. It was a blast. 

I saw this on Pinterest one day and wanted it to wear to my Thirty-One Conference and I went and found it at Kohl's and ordered it. It was on sale and I had a coupon so I got it for like five bucks or so. It's one of my favorite bracelets when I wear pink.

One day I saw these little deer. We had these when I was little. It may me want some of my own. I went to E-bay and bid on some and got them for a few dollars. 

I like making mini muffins in cinnamon sugar or lemon. So I found a cute jar and put my muffin liners in it because I saw this. 

This one surprises me. I had pinned it because I liked it. Didn't know where it came from. A few weeks after that, I was in JC Penny's and there it was on a rack. So I bought one.

I pinned this tablecloth and then went looking for it. Found it at Kohl's and it is one of my favorite ones now. 

My daughter had a white three tier one of these. When I borrow it now, I use scrapbook paper on the shelves and coordinating paper for whatever the occasion.

I saw this phone case and then found it on Amazon. It was one of my favorite phone cases. 

One year, we made these in Children's Church and Indian headbands and wore them for a Thanksgiving feast.

It was fun to go back and see all the things I have done or purchased from pins. 

Memorial Day

Sunday's song...

What better song to feature today than a song about Sunday's from a great Southern Gal. Here is our very own local recording artist, Kelsey Cate, singing her latest hit Sunday's in the South.

I am in VBS mode.....

I have all my vacation stuff washed up and put away. Got all my bags unpacked and stored till next trip. Now to enjoy a wonderful 3 day weekend. Our VBS starts next Sunday which means I will be decorating this week. I am going to have the kids in Children's Church and Ms. Missy's class work on some projects for our sea themed VBS that we can use to decorate the craft room with for VBS. That is if Ms. Missy doesn't have other plans for the kids tomorrow. 

I think the fish in this picture would be great for them to make and then next week we could do some twisty streams for the sea weed. 

 

And for Children's Church, we can color paper plate sea shells. These look painted, but I believe we will just use sea shells. Ask anybody who knows me, we don't paint and we don't do glitter. I like them both but trying to do that when you only have four tables and about 27 kids, it becomes a nightmare. We drew on black construction paper last week with chalk. What a nightmare. We had to borrow a box of wipees from the nursery to clean everybody up. Who knew chalk was so messy.

In addition to decorating for VBS, I am doing crafts for the 3, 4 and 5 year olds that are pre-K. I get to do them in 3 different groups and there are plenty of helpers. So I have been doing my Pinterest homework. Haven't decided on every night yet, but we are SO doing this one. It is too cute and they can use it in the pool or bathtub. It is sail boats made from pool noodles. 

Sometimes it is as much fun to plan VBS as it is to attend it. I would be interested to know how many of my readers work in or attend their VBS. It's not just for the kids. I get a big blessing in being around them and watching them learn. And the program at the end of the week where they have learned the songs and get to perform them is always so entertaining.
