Changing a decor area...
I love decorating my house but sometimes I don't get it right the first time. When I bought the giant B with the bible verse, here was how I decided to display it for fall.
But it still looked a little bland to me so I went shopping around the house. I had this little angel on another shelf and moved her to the inside of the B. Then I moved the pumpkin and put this leaf in its place.
I didn't like that either. The angel had been sitting inside a grapevine seed wreath so I put that on the leaf tray and then sat the pumpkin inside the wreath. NOW I am happy with the display. Sometimes it just takes one or two little pieces to totally change the look of something. This is what it looks like now.

Living in a Conditioned Society
Something happened this morning that really saddens me. I had to take my trash off early so I could head to work. I volunteered to help my daughter out and drop off my granddaughter at school.
When I pulled up, there was a gentleman opening the doors for the children. I had not seen him before. He was in jeans and a t-shirt and very "normal" looking.
But we live in a society that has conditioned us to be suspect of anything that would have been normal in the past. My first thought was "He doesn't look like a teacher. Why is he just standing their opening the door for the kids."
How sad is that when you cannot even fathom someone simply being nice. When you look at what I am sure was a wonderful man who was being gallant and helping the children coming up the sidewalk to get through the door.
I did ask Shelby if she knew who it was and she said it was their janitor. She said "He is always so nice. We all love him."
Oh, to go back to a child-like heart where we still believed the best of people and we could trust blindly that people are all full of good.
But unfortunately due to many saddened circumstances over time, we have been conditioned to believe that others have ulterior motives and that you can't trust anybody.
Americans need to be on their knees daily praying for those days of yore when neighbors helped neighbors, you could make new friends without feeling like you needed to do a background check and that you could openly speak to strangers and show them kindness without worrying it would lead them to take advantage of you.
What a wake up call today.

Enjoy your life....
Sometimes things just really bother me that probably shouldn't, but I get over it pretty fast. Except yesterday. I was so highly offended and I just can't seem to shake it. In a general conversation with another lady (who isn't necessarily a friend of mine, but I've known her several months now) I mentioned that I rarely watch TV. That when I am home, I like to be reading or crafting or just doing things around the house instead of laying on the couch watching TV. Her comment back to me was like a slap in the face. She said "Do you know what your problem is? You don't know how to enjoy life." I was floored. First it was rude. And second, HELLO! Have you met me? I know how to enjoy life. I have always said it is the little things that bring us joy.
Like making homemade from scratch bacon gravy for the very first time and it turning out delicious...
Or getting a thrill every time I walk by my wine rack because I love the way I decorated it.
And what about doing a happy dance in Walmart when I found a soap that I loved that we have in the bathroom at work. Come on now, it's just soap but I was thrilled to find this fragrance.
And what about crocheting a chain and making a little rough version of a wreath I saw on Pinterest just to see if I could do it. And then being very proud of myself that I did it.
And what about getting up early and making a brownie Reese trifle to take to work to surprise them just because I know they love peanut butter.
Or finding something I really love at a yard sale for a really good price.
Or the time I can relax just reading crazy cat meme's.
Or how a simple cup of hot cocoa can make me feel so good and relaxed.
And those times when I find the perfect apple butter and plan a whole meal around the apple butter.
And don't forget the fact that I absolutely love to bake and could just stay in my kitchen for hours baking.
And saving the best for last, but the enjoyment and sheer bliss that comes with being around my family. Even if all we do is hangout and eat spaghetti and watch Zootopia.
Even people in my life that barely know me comment on the fact that I find so much pleasure in the little things. So please do not ever assume I do not know how to enjoy life.

Putting the gloves on....
Yesterday as I was helping scan tickets at work, it got a little nippy. It made me think about winter and how my hands will free when I do any of the jobs that require me to be outside part of the day, like group greeting. I got to thinking I will need some warm gloves. But the problem is at some point I will be handing out tickets on the groups and the gloves will have to come off. Unless.......
I buy some fingerless gloves. So of course, me being me, I Goggled them. Here were some results I found.
There are some that just have one thumb hole and the rest of the glove is opened, but your hands and wrists would be nice and warm.
Then there are styles like but excuse me how is this a glove? This is simply a pretty cuff to keep your wrist warm. But I do like it.
The you have the type that I call a flip back mitten. You can flip back the finger section and keep your hands till warm. Then when you don't need your fingers for a while, you can close them back up into mittens. I really like this style.
And then there is the classic part of the fingers is covered and the tips are still free.
This type also comes with the flip back mitten cover. Perfect for typing if you are in an outside booth where the air comes in your little booth window.
Then there are those that look like people just cut their glove off at the length they want. Lots of opportunity to unravel if you ask me.
I saw these with buttons and thought. Hmm. I like the cable knit but not sure I want my gloves to "stare" at me. Then I realized they were cute and decided I like them.
But this owl pair was probably my favorite of all. Too, too adorable. Ms. Debbie at Breathing in Grace needs these.
Either way I go, I see some investments in gloves in my future this winter.
