Happy birthday to my grandson, Caleb

Wow! Fourteen years old today. Where have the years gone. I love the young man he is growing into but oh how I miss that curly haired little boy who loved to climb up on my lap and snuggle.

I remember when his mom cut this curly hair for the first time. I nearly cried.

A boy and his dog. I guess the dog is getting old too because they still have Spike. He still loves his dog.

He is so into vehicles. He gets that from his Daddy. This is his motorcycle look.

This day made him so happy. He got to set in Mr. Berry's big black truck that his Daddy drove.

Mr. Cool and his shades.

Doing what he always did best....playing with his truck and equipment.

He has his very own since of style.

The older he gets the more he is becoming his Daddy. He even goes to work hauling in the dump truck some times with his dad.

I don't know what it is about boys but the older they get, the harder it is to get them to smile for pictures.

But once in awhile that rare smile breaks through that just melts this mamaw's heart.

But the memories of his little smile always make me smile right back.

This was the year he got an award from the Shriners for donating $100 of his birthday money to the drive for the Shriners Hospital just because he knows a girl that they helped when she got burned when she was little. It was his idea and we were all so proud of him. He has such a kind heart.

He didn't know they were going to give him an award. He just has a big heart and that was what he wanted to do.

He holds my heart in his hand. I miss the little boy he was but am so proud of the young man he is becoming.

Happy birthday, Caleb. I love you.

Weekend Wrap UP

Well, it has been a busy weekend. Started off Friday with my yard sale. My granddaughter put some of her Barbie collection in the sale. When the Southern Belle Barbie didn't sell, she decided I needed it for my desk at Dixie Stampede since we have Southern Belles. I sat it beside my flowers. Then Sunday a former employee brought all the Mom's a rose so I put water in my vase and put my rose in there to enjoy.

Saturday, I worked mornings at our new show, Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountain Adventures and  that evening at Dixie Stampede. During the between times, I went to Old Time Pottery and picked up a placemat and coffee cup for my new kitchen table. I used flowers I had, but want daisies and sunflowers so I will be changing it out soon.

For Mother's Day on Sunday, I had me a glass of milk and some Oreo's while I wrote my blog.

My granddaughter had seen on Pinterest where you could paint seashells with water paint. So she made me some from some plain shells her other grandmother gave her. They are very bold in colors and I love them.

Sunday after church I took myself over to a new antique store we have in Kodak. I love my little vintage juice glass.

I am adoring black roosters/hens on things. This was really cute.

I have been wanting to start a Butterfly Gold collection in Pyrex. Found my first bowl yesterday for $7.50, making my total for all three items less than $10.00.

Then I ran up to Old Time Pottery and I found this new bowl for $1.99. It looks bigger in this picture than what it is. It is made for cereal but it's going to be my ice cream bowl.

I wanted to look at new shower curtains. I'm leaning toward this one, but want to think about it awhile.

I came home and laid on the couch and caught up on the episodes of Riverdale that I had not seen. Cliffhanger on the last one. Can't wait till next season. Then I had me some breakfast for supper.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Happy Mother's Day to my Mommy

My mom has always been and will always be the best friend I have. I can talk to her about anything at anytime and she is there for me. We have had many good years building many good memories and I am so happy to still have her with us today. She will be 87 in June and she's been our Mommy for 61 of those years. We all love you Mom. You have been our rock through tough times, laughed with us through the good times and always made sure we were well fed and cared for. But most importantly, you always made sure we were loved.

Have a Happy Mother's Day, Mommy from Rachel, Brenda, Jack and Andy.

Leftover yarn...

Many of you are like me. You love yarn and can't resist all the pretty colors. So you end up with yarn that is either left over from another project or that you bought it "just because" and never did use it for anything. So I went in search of something to do with all that leftover and unused yarn. Here are some awesome ideas. Some I could not do, but many I can because they can be done in knit or crochet or simply by making balls of yarn or pom poms. Enjoy. The first five I am definitely going to try to do.

Let me know if you think you will try any of these.

Friday Foto Friends

I am having a yard sale with my friend Sherrie this week. First thing we do is to shop each others items. To be fair, we pay each other what it is marked at so we are not causing the other person to lose any money. Here were my bargains from yesterday. This little red dotted case. I just loved it. I love polka dots and red has always been my favorite color.

I didn't get it to hold credit cards though. I got it to hold all those value cards and discount cards for places I shop. Everybody seems to have a saving program today and I have so many cards for that. This will be a perfect way to carry them. I got it for just 25¢.

I also picked up this can cozy with the Thirty-One logo for just 25¢.

I got this Thirty-One large utility tote which is like brand new for just $8.00. The large tote in the Thirty-One catalog is $35 so this was a steal.

But the two items that thrilled me were this small sugar and cream set in milk glass. It is $12 on some sites and as low as $5 on other sites. But I got mine for 50¢.

And the best thing is it still had the sticker inside the set from when it was originally purchased. And though it is faded and you can't see it good in this picture, it has the Authenticate Milk Glass phrase on it. So excited.

This was also a thrill. I keep looking for items to add to my Pyrex collection. I am wanting to find some items in the butterfly gold pattern. So far, no luck. But Sherrie did have the salt and pepper shakers in that pattern. So I have officially started my butterfly gold collection....for just 50¢.

But my favorite find of the week is when my daughter got a new kitchen table and chairs and she gave me her old one. I have been wanting a vintage set like this where I could take the leaf out for my kitchen for a year now. Beyond excited to finally get one....and it was FREE. I kept the other two chairs and the leaf in case I ever need to expand for gatherings. This is a temporary centerpiece decoration until I can find exactly what I want to put in the middle.

Well, those are my Friday Fotos. I'm heading out soon for the final day of our yard sale and it has been pouring the rain. But at least it looks like there are times on and off today where it will be dry. But we are in a garage so we can have it rain or shine. Just don't know how many yard sale fans will head out in the rain.
