A special day...

Forty-three years ago today, this sweet little gal made me an Aunt. She was my little partner, my sidekick.

She was so precious. Always smiling and bringing joy to our lives with her various antics.

From the "no hair" days through the big hair days, we have always shared a special bond.

Here she is with my other nieces and my daughter. Getting them all together was always full of love and laughter. Great times. Great memories.

(L-R my nieces: Amy, Cindi, Tara, Christy, Lori, Emili and my daughter Diana)

She was the one that started calling me Aunt B because she was having trouble saying Brenda. My boss at work always called me Little B because she said I was always as busy as a bee. So when she got to meet Christy one time when Christy was learning to talk, she asked what Christy called me. I told her she couldn't say Brenda yet. So Carolyn said "You should call her B because that is easier to say." Christy immediately looked at me and said B and that was that. Now that is what everyone of the nieces and nephews call me.

(L-R: Mom and Christy)

She may be 43 today, but she still loves her Aunt B and calls me at least once or twice a month just to chat. Every call is full of laughter because she inherited my crazy gene.

(L-R: Christy and one of my other nieces, Cindi)

I love you Christy Dawn. I hope you have a totally amazing birthday. She sure don't look 43.

Weekend wrap up

Well, I went to the yard sale but didn't find what I went after but still happy to find a thermal I was wanting.

And she had one of these little change purses that I love.

There is a place for license & card, plus a few bills and some change. Perfect for just running out for fast food or to the store when I don't want my whole purse.

I found a cute table runner at the grocery store of all places. I was looking for something blue. So I redid the table.

And I added some stuff to the little corner stand my daughter gave me.

Hope you week is off to a good start.

A foggy start...

It is going to be a beautiful day in East Tennessee. High 80's. May even make it to the 90's. I just know that it is going to be really pretty. But it is starting off real foggy. The sun is rising though so it will burn off real soon.

Have a happy Sunday!

The one that got away....

As a Thirty-One consultant, you have to pick and choose your favorites or you will end up wanting to buy everything in the catalog. Unfortunately, you pass on some that you can't decide on. Then they get discontinued. Years later, you remember them and wish you find them. Many Thirty-One consultants will buy stock to keep on hand and then over the years, have a huge sale and get rid of the out dated stock. I am going to a yard sale at the Smokies ball stadium today where a friend of mine has a booth. She is selling most of her old stock. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can find something I wish I had gotten. One thing I really want is a purse like this. I have a brown one and love it but I have always wished I had gotten this pattern.

I did have this wallet that I had earned for free. But that was back during my "smaller" wallet days. Now that I like the bigger wallets I really wish I still had this one.

This is the same purse as the first purse but in a different pattern. I would be happy with any pattern in this purse.

And I loved the patterns on zipper pouches in this catalog but never got around to getting one. So any pattern in a zipper pouch would make me happy.

The red parisian pop was only around for one season, but I still wish I had gotten something in this pattern.
I loved the black parisian pop and still have a few things in that pattern. I would really love to have a Cindy Tote like pictures below in that exact pattern. It was my all time favorite.

As a matter of fact, I would love to find anything in that pattern. It was my all time favorite.

Wish me luck!

Crazy

This little sign is so true. I think that Tennessee is the only place you can be "crazy" and everybody things you are normal.

In 2015, Hubby shared this on my Facebook wall. At the time, I just thought "That's funny." It popped up on my memories today and now I am wondering if he was trying to tell me something and I just didn't get it. LOL.

Have a great Friday!

Pass the candy please....

I just love vintage candy dishes. The beautiful designs. The cut glass, the etched glass. I use some for candy but some just to set around. My favorite two are on my coffee table. I bought this one for the unique diamond shape.

And this one because I love the gold trim on it. It just looks so regal.

Some of my favorite vintage glass is made by Indiana Glass from the 40's and 50's. So I decided to see what candy dishes they made. I didn't realize the my two favorites I own were Indiana Glass. Both of the ones above popped up in my search. Happy dance. Then I found a lot more that I liked. This one I liked really well in this blue.

Then I saw it in green. Be still my heart. I love this.

I seen a lot of pieces in my antique trips that have the ruby band, but never this tall skinny one. I am going to have to look for this.

This one is called Honeycomb. This color is just absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of sea glass.

Then I found that they made it in blue, amber, clear, green and this gorgeous purple. Ms. Debbie at Breathing in Grace would love the purple one I am sure.

I've seen this one before in some local shops. It is usually out of the budget of what I am willing to pay.

I have known about and dreamed about this one for years and years. It is carnival glass and the pattern is called King's Crown. I just can't find it at the right price and I refuse to pay a King's ransom for a candy dish. But my search continues. It is an iridescent blue and green and if you hold it to the light a certain way a little amber and purple show through. I have seen them. I have picked them up and touched them. But oh, the prices people put on them are just outrageous. I do have

One day I did find a shorter one in the ruby piece. I did buy it and love it, but I really want one like the one above. Here is the little one I have.

There is a big yard sale this Saturday at the Smokie's Baseball Stadium. I am going to it in hopes I finding something from the Indiana Glass family. I will keep you posted.

Happy birthday, Caleb

I want to wish my grandson, Caleb, a very happy 15th birthday.

Him and that curly hair. He was about 2 or 3 before they cut it the first time. It was hard to see his beautiful curls go.

A boy and his first dog. Spike is with him still and still attached to Caleb.

He went through the little biker dude stage when his daddy got a motorcycle.

I remember the day he got to said in the big Peterbilt with the dump trailer that his dad hauled scrap metal in. He really thought he was something.

About 4 or 5 years ago, one of his dad's cousins gave him a $100 for his birthday. He was heading to Bass Pro for a new fishing rod and reel. When he saw the Shriner's out front, he remembered a little girl from church that was burned when she was a couple of years old and new the story of the Shriner's help her be able to go to their hospital and get healed. So without a second thought he told his dad he could get a fishing rod anytime. He wanted to donate his birthday money to the Shriner's instead. When they heard about the story as to what he did, they honored him with a plaque for this thoughtfulness and caring. We were so proud of him.

He has always had a smile that just stops my heart.

Turning 15, he has perfected the "I don't smile in picturess" look that all teenage boys go through. But he is still a handsome young man and I'm proud of him.
