I grew up in an era where products were free inside boxes of oats and detergent. We had many hand towels and wash cloths that came inside laundry soap. Some included glasses or dishes. But my favorite was what came inside of Mother's Oats.
It was a cup and saucer made by Fire King. It came in several patterns but my favorite was the Bonnie Blue pattern. So many memories of Daddy sitting in his chair drinking his coffee from one of these cups. In all my vintage shopping days I looked for a set of these and finally found it in 2012 for just $5.00 for the set. It is one of my favorite vintage items I own (that isn't Pyrex).
I don't drink coffee, but this morning is rainy, dreary and yucky so I opened up the freezer and pulled out 3 of the pull apart pre-made chocolate chip cookie dough squares. Popped them in the toaster oven on bake for about 10 minutes. Now I'm enjoying cold milk and warm cookies before I get started with my day.
Have a great Saturday!

Oh, I remember those "freebies", too. I think it was my paternal Grandmother who used to buy the oats that had glasses in them and I so wanted Mom to buy them, too...but we didn't eat oatmeal, so she wouldn't. I'm pretty sure that somehow scarred me for life...LOL!!
I don't remember getting cups and saucers but do remember the towels and also drinking glasses! Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end...
