Happy birthday Alexis Caroline

How can this little angel that be turning 15 today? She was born two months early and weighed in at less than two pounds. She was a fighter and overcame the small challenges she faced. She is truly blessed by God because she did not have major issues at birth. She was in the hospital for two months for her lungs to develop and to gain wait. And barely over 4 pounds she came home in November in time for Thanksgiving. Our miracle baby.

The first granddaughter. She had Papaw wrapped around her tiny little finger.

And that never changed. She would sit on his lap and read his Food Network magazine while he combed her hair after her bath when she stayed all night. They had a special bond.

Always a morning person, she would pop up early out of bed with a big old smile.

I know I am prejudice because she's my granddaughter, but what a doll baby.

Of all the picture I have ever taken of this child and there are a lot, this is my favorite. It captures her happy, smiley, "I love the world" personality. She never fusses or complains. She is fifteen. Loves school. Makes honor roll all the time. Highly intelligent and one of the sweetest, loving kids you will ever meet. She has always been that way and still is. And I see all that love and more in this precious little face.

She has never had a problem producing a smile and posing for a camera shot.

She finds fun in anything we do when we are together. We will be doing some shopping together on her day with me Monday. Sunday is her actual party so there will be more to share then.

Of every picture I have and of everything she likes to do, this picture and the fact she is reading always melts my heart. I have been and extremely avid reader since before first grade. Many trips to the library and book stores have been in my life. So it just makes me extremely happy that she is like her Mamaw in the fact that she loves, loves, loves to read. A child that can ask for whatever she wants for her birthday or Christmas, ALWAYS asks for books in whatever series she is reading. Be still my heart.

Many times she is my dinner partner for the shows in Pigeon Forge. I love Mamaw time with just the two of us. I don't get to as much as I used to between work and her school and used to be cheerleading. But I hope to get more now as my schedule is getting ready to be more flexible. Of all my grandchildren, she favors me the most in looks. My son agrees.

Happy birthday to Mamaw's sweet baby girl. I love you Alexis Caroline. I hope you have an amazing day.
