A flipping and a flopping

This summer has been so hot that it has been tank tops and flip flops for me every day....I mean EVERY DAY. I haven't had on "real shoes" since April. I wear my dressier flip flops to church even. But last Friday, hubby and I were going to Sam's to shop and walking on all that concrete makes my feet tired so I wore my little white tennis shoes. Hubby was shocked. He had gotten so used to seeing me in flip flops. I am very easy on shoes so it is years, sometimes decades before I throw a pair of shoes away. Therefore, I have over 30 pair of flip flops. But I realized Friday, that I have only bought one or two new pairs this year. That is sooo not me!

Well, being the great internet surfer that I am, I went a flipping and a flopping to find something new I might like.  I found quite a few flip flops plus some sandals that I thought I would like.

Who wouldn't love flip flops that say Coach. And they are pink, one of my new favorite colors.

I love butterflies on anything. These are too cute.

These Crocs look so comfy. I would love to have these.

These are cute with the little owls on them. I know a lady who would go nuts over these.

Thee are cute but I am not sure what the little bow says on it. They just look like a pair of everyday flip flops that could be worn with shorts and tank tops.

Love this color. I have several outfits these would go good with. The bottoms talk about mythology....not sure what connection that has with the flip flops, but I liked the color.

These are not my normal style of shoe. They are a little too bulky for what I like. Less is best with me and sandals, but these do look very comfortable. I may have to search for some to wear when I am going to be on my feet a lot.

I don't play piano, but I do love music. These are just too cute for words.

Love the glitzy look to these. I also adore the double straps. Too cute.

A very cute sandal with an ankle strap. Looks really comfortable.

These with the rattan bottoms are a gorgeous shade of pink. I love rattan flip flops. I have a pair that I have had for over 10 years. They are getting very ragged, but they have lead a hard life. They have been through muddy waters, the ocean, goose poop (long story) and sandy beaches. I need to get these pink ones for dressy wear.

These are really cute sandals. I like them real well. They look patent leather....which I love.

A little excited today

After months and months of research, weeks and weeks of waiting, hoping and wishing...I have finally made a decision on a tablet. I started at my birthday looking into the possibilities. I wanted something that was wi-fi for two reasons. I did not want to pay a monthly connection fee to use it and my reasons for wanting one were for use when vegging out on the couch or to take on vacation to use in my hotel. Those are my main reasons and they both have wi-fi so I didn't need the added expense of a "plan" to be able to use it.

Which one did I finally decide on? The Acer Iconia 10.1" Tablet w/ Android™ Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 Operating System...and it is RED! My all time favorite color. I am thrilled. I get to pick it up this morning.

Now comes the fun part (other than getting to use it and explore how it works), I get to shop for a sleeve and accessories. First thing I want to do is order this packet of stylus pens just in case I want to use them.

I need to buy an inexpensive sleeve for it until I can decide what type of case I want. I will probably stop by Walmart or Staples today to see what they have. These are not very expensive.

Then I will start looking at a bag or quilted sleeve. Here are some I have found online that I like. (Obviously the gun one is NOT me but it was in the picture.)

I am very partial to Vera Bradley so that may be the route I go.

Well, I am off to clean house then run and get my new tablet. I will probably play with it the rest of the day. Have a great weekend.

I want to love my laundry room....

.... but I can't!

I have been working so hard on the different areas of my house that I haven't spent much time thinking about the laundry area. It is really small and not a lot I can do in there, but I need to do something because it is really blah. You can see I don't have a lot of room to work with.

Shelves over the washer/dryer are out of the question because they are stackables and there is a freezer beside it.

Here are some thoughts...I have a wire rack beside the W/D, but it holds some small kitchen items (chopper, processor, etc.) I may rearrange in some of my pantry shelves and put those in the cabinet. We don't use them that often so it won't be an inconvenience to get them out. I could get some baskets for the shelf unit and store some of the odd and ends (Downy Ball, spray gel, dryer sheets, etc.) in the baskets so they aren't piled on top of the freezer like they are now. I really like these baskets.

You will notice I don't have room for a little folding table, which is something I would love. But check out what I found. It is a table that is wall mounted and folds down when not in use. You will notice on my first picture, that my laundry basket is in the floor, and you can see how this table would work perfect in that area.

Then I could get a rack to hang on the wall to put my iron, broom, ironing board, etc. on. I really like this.

In a perfect world, I would have room for this shelf unit. But we don't live in a perfect world. But this is a cute idea.

Once I get all organized, I could hang a few things on the wall to spruce it up some. I would love to find a vintage washboard to hang on the wall.

Maybe some of those cute wooden plaques about laundry. We have a little jacket holder hook thing on the wall that we keep our zippered hoodies on. I could replace that with something like this.

Or something like this.

All I know is that I need to do something in there. Doing laundry is depressing enough as it is without having to do it in a boring area. I would love any ideas for feedback.

What's on my mind....

I hope everybody had an enjoyable 4th.

I was at a store on Tuesday that was offering Senior Discounts. I asked for my discount and the lady said "I hate to ask, but are you at least 50? You have to be at least 50 to get the discount." What a precious lady. I am 55 and she wasn't even sure I looked 50. Wow, that made me feel really good. Thank you Lady Clairol for covering the gray so well.

I am happy to announce that I now have 6 little watermelons on my vine and a lot of blooms so more should be coming soon. Our tomatoes are growing like you wouldn't believe. I planted pumpkin seeds a week ago today and as of last night, I had 16 pumpkin plants that have popped up in the past three days. They are the big pumpkins that are perfect for Jack-o-lanterns. The package said to expect 15-30# pumpkins and that the vines would grow 20-30' long. Guess I am going to lose the whole back yard to pumpkins! I am also guessing I will be supplying a lot of children with free pumpkins this year. I'll have to have my grandchildren all over to pick their own pumpkin from Mamaw's pumpkin patch if they really do grow. I would be thrilled if they would be as nice as the ones in this picture.

The July special for Thirty-One is for every $31 you spend, you get your choice of one of the following items for just $5.00.....Mini Zipper Pouch, Large Zipper Pouch, Littles Carry-All Caddy, Thermal Tote or Cinch-it-up Thermal tote. And the great part is that personalization is only $5.00 this month on any item.  You can visit my website to see all the patterns available as well as the complete catalog.

August special is going to be exciting as well. Spend $31 and purchase anything from our Spirit Collection for 1/2 price. They are carrying the $5.00 personalization over to August as well. I already know what I want to buy in August. I have had my eye on the Retro Metro Bag for quite some time. I just couldn't decide what pattern. Well, I wear a lot of black in the fall and winter so I am going to get the bag in the Spirit Black and have it personalized with my initials in white. I saw one on Pinterest the other day and I fell in love with it, especially with one of Thirty-One's Spirit Scarves tied on. The neat thing about it is that I can change the scarf with the seasons or just carry it with no scarf. I love it.

I made a couple of flowers with my latest yo yo's. I glued the Wilton sucker sticks on the back and added a button on the front. Stuck them with a little daisy into one of my milk glass vases. It turned out pretty cute.

Hope everybody has a blessed day!

Christmas in July

The hotter it gets the colder we want it to be. I was sitting on my swing yesterday in 90+ degree weather thinking about working on some crafts for Christmas. Every year, I get excited about making new crafts for the holidays....but I wait too close to the holidays to get started. This year it is going to be different. I am going to get some ideas and start gathering materials. Then on the cool fall evening in September and October, I can work on my Christmas crafts. Here are some of the things I am loving.

A wreath for the kitchen

Would love to do this for my beach room. Of course, the grandkids will love the bowl of Hershey kisses as decor.

A neat gift idea. This would be a cute idea for our Sunday School class to do one Sunday in December.

These look really simple.

Now this is just the cutest easiest candle holder craft I have ever seen. I don't have a lot of talent, but bet I could make this one for sure.

Now this is an adorable idea for tags. It is a paint chart like you get at Lowe's.

I am going to look for Christmas socks and colored socks at yard sales and Dollar Tree. This would be so easy and so cute to make. You could even do it out of Halloween socks for October.

This looks easy.

Now, I am just in love with this. Only problem is I don't have a clue how to make the stars. They look like scrapbook paper. I am sure there is an easy way to make them. I'll have to ask my friend Stephanie. She is really crafty and might know how to do them.

 How precious is this.

I could SO do this one. Talk about easy. I already have white yarn and a multitude of buttons. I see burlap ribbon in the craft stores. The hat will just be the challenge. Wonder if you could use green floral wire for the hat to make it even more Christmas"y". Does anybody know what this black wire is and where you would get it. I am definitely going to make this.

Another cute idea that would be easy to make.

I love music and I love Christmas icicles so this one would be fun to make if I can learn how to fold the stars. I have seen sheet music scrapbook paper before.

Here are some items I saw that would be fun to make with kids. This little wreath could be made stringing buttons or beads either one.

Easy to make with scrapbook paper and glue dots.

Simple as can be.

This is a fun craft made from tracing their hands.

I am thinking this is one of the easiest kids crafts I have ever seen. I have a red and green basket shaped like a sleigh that is on gold sled runners. I set a stuffed Santa in it every year. Wouldn't it be neat to make 8 of these and let them "ride" in the sleigh with Santa. Too adorable.

Another easy craft for little ones.

Well, there you have it...Christmas in July.

Happy 4th

Not sure what I am going to do today. I actually slept in until 8:00 this morning. Been setting on the porch swing relaxing. Hubby is working evening shift so we won't be grilling out. Probably going to fix some pizza and bread sticks for supper.
