A new little bird house

This is by far the most fun I have had crafting something in a long time. I wanted a little birdhouse to sit in my Steampunk room. So I bought one at Hobby Lobby.

I went ahead and picked up some brown metallic paint so it would match my table legs my friend painted.

I had received a gift from a friend of mine. It was a package of assorted gears for Steampunk crafts. I wanted to use them on the birdhouse so after I painted it, I spread the gears out to make my choices.

First I glued a little open gear around each of the entry posts.

Then I arranged assorted ones on the roof.

When it was all done, I fell in love with it. Love the little bitter of metallic look to the paint.

Chalk this one up to a complete success.

Good fun, good friends

I am so blessed to have friends from all ages and all walks of life. I work very closely with the servers at Dolly Parton's Stampede. I have bonded with new friends over the years of all ages. I have a young soul and young heart so I can bond well with any age, as long as we have common interests. This is the case with two of my youngest friends, Emerald and Brittany. We decided to get together during our shutdown so I could teach them how to make brownie cookies. I supervised. Emerald was the first to step up. She broke the eggs like a pro with no shells at all. Even though I had a slight panic attack since she broke them right over the bowl. But she aced it.

Next was Brittany.  On her turn to stir the liquid in the dry mix, I forgot to warn her how brownie dry mix can "fly". Slight flyaways puff got on her clothes but she didn't let that slow her down.

Amid lots of good music playing, funny stories shared and tons of laughter and getting sidetracked, we ended up with 60 perfect brownies. (This platter has less than 60 on it because two young girls had to sample every pan that came out of the oven.)

After we got the baking done, I wanted to make the girls my famous flat-bread pizza.

They loved it. It was a huge success. I kicked them out of the kitchen so they watched videos and danced like maniacs and kept me entertained. I think they really enjoyed the evening. I know I did. It was great getting out of the house for awhile.

We did have an amazing time. It was a great break from all the self-imposed quarantines. Nothing says love like spending time together and eating chocolate. Life don't get much better than that.

Random Wednesday

My job closed down until the first part of May. Now I am back at home trying to fill my hours while trying to avoid going out to much so I can stay healthy. So in an effort to stay healthy I baked sweets.  That's some weird style of oxymoron.I made peanut butter and chocolate chip. They turned out great. Me and a couple of my girl friends are getting together Friday to bake cookies, have homemade pizza bread and just hang on for girl time. We are 4 days into a 40 day shut down and already bored to tears. Looking forward to Friday.

This popped up in my FB memories the other day. This is a vintage Glasbake loaf pan. I've had it 5 years. It is the only Glasbake piece I have. I had others but sold them when I decided I didn't like the pattern on them. But this is one of my favorites.

I want to do this. It looks cheap and easy. I have 24 pairs of flip flops so I would say I really NEED to do this.

Check out the cut back pack from Walmart. It was $8.88. It is folded up in to a little attached pouch which later becomes an inside pocket when you unfold it to full size like this. I am loving it.

We are right in the middle of some crazy stuff going on right now. TP being stock piled, stores running out of Double Stuff Oreos, businesses closing temporarily. I normally make these little button trees at Christmas. I have some really springy colored buttons and may make up a few of these and call them the Tree of Hope.

I saw this the other day right after I got laid off after just being back to work 2 weeks after the winter lay off. It is very appropriate.

Hope you have had a great day. I am late in posting so it's been a crazy night.

Spring is getting ready to spring...

The trees are starting to get buds. This is my dogwood tree. I can't wait to see if bloom again. One of my favorite trees.

This is my tree that has green leaves in spring. I say it that way because it is some species I don't know. But it does have a bird nest in it this year. There was a house finch out here the  other day and I am hoping it is one of those. They have a beautiful color of muted red on their head.

And of course the dandelions are already ready for spring.

Not much longer.
